Typical gorgeous KyoAni show. Cute girls, beautiful visuals, lovely soundtrack. Yup, this is good. KyoAni <3

Asuka is awesome. I look forward to more pranks by her.

Just watched a bunch of shows

Kekkai Sensen

This is utterly great, it seems a pretty clear favorite for me this season. It has a a really interesting setting, a fantastic cast, oozes style, awesome art and great music. Really pumped for this.

Owari no Seraph

It´s ok so far, fantastic background art, that vampire city of the first episode looked amazing. Still don't feel much for the main character and the action is a bit bland so far, but seems it could be good.

Dungeon ni Deai Wo

Hestia is life. Not very interested on anything aside of that so far but the moments with Hestia makes this worth for me.

Nisekoi S2

It´s Nisekoi, I'm glad to see it back, but nothing surprising in that episode. The quality keeps being amazing, and I'm glad to see more Onodera.

Nice season so far.

My uugghh remains, how does he get to the battle with
Tet
? That's what I want to see and know.
The battle with tet
hasNOT happenned in the books. You can however see more tet as there is a chapter where you see what he does during his days ( it's fun ) The underlying logic at the end of the anime is right, however this is not how the events happens in the books. ( the elkia federation happens however )
Dog Days
1 min in and I saw a Chocobo, I'm all in...

Wait untill ep 2 or 3 before you pass judgement.
Ps: Dogdays is awesome.

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches Episode 1

For anyone who has read the manga, does this seem fast pace? Its been a year since I read it :p Seems like it is..however I am enjoying it so far. And how many episode is it if anyone knows :)

Hello!! Kiniro Mosaic - 2

No. No. Bad writers. They're called BISCUITS not COOKIES. Cookies are American things with chocolate chips in them, they are a specific type of biscuit. No British person would use it incorrectly as an umbrella term let alone two British characters. Do your homework in future lest I'll be forced to post an animated gif of some anime character being angry to express my anger!
COOKIES!!!!!

Can't believe I marathon the entire show in 2 days during my ban. This got to be the most fun show to watch and very addictive even with some flaw of the main character. The main plot come down to a war is brewing with two fractions (earth vs the alien). You follow a main character who is the opposite of what you want him to be if he was the captain (think Jean-Luc Picard but opposite of his personality). You also follow his crew he have to work with and also the ship he have to command. Majority of the show is watching the crew of a spaceship getting caught up in a galactic inter-species war and watching the captain who have no clue of what he was suppose to do in the ship but somehow manage to beat the odds in a way that either come down to he is genius or dumb luck.

I guess the fun part of the show is basically seeing the captain who have no clue of what he's doing and seeing the impression of his crew realize the captain is just damn dumb or just damn genius and try to find a way to rationalize this (but didn't as they kinda accept it).

The animation of the show look great (the show came out around 1993) and have aged quite well to tell the truth. It feel and look like some sort of animation from the late 80s if you didn't know when it was release.

Overall, I like this show and would recommend anyone to watch the show once at least as it's really a fun sci-fi comedy show. Man.....is they any other show that is similar to this show as I am loving this quite a bit right now.

Arslan 02

Anytime a King or other major political figure in fiction doesn't listen to the advice of their underlings (why even have them if you aren't going to listen to them) their days on this Earth are pretty much finished.

So I had a little more time to think about Dungeon Pickup Girls this morning (I fell asleep basically straight after watching it) and wanted to talk about it a little more.

My first thoughts are to be astounded at the relatively good production values. From all the chatter and the general description I was prepared for it to be a cheapass LN adaptation but it seems really well made. The direction is actually fairly good - there's a lot less static shots than I was expecting, a lot of great-feeling environments; the physical 'place' aspect is really well conveyed. You might not necessarily get a sense of 'this is how the city is laid out', but each location really feels like a real place. I think a lot of this comes down to how beautiful the background art is and, noticably, how much the background characters animate and emote or just generally look like they're off doing their own thing, occasionally reacting to what's happening to the MC.

Actual animation is actually pretty decent as well. It's a bit on the light-feeling side but stuff like the action sequences are surprisingly hot-blooded and more extended than I initially thought as well. The character design is also oddly pleasing to look at (though most of the girls seem, so far at least, to follow the same basic "all clothes we wear are basically skintight and/or emphasise how huge my chest is"), not seeming overly busy or ridiculous (at least in context of this weird RPG world).

Unfortunately from there we get into the writing, story and characters and that stuff really doesn't impress that much. Basically what I can say about the characters so far is that they seem 'standard'. They're standard or near-standard. MC is a standard dweeb. Hestia is a standard tsundere who also happens to be a goddess. Lady Paladin doesn't get much of a real character look-in but seems stock-standard unattainable lady atm. Not much impressive here.

