This OVA is a great treat if you're a fans of the original TV series and movie. The entire OVA is basically all the popular music which is sing in the movie with footage from the movie and the TV show. Also, it have some live footage from the war and japan which is mix with the animation. A bit odd I have to say but it's subtle.
This OVA doesn't really bring in much till the 2nd last music where new footage (which is actually footage which didn't get in the movie) which show Minmei visiting the stage before departing and she has a vision of Hikaru and Misa appearing to show their support for her before the sequence transitions to the concert and departure of the Megaroad-01. A great way to end this series.
For me, it's a great treat as you got to see the original main characters you know for the last time and see them age much older from the last time we saw it in the movie.
Would recommend this to only the fans of the show as it's a treat for us.
So what exactly is this? Seems like people curious what foreigners think of the seasons Anime, but in the comments it makes it seem not everyone watches Anime, at least with the bad translation.
I only got one quote and it was my love for the ushio and tora OP lol

A very interesting episode even though the pacing is slow here. You got to see this alien robot with this odd looking bird following him. Doesn't look like he will hurt anyone until you hurt the bird which the MC Kai just did and it piss him off.
This episode mostly consist of the new characters of not knowing what they support to do or if they can go back home or (the big part) whether to help the asshole, Jouichirou, who is about to get his ass kick by the alien robot. I guess Jouichirou bite more than he can chew as suit power can't be use anymore to fight the alien and the alien robot can see him even if he use his power to disappear. The whole please apologize for what he did in the last episode from the biker gang member boss is stupid as you can see Jouichirou either won't do it or if he do, just do it to get out of the tight space he is in and will back stab the team later on. Kinda proof my theory when he won't apologize for it.
Seeing Masaru is going to save this asshole as he want everyone to come back will be interesting to watch of where it will goes as they is now 3 more episodes left in the season. Will Jouichirou back stab his teammate? Will Masaru helping to safe the asshole mean the team is now the target of the alien robot? (I guess it will now). What happend if Jouichirou get the 10 points? That is something I am interested to see as it might be something important.
Like I say, an interesting but slow for this episode. I guess the next few episode is where it will get interesting and maybe crazy.
Guts' backstory is pretty ridiculous. The overbearing nihilism here would probably make me quit this if the production wasn't as good as it is. Lots of interesting visual choices.
We worldwide yet?
Gotcha thanks guys. Looking forward to this. I'll probably do an episode or two a day, we'll see. Sometimes I get sucked in and binge like crazy aha.
Well...now, they is some interesting stuff to see here. You got to see the 2nd battle with the alien robot which didn't last too long when you think about it. Got to say, Masaru manage to get himself together to fight against the robot even though all he did is hold it and squeeze it till something pop out from it (not the nicest thing to see). Yea, more talk but this time is more direct from female Kai as you start to realize she literally need someone to save her friend/ crush from getting kill to the point she is willing to fight the alien (even though she isn't going to do much when you think about it). Thank god the MC Kai come in and did help with Masaru to take down the alien robot.
I guess the big scene and really the one which is important is Jouichirou. Man...he got fuck bad and at the end of this episode he die from his injury which is cause by the alien robot. You got to see his backstory a bit of how he die and why he is bitter of the world and other people. To the point, you feel sorry for him a bit (well...not for me as he is an asshole character from the start and have weird fetish ). Now, we know why he need to get 100 points which now make sense and also explain that the people who did survive this game will keep on playing even if they don't want till they get 100 points which become get free from the game or get kill.
Also, the game isn't done yet as they is another alien which they need to kill. I am betting it's the scene two episode before which show the alien home. Guess those bird will become important now. Also...another biker guy got kill for not playing the game which scare those people who leave to come back.
A very interesting and sad episode. Want to see what next is going to happen to them now, they have to get the 2nd alien before the time run out.
I'll bite. While I'd rather not buy JP anime series BDs because of how they milk the audience with two episodes per disc at a ridiculous price tag, I'd be kind of okay with the movie. Even more so since I haven't watched it yet and intend to go watch the second part in theaters if I get the chance when I go to Japan for TGS.
I'm sorry, but her statement is very vague. It doesn't point out the specific things happening in the world to want to warrant this experiment, and why it has so much of a backing from the government and various corporations. I remember her saying that very well, but it doesn't really answer anything and just kind of brings up more questions.

