It accomplished exactly what it set out to do, and while it may not be for everyone, it's wonderfully tailored by the artists who poured their blood into its creation and a perfect fit for animation lovers in sync with its wacky vision. Kill la Kill is one of a kind, and its impact won't soon be forgotten.

UUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

This entire situation is fucking stupid. So Fuhrer Koyasu reveals that the school is using immortal vampire super soldiers. Since they invaded and attacked first I dunno why this would matter. But then they reveal that they have people getting unknown juice sucked out of them! And they focus right on someone in the audiences dad who is dying and his last word is her name! HOW CONVENIENT

Now obviously when you are meeting in a political setting to discuss how to beat back the Evil Space Nazis you should probably not jump to conclusions from those same Space Nazi's. OR you can say fuck that and just start gunning people down because they are all dangerous species? Whatever that means because they just decided to bring it up as if it was something super important right now. And didn't they JUST SEE that the Space Vampires are immortal and all these people they are gunning down are clearly not Space Vampires? Is this some Salem witch trials shit? I guess that would require thinking, and since 4 minutes later Space Nazis and Extremely Gullible Politicians are in an alliance, they clearly must not do a lot of that. Unless this was a trap to begin with, which doesn't make much sense either, but I guess it would explain why they brought an entire army with them.

Then the students make the decision to go right back to the people killing them, selling out their Valvrave pilots too, because they've been useless as fuck so far. They get betrayed. What a shocker.

And now we're starting the NINGEN versus BAKEMONO bullshit. Gee I am not tired of that no siree. It was so amazingly well done in Parasyte and Kill la Kill, I'm glad it's here!

If this is supposed to be (Spoiled because lots of people are currently watching in this thread)
the Euphinator scene, that was ep 22
from Geass then no, it doesn't work. You failed. That was somewhat contrived but it at least felt impactful and had build up. I don't think I've seen sheer stupidity and contrivance this bad since episode 4 of Pyscho-Pass 2.

Pizza Hut party for Suzaku. Glasses girl is jealous of Euphys new knight. Loyd announces his engagement.
Lelouch ponders what to do about Suzaku. Kallen attempts to kill Suzaku, but is stopped by Lelouch. Lelouch attempts a plan to capture Suzaku, it goes poorly. Also, there is something called a thought elevator. We don't know what it is yet, but I'm now expecting this show to end with "congratulations"
If
Euphy and glasses girl don't get somehow end up together
by the end of the show I will fly to Japan and burn down a Pizza Hut.

More Cross Ange possibly? I don't know if a sequel can match the original. It was a special kind of wild ride that I don't think can be replicated.

Pleiades 4

Hikaru is kind of lonely. And likes music. And is afraid of it. Either her or Subaru believe the moon is made out of cheese. Still decent overall.

the key with shows like that is that they honestly try to play it straight, and take scenarios seriously enough that the narrative is well animated and produced, but still hilariously off.
Code Geass absolutely mastered this effect and we have been long searching for a new high.

Honestly Cajun...I can't help but think you really do underestimate the people behind Code Geass in various ways.

-Their explicit self-awareness about craziness and silliness being sources of entertainment that should be embraced, rather than ignored or hidden under the carpet.

-Their ability to make several key parts of the show legitimately work for a whole lot of people, even after the most WTF of plot twists has made some of them laugh.

You'll find many shows that fit your description or have at least one of these elements, but very few that contain both at the same time.

Clannad ep.1-2
So I did it guys, I was looking for something to compliment the insane nature of Kill La Kill and I think I did. However, I'm not sure what I'm watching just yet, but I appreciate the artwork, and bro-banter so far, but could there possibly be a more eccentric girl he could find first? Things just got serious at the end of ep.2.

Girls get naked. Lelouch gets a new toy. Kururugi gets in trouble.
Guess Lelouch found an acceptable use of the geass on Kururugi. But that will probably cost him in the future. One thing I forgot that I realized last episode, is that because of her blindness Lelouch's sister is immune to his geass. I estimate the probability of this being relevant to be 100%.

Gintama 269

Tsukuyo is back and glorious as ever. Her interactions with Gintoki is the best in the series, they basically fit each other so well. Best ship if there ever was one. Keita learning his history from Tsukuyo and Gin was hilarious. I mean there were Gorillas everywhere including in the Shogun era.

That realization when you see the manga art of Ho Love Ru in the episode is actually better than the real manga art for To Love Ru.😌

Hiding your porn magazine has never been this fun.

I don't know if it's the frequent use of bright white against crushed blacks or the nightmare sequence or the way the characters will frequently talk in a whisper mid-sentence

But something seems sinister about this.

ehehehehee

Clannad is going to twist your emotions in knots. Be sure to watch After Story too.

Yay!!

The opening episodes of Clannad are pretty slow I'll admit but it's trying to lay it's foundation for its story. I look forward to hearing your impressions. Especially of After Story.

Second half of After Story will have you crying manly tears.
Shame it didn't stick the landing for me.

Shirobako END

Haven't been updating this on an episode by episode basis, but the entire process of the second series was fun from start to finish. This was a great change of pace from the rather ridiculous stuff I've been watching recently like Gintama, Jojo's, and chugging my way through the Chimera Ant arc in HXH. (Oof, that pacing, they even straight up say it in one of the episodes that it's only been like 3 minutes!)

The editor getting what was coming to him in episode 23 is the best thing ever. I would've been extremely disappointed if he didn't get the sandbagging he deserved. IS IT A FUNNY STORY NOW? Kinoshita going Cowboy Shoto was great too, as was his conversation with Nogame.

Now back to catching up on the other spring shows, and then diving back into the Gintama and Chimera Ant hole.