Story doesn't fare much better. Hestia wants to grow her familia but actually wants to mack on MC probably. MC wants to be stronger so he can mack on girls. Loki clan wants to... I dunno, be a strong clan, who the fuck knows. Basically, unless you're really into MC and his plight to get chicks, or at least a chick (and he's decent enough but he's not exactly compelling), there's nothing for you in the story here yet.

Basically what I'm saying is: give me the alternate universe where Log Horizon got these production values plz

Anyway I'll probably keep watching, but keep my expectations low I guess

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches Episode 1

For anyone who has read the manga, does this seem fast pace? Its been a year since I read it :p Seems like it is..however I am enjoying it so far. And how many episode is it if anyone knows :)
With 12-13 episodes, they're not going to get very far anyway. It's why I'm not sure if I'm going to watch it, since I'm tired of marketing anime for long running manga.

Yamada and the Seven Witches 1
Hard to say which is better the live action or the anime. Anime did make the kisses feel way more romantic and such so I loved it but much of the rest of the episode was dull. The live action at least had really attractive actors in the roles (miyamura and yamada were so attractive) and having it take place with real people made it feel even sillier than it really was. Anime didnt feel that silly sadly.
CCaJCH_WAAACnPb.png

Oh well at least we get Tamaki in this adaptation, he was in the OP briefly.
Speaking of the jdrama, how did it end?

It's 12 episodes.
Thanks

Yeah that's my biggest pet peeve with anime..I wish they actually finish series out instead of a promotion in a sense for the manga or light novel.

If you could handle NGNL easily, you'll handle this.

Continue Dog Days.

You might want to rethink that.

I feel as though I have failed you.

Dammit, what have you guys done to me now? I had to leave for work about 10 mins into ep.1 and didn't notice anything suspect... Am I gonna cry, be disgusted or be pissed by the time I reach ep. 3?

The battle with tet.

Ps: Dogdays is awesome.

Damn incomplete anime... They just need to make it all up to finish it then, lol.

Finally taking some time to catch up on some stuff. Way behind, but anyway, here's what I've seen.

Gintama The Movie: The Final Chapter (Or whatever this thing's called)

New season of GinTama reminded me I never caught this, so I finally checked this out. Absolutely loved it. It's exactly what I had hoped it would be. A great mix of what GinTama does well. Funny, 4th wall breaking humor, with a great emotional core. Almost every major character got a moment to shine and I really appreciated. Not much more to say about it except it was amazingly ridiculous, yet still managed to eek out some real emotional bits, which works really well.

Gintama 3: Episode 1

To follow that up, new GinTama is finally here! The show's seemingly getting back into the swing of things with a ridiculous, fun light arc. Appreciate that they didn't jump whole hog into another big story. I really appreciated how this episode worked with
time travel
and the ramifications that spin off it. Can't wait to see what dumb scenarios they come up with next episode, especially with how this one ends.

Punchline: Episode 1

I don't know what to make of this show. Despite the stupid amount of fan service, it some how sort of works. Even though I found none of the (copious) panty humor funny, I still walked away more or less on a positive note. When the show isn't relying on that aspect, it has some moments that really killed for me. The dumb
cat porn
joke or the
transformation in the girls head versus the suit just falling out of the lamp in real life
were quite funny. Interested to see how Uchikoshi blends together all the insane plot threads of time travel, spirits and crime fighting girls together. If anyone can handle it, he can.

Fate/Stay Night: Episodes 11-12

UFOtable is working so hard to squeeze all the entertainment value out of this less-than-stellar source material, and man are they doing a hell of a job. The fight in episode 12 in particular was possibly the most amazing thing yet from this series. There's only so much they can do with awful clunkers like the whole
"date" storyline
, but they're spicing those moments up with charming animation and intelligent pacing decisions. Where they left off for the hiatus is possibly the best moment in the VN to do so and they actually brought out some pretty great emotional moments that I don't think the VN came close to pulling off for me. Knowing how this goes, most of the best moments of UBW are coming up so S2 is going to be a hell of a fun ride.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Episodes 34-37

The show continues the Battle in Egypt arc that's been going for a while. This is the part of the Part 3 manga that probably made it my least favorite JoJo part. Coming off of the beginning of Stardust Crusaders, the Battle in Egypt is long, redundant, slow and kind of boring as hell. These fights don't need to be as long as they are and most of the fight gimmicks just don't work for me. The Oingo/Boingo episodes promise a welcome comedic break, but instead fall flat on their face.

Oh well, at least we get the D'Arby the gambler fight, one of my favorites from Part 3 and more will come. I'll continue watching, because even bad JoJo is still JoJo, but man am I ready just to move on to Part 4.

