thats fine, but man how can you forget this piece?

Ha that does ring a bell now that I hear it. The music is really nice, and different, no idea why none of the music really worked for me in-context with the show. The art-style and visuals just threw me for a loop I guess, even the image used in the video you linked looks like it comes from a different world compared to the music, which might be why it works for a lot of people as its not what you'd expect. I guess when one element of a show falls flat for me, the rest of it kind of evaporates too, because that track alone is nice enough.

Soundtracks can be be very weird in how they capture your attention, and the context in which it plays in makes a huge difference, at least for me. For example, take Angel of Love from Perfect Blue, alone its a standard pop song, but coupled with the film and the tone of said film, and he track becomes one of my favorite tracks from any film, same with Alone But At Ease from the same film. It's no wonder Perfect Blue is in the top 5 anime shows/movies for me! The juxtaposition of pretty much everything in that film and the mixed messages it sends you makes you feel uneasy.

There are plenty of shows that have great soundtracks that are utilized poorly.
There are also great soundtracks entirely forgotten or never noticed because it was attached to some mediocre or non popular show.

The pinnacle of TV animation is Hyouka and Dennou Coil.
They certainly are quite the achievement.

This is actually super-easy to do. Dennou Coil is probably the best animated anime tv show and I doubt that will change anytime soon. For the rest, you can just consult this handy list http://2chan.us/wordpress/2010/05/01/sakugawikis-list-of-recommended-sakuga-anime/#tv
I prefer this list if you want to be somewhat up to date https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...GNEZlVOdFhuU3AxZ2c&f=true&noheader=true&gid=3

So now that the 3 chapter rule has been met for most new shows this season:

Seraph of the End:
First episode had potential but then it turned into "every shonen cliché ever".
Childhood friends on opposing sides, Highschool setting, main characters that need to learn the value of friendship and teamwork, etc
I like the backgrounds though, and I'm hoping there might be some decent fights in the future.
Will wait some more episodes before dropping

Shokugeki No Souma
Interesting concept ruined by stupid fanservice
Dropped

Arslan Senki

Pretty good. I like the setting, the concept of the story and most of the supporting cast so far.
Princess (because come on, he looks and acts as a princess) Arslan is kind of annoying and sadly falls into a character trope I tend to dislike (when character development is sloooooooooooooooooowly growing from a pussy into a decent characer)
But I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more

Kekkai Sensen
Probably my favorite one. I just love how creative and crazy it can get. It's the type of show that because of the world and situations could only really work as an Anime and I love it for it.
I love the whole art direction and I like characters.
I don't really mind that there isn't some big story and I'm fine with it being a "wacky adventure of the week" type of show. Though I think it might be possible that last episde went into what they will use as a main story

And the ones I've only seen 2 chapters of:

Ninja Slayer
Hey, I missed flash animations!!!
I read somewhere that it's supposed to be like a parody of what western audiences think of anime, or something like that. Looking at it from that angle it's pretty fun

Saint Seiya Souls of Gold
I like the setup. The animation quality is kind of bad though, and it seems to uses the uninspired attacks from the original show. But hey, it's Saint Seiya!

Magical Meow Meow Taruto

What an adorably cute, super kawaiiiiii and fun show this is. If you like shows for the younger crowd, aren't afraid to watch some girly stuff, like the word Nyan being said often, you'll love Magical Meow Meow! It starts off slow, like many Slice of Life anime, but by episode 7, things really take off. Episodic based anime, with a larger plot going on in the background. Really enjoyed watching this.

"especially our young people." Get out of here with that baloney, Japanimation can and is digested by all walks of life, and by people of all ages. Why my great grandfather himself (RIP) sometimes indulged in the anime known as Beyblade and also had the heart of the cards, with a feverish liking for the hit anime Yu-Gi-Oh!, which was unfortunately the death of him, he never could get that last Egyptian God card...

Have you seen Jormungand?

Heh, this is one of anime's great truths. I can't remember a single anime where she has been working on the OST and not liking that part oh so very much.

This reminds me very much of a similar piece in Mai Hime.

Yeah pretty much all her work, though some of it sounds similar, is nevertheless memorable.

Staph! I have plans for the evening that don't involve listening Kajiura music on youtube / WinAmp. ;-; It's like every time someone mentions Susumu Hirasawa or Berserk + music in a single comment. I pretty much literally cannot stop myself from putting Forces into whatever player I have handy at the moment and jamming the shit out of it for the next 15 minutes.

Shirobako 24 [the end]

You did it girl, you did it.

As every series I fall in love, it was hard to me seeing the last episode and after the high point of 23, I had resisted myself to watch the ending until now.

Making anime it´s probably much rougher and soul crushing in reality, and in Shirobako you feel the tension and the struggles of the process but it´s kind enough to make sure all the pieces conveniently fall in place, even using a bit of fantasy. But at the end, and saying this as someone who knows little about anime, the show feels sincere in its portrayal and celebration of anime industry.

Lovely show, and as sad as I am seeing it ending, I feel fulfilled by it. I would love a S2, but I'm not sure if they have plot elements to sustain another go. And if this is how it ends, I am satisfied.

Ef- A Tale of Memories ep.4-8:
This is an odd one for sure. I'm not sure I can continue this one, with how emotionally confusing it is. There is an overriding feeling of sadness and despair that falls into the background of this show, but at the same time, it's also such a mix of emotions that are so jumbled it's mind numbing. Is there anything redeeming about it in the end?

I think if you're that far its decent enough to finish. But if you're struggling I'd suggest don't bother with Melodies since its pretty "meh" compared to Memories.

Euphonium 04

I know nothing about actual bands and stuff and this episode was a bit heavy on all that. I did really like all the scenes outside of the band though. Kumiko is carrying this show by herself with all her cute reactions.

Mikagura Gakuen Kumikyoku Episode 4:

While indeed the strange charisma of Eruna is keeping this show entertaining, she does have a supporting cast as well and we get some insight in to the Drama Club of which Eruna teams up in order to train in the ways of Sentai.

I kind of enjoy how even though each episode employs a trope, the next episode outright admits it and they're like 'so here's how we'll handle it'.

Her music is so addictive.

The faces in Euphonium arek ind of uncharacteristic of KyoAni and reminds me of Shaft.
This is a good thing mind.

While adding to my growing backlog of shows to watch, I decided to watch the dub of Panty and Stocking (Only the first two episodes so far); this show is fantastic. I knew it would be like an adult version of a Cartoon Network show, but man, I wasn't expecting them to ramp everything up so damn high, but it's much better this. I see why people recommend the dub over sub for the show now.

I think I'm in a loop today when I've watched this scene and listened to this score on and off again all day, it's just so damn good aND you can really feel the impact of the moment.

Right? Definitely one of my favorite episodes in an anime ever; that scene really is so fantastic and well done.

It's how I imagine your personality would be if you were a female protagonist in an anime.

Welp. After I finish the remaining shows I was watching from last season I'll be sure to check it out.

Koufuku Graffiti - 09-12 [END]

Another solid show from last season that I'm glad I decided wrap up. The food porn was glorious.
