Looks like otaku girl gag series. Can somebody explain to me what the series with the chibi-Saber in the bear suit is supposed to be about and why people are hype for it? I know nothing about it.

How good a show is is rated on my scale of "how badly do I want to see the next episode".
This season only BBB and Jojo met that mark. Soma has been fine. I watched the first 3 episodes of Arslan and it was fine but I feel like it should have been a lot better than it was given the pedigree. It was nice to see some relatively grounded fantasy but it never blew me away. I'll return to it but I'm in no rush. Everything else is kind of whatever :/ I feel Spring from last year was much better.
Wonder what it'd be like with sound. It'd be perfect if it's awkward silence too.

Arslan is getting better and better. How many episodes are planned?

I just watched the first episode of Arslan Senki because somebody mentioned it in this thread.
It's alright. I'll keep watching. Being from the guy who gave us LOGH, probably the finest anime ever, you expect greatness and uhhh, the first episode doesn't exactly live up to that.

It's alright. I'll keep watching. Being from the guy who gave us LOGH, probably the finest anime ever, you expect greatness and uhhh, the first episode doesn't exactly live up to that. The beginning starts off just like the beginning of... well, Dune, right? Did anybody else think that was kinda a bit of a cliche? The prince is training with his military advisor to be a good swordsman because one day he'll be king and there are enemies all around them and he needs to be prepared and etc etc. It's basically the first five pages of Herbert's Dune. That seemed troubling to me.
Though, it does have a lot of the tell-tale trademarks from LOGH, so there is a feeling of familiarity. There's the random closeup shots of characters with their name and rank right under them, letting you know that they're gonna be important in the future, even though for now you have absolutely no idea who they are or why you should care. There's the narrator at the end of the episode, probably spoiling what's gonna happen in the next episode, which was pretty darn annoying in LOGH. And there's this feeling of an underlying theme that'll be explored throughout the series. In LOGH, it was a philosophical debate about which was better, a corrupt democracy or an enlightened dictatorship? Arslan seems to be presenting the tension between a fanatical theocracy which believes in equality among men, and a more egalitarian regime which nonetheless upholds slavery. That's some intriguing stuff, and I do look forward to seeing more of that play out in the coming seasons.
Some of the CGI is just unforgivable. There's this one overhead shot of some CGI guards robotically marching down the alley which just looked awful. Like something out of a mid 90s PS1 video game, when they were just transitioning to 3D models. Holy shit it was bad. What were they thinking? Is the budget that small? Good lord.
The environments are okay, they've got this kind of generic Assassin's Creed 1/Prince of Persia look to them which is competent, but not particularly memorable. Uh, the Prince's mother seems like a real cold bitch. Something's up with her. And his father, the King is probably going to die soon, just going by the ending scenes. Ya know, where the prince talks about how he's so young and his dad's gonna reign for a long, long time? Yeah, that King's a goner. Only thing worse is to be a cop two weeks before retirement. I'm not sure how the King's gonna get it, so it might be from the trusted court vizier, a la Aladdin, or it might be a family member, a la The Lion King, but... I don't think the King's gonna be around much long.
It's entertaining enough to watch, so I'll keep watching and posting. But I tell ya, it's gonna have to go a long way to get out from under the shadow of LOGH, which probably won't ever be topped. I need to see something fresh and interesting, and not just the first five pages from Dune.
Stuff I'll probably watch
Gangsta (I have no idea why people are so hyped for this and I know nothing about it apart from the fact that the title is stupid)
It's an occasionally moderately amusing and often numbingly stupid comedy (most often otaku-centric comedy) and incest-bait series about an otaku imouto girl and her big brother, a young salaryman. They live in a one-room apartment together, and she always makes a mess, eats junk food, plays videogames, goes to school, etc. and he tries to make her clean up, cooks, sometimes indulges her, goes to work, etc. She's got three female friends too, all of whom also have big brothers who they think well of, probably to a quasi-incestuous degree. I wish that I'd be wrong about this stuff sometimes, that there could be animes with siblings with normal relationships, or close ones, without the moronic incestbait you usually see... but in a show like this, aimed at the audience it is? Sadly, I doubt I am.Can somebody explain to me what the series with the chibi-Saber in the bear suit is supposed to be about and why people are hype for it? I know nothing about it.
Some of us weren't lucky enough to have already learned our lesson with Tytania some years ago. RIP

Looks like a typical self contained story limited to 20 minutes. ¯\_(ツ_/¯

I've been trying to figure out who could even theoretically do Prison School at this point. Most studios are accounted for next season.
The only ones left are seemingly:
Sunrise
B Studio at BONES
That Trigger/Mizushima project
Production IG
Some of the above have major shows in the Fall such as Haikyuu so that might be draining resources. It's really bizaree we have no info or even leaks at this juncture.
It's porn so they had to entirely outsource it to Korea.
Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! TV anime by DEEN, directed by Takaomi Kanasaki, series composition Makoto Uezu , character design Koichi Kikuta