Now that Yamada has started and I start to trim some easy shows, still the docket current stands at 19. No way in hell can I watch 19 shows. 12 maybe.

Are you just spending all your free time watching anime lol? How much sleep are you guys getting?

The rise of the 3-5-12 minute show or the 13-episode standard cour has been a godsend for me and I'm still not watching as much as I'd like, lol

Well I can spare an hour most week nights. Thats just watching 2-3 whilst preparing, cleaning up and eating meals.

But yeah, 90% of my tv watching is anime. Lucky theres little to none western fictional tv that is interesting to me.

As for show lengths, as I've said before, longs shows scare me off. Not sure I've seen anything longer than 24. Certain none of the super long shonen shows.

Yep. I was big on epic long Anime when I was at school, would love to Marathon a 26 or more Episode ones and appreciate its intricate storyline and deep character development.
Nowadays, I have barely time. I am struggling to finish Shin Sekai Yori and that seemed one of those shows where I would love to watch when I was younger.
Now, all of those 13 episodes ones have been amazingly consistent and I am loving this sudden emphasis on short and concise shows.

I'm still on Ep. 3, I don't find it as good as Zero, IMO.

That's because F/SN just isn't near as good as F/Z. Even the route they're adapting, arguable the most consistent of the 3, is a mess of pacing, characters and plot line. UFOtable is doing their best to fix it up, but they've only got so much to work with. At least we get great fight animation.

Also, Shiro is awful. You're not in his head all the time in the anime, so that fixes a lot, but he's still damn near insufferable at times.

Like him or not the narrative hinges solely upon him, this is where the anime fails as an adaptation as F/sn was constructed with being behind Shirou's PoV at all times rather than having an ensemble cast. Trying to change that without making some serious revisions and restructuring the story muddles everything pretty bad.

It doesn't help that the changes Ufotable have made have actually negatively affected the story, like the pointless filler in this last episode.

I usually binge on weekends since I dont have much time to watch them during the week. Maybe during breakfast and dinner. But back in college I could complete a few series per week.

I have a massive list of anime / manga / games / movies I'd like to get to. I already have very little free time but spreading it out between entertainment, learning programming, art classes, gym and friends/family its really hard.

Depending really. In rare situation (like a holiday and it's a bad weather on that day) I might try to watch as much episodes as I can for a show. Realistic, I watch on average 2 episodes per day during the weekday if I have nothing to do (4 on the weekend). Also, after I finish a show, I give myself a day or two before I go through my next collection. Still, this isn't 100% on stone as they will be time where I only stick one anime and it will take me more than a month to finish even if it's just 26 episodes or less.

I honestly don't agree. All the changes have done is trim all the redundant, boring moments from the VN. You lose a bit to character development here and there, but that's expected when you're going from a textual to a visual medium. Not being with Shiro all the time is a great choice, for me, as well as you actually get to spend time with the far more interesting parts of the cast.

It doesn't all work for the better, I agree. Some instances have Shiro's actions seem even more random and strange because you aren't in his POV, but I think the sacrifices it makes on that side are far outweighed by the far faster pace.

Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches Episode 1

For anyone who has read the manga, does this seem fast pace? Its been a year since I read it :p Seems like it is..however I am enjoying it so far. And how many episode is it if anyone knows :)

Fasted paced? I thought it was going at a good pacing, personally want all the key people introduced sooner than later. Manga dragged at times.

Speaking of the jdrama, how did it end?

Well Im interested in seeing in how the anime will do this with its 12 episodes (since the jdrama only had 8), though I think it will end with the same key event.
though hopefully not with the same panty type conclusion thing ruining the ceremony to try to get rid of their powers lol.

Damn it's never ending, each time i watch one anime i add four.

get used to this. Theres a backlog of literally thousands.

Show By Rock 2

This is surprisingly good. ShinganCrimsonz are a lot more fun than the girl group since they don't just blandly all get along, and they don't have anyone like that bassist girl who acts like a creepy stalker around Cyan. Even the music is pretty alright. But I don't want to watch this kind of show. I'm just not in the mood for it anymore. So it'll have to go on without me.

of course its good! Knew from the start :D

The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki 02

I can see where the disappointment about this series is coming from. This series is fairly typical rom-com stuff taking out the interesting sci-fi stuff and injecting a fairly typical shy girl personality into Nagato. It's completely generic and has almost nothing to do with the original series other than sharing the same cast of characters. Yet, that's all what I was expecting and I've been enjoying these first two episodes so far. Haruhi does make an appearance and there are references to the original but this is largely Nagato's show now.

It'd be nice if they had a visit to Alice's home again, since they did use it at the beginning. I can't imagine that they'd do a full trip though.