I'm actually curious as to how much is due to the current anime being an adaptation of an adaptation from a different author, or how much of it is due to the lacking of the original source material. It's been a while since I saw the original OVA series, so I might rewatch that eventually and see how it compares to the current.
Summer, eh?
Will watch:
Charlotte
Himouto! Umaru-chan
Miss Monochrome - The Animation 2
Non Non Biyori Repeat
Teekyuu 5
Might watch, depending on impressions here:
Gakkou Gurashi!
Sore ga Seiyuu!
Working!!!
Well, to be clear, there's no dialogue at all explaining why the character would change their mind on what appears to be a sacred, centuries old tradition.
The anime is good , but the VN is really, REALLY superior. Is the adaptation bad? My friend rec'd it to me so I'm contemplating whether to watch it first or not.
Your post is incomplete .My current list for summer is as follows:
prisma illya 2wei herz
Lol.plz no
I'm pretty curious about this 'Overlord' show Madhouse is doing next season.
abf wrong yet again about p. much everything
Check www.anichart.net/summerI don't think it was posted ( apologises if it was )but do you guys have a complete list of shows for summer ?
25 episodes are planned for this adaptation. Additional ones would have to be planned for a different work (OVA/additional season).Arslan is getting better and better. How many episodes are planned?
It's kinda nostalgic to see this scene. That's where I really fell in love with Takeda's work and Takeda as an author. Reading v3 now and it feels like so much time has gone by since this point.omg new euphonium preview
make it so kyoani
I would shop more with Aniplex if they just offered more standard releases. Every thing seems to be a "limited edition" bundled with cds, "artbooks", and postcards I'll never use. Seems like it jacks up the price tremendously too. I've bought the Madoka Rebellion movie from them with no problem since it was decently priced and had a standard release. They're offering standard releases for Kill La Kill, so that's a start.
This season, the good shows are Rin-ne and Yamada and the Seven Witches, and they're both great!

There's occasional fake yuribait and one of the girls might like Umaru's brother too, but make no mistake, almost all relationship stuff in the series is incestuous -- for the main pair, about how close they are, about how really the two of them don't like being apart despite how annoying she is (because of how she acts at home), etc etc. This series has almost no actual relationship anything in it, so don't expect something like Oreimo; this is a comedy series first. But when, for example, in one of the more recent chapters in the manga,... that's clear incest-bait, even if the series never has gone anywhere with it. Of course there's also that they live together in that one-room apartment (they each have their own half of the room; hers is always a mess, of course), neither having a boyfriend/girlfriend (because they care too much about eachother), stuff like that above, etc., but there aren't real relationships here. It's still really stupid though.he goes on a business trip and she follows him on the trip because she Umaru got jealous because Onii-san was standing next to a woman (who is his boss) and is on a first-name basis with her. Then they touch a statue together, a statue where' it say that when two people touch this together good things happen for them'; and 'is supposed to be reserved for lovers, but there's no rule prohibiting siblings
Oh, when not at home (eg. at school), Umaru is beautiful and popular, and acts like a normal girl of that type, though VERY little time is spent showing her school life, outside of interactions with those three friends of hers. Then she gets home and puts that hoodie thing on, and she turns into a one-foot-tall chibi. There's a running joke (it really isn't funny at all) about how people actually can't recognize her in the other "form", because she seems to actually change size even though that is quite impossible. One of the female friends thinks that Umaru and Umaru-with-hoodie are different people, for instance. :S I don't get it, but it's stupid.
So yeah, why are people looking forward to it? I really have no idea,.if the anime is anything like the manga it's going to be really dumb. I have read the manga, I admit it, but it's an awful series and it's a hate-read, for me, really. That and the chapters are only 8 pages each. Still, I hate it, but haven't managed to stop reading the manga yet. Bah. There are occasional amusing parts, but not nearly enough to actually justify reading it, much less watching an anime. And I definitely won't be watching the anime.
100% intentionnal
Wagnaria is leaving Crunchyroll on Sunday. Worth watching?
Oh I totally agree with you, especially when quality and performance are concerned. However, with regards to Euphonium, you should have no worries there. PONYCAN US, so far, seems to maintain that high quality standard on par with AOA (Denki-Gai in particular uses a 50GB disc for 4 episodes, and it shows) . I honestly try to stay away from a lot of the Funimation releases because of the compromises in video quality.
My original point was just that i'm not as enthusiastic as others when it comes to something like Fate/Zero. I'm more than happy to pay premium for the shows I like if the quality is there to match.
THAT HAIR !!!
Look at that hair !!
I feel like something got stuck in ...well ..you know ...
B Gata was a lot of fun. I love childish crude humor, so it kept me very entertained. Plus, the whole set up with her being the super awkward, but highly aggressive one was hilarious in itself.
Seitokai Yakuendomo huh. What's this one about? I'll have to look it up.
I'm going to o start Little Busters soon as I've heard it's pretty good, plus it has baseball in it, so it's a bonus, lol. Now, in regards to Clannad if you like Slice of life dramas, this is a serious must watch, and must post/share. The first season may be slow at times, however, it is one big set up for Clannad After Story which was amazing. I mean a complete whirlwind of events and emotions. So much so that the last 8-10 episodes should be watched back to survive.