It doesn't matter actually, it's basically something to work towards, get things moving. The actual show is about the experiment and how it affects/affected the people.
So earlier someone wanted me to write up my criticism about the upcoming arc in ReZero. I wanted to read the raws of the manga first before discussing it, just to see what the general tone is like and get a rough idea of the pacing. Unfortunately there are no manga raws of the upcoming arc. I also wanted to catch up on the anime so as to see the direction level of the show. So I guess I'm primarily going off the pastebin and posting my feelings as to how the anime will handle all of this.
My main problem with the show right now is that it has a tendency of lingering or focusing on things it shouldn't and as a result the pacing can be drudgingly slow. The primary problem I see with the upcoming arc is that it's going to be slow as fuck, with a tendency of lingering on really dark material. Now I don't know if the director is going to be smart about this and make it so that they burn through the darker material but I've seen little indication in the past two arcs that he has any inclination of doing so. As a result
I'm suspecting there will be multiple episodes of flat out torture. The show has a tendency of showing some of the more graphic elements but I'm wondering how far the torture will go and how much room the broadcasts will give them
. Moments like that work better in very short spurts as opposed to having drawn out affairs. I also think it's a shitty use of the time travel gimmick and is more for shock appeal rather than an actual necessity of the storyline. The extent to which the author delves into this, feels mastabatury such as
Subaru literally going insane due to the torture
. Not to mention I'm not sure why after a certain point he's even still playing this 'game'. According to fans, some of the charm of Subaru is that he's a normal person but his behaviour in the upcoming arc is in no way how a regular person would behave. I don't see how the direction can spruce up somebody being a
literal drooling idiot for a period of time and still wanting to go through these loops
. I'm suspecting that due to how utterly dark this material gets, it's going to come across as comedic ala Your Lie in April or Akame Ga Kill.
Then there's the
ending which just feels like somebody pissing on your face. I'm generally fine with tragic ending but this feels unnecessarily savage, to the point of coming across as contrived. That said, I suppose it'll work as a good cliffhanger so that people will read the light novel.
it comes across a bit like anime-original material despite it being from the light novel in that
nope the main character has to fall in love with the designated heroine
.
Oh and some of the magic stuff is Stand level stupid.
Thankfully, I can understand spoken Japanese way better than written, and that plus the animation will help me fill in the blanks. I remember it took me forever to infer that Episode was
turning into mist
during his fight with Koyomi because I didn't know the kanji for that; I might even be wrong about that, since I merely infered what the ability could be using what I know of vampire folklore as a reference.
Reminds me when one of those Japanese blogs made such a thing just about my live watch impressions about episode 3, I think, about of Girls und Panzer.
The combination of war anime/manga and real military know how impressed some people in Oversea.

Just imagine it's taking place in today's world and they're trying to figure out a way to keep Trump/Sanders/Clinton supporters from killing each other.

Monogatari fluctuates from very interesting, casual and easily comprehensible speech to something utterly unheard which makes it a difficult choice to watch unsubbed but boy would it be a delight.

Apparently the show might not go into the torture stuff. I've seen pictures and read summaries of the next arc from the LN and I haven't seen any mention or indication of the torture stuff there.
The pastebin spoilers I had were from the Web Novel, which the LN is based on. So I assuming there might be changes.
Arc 3 is also going to end with the next volume of the LN, so it's currently unclear if it'll go the route of the Web Novel as well.
Coming in the 2nd last episode of the season, quite a few things happen. Now, knowing they have to find the 2nd alien, the team split into two with Masaru, female Kai, and the random idol guy while MC Kai, and the two biker gang member become the 2nd. Unfortunately, this didn't start well as one of the gang member force MC Kai to do the dirty job to find the 2nd alien and use him as bait while he might take it down from a safe area.
You got to see how the suit work as it help protect Masaru from the attack but even with this, the power of the suit is limited and once out, you can't do much. Manage to see female Kai stand up for herself and try to safe her crush from getting kill. Have a feeling those two will have a strong bond somehow even though Masaru didn't really have any feeling toward her in this season.
For the other team, yea, MC Kai realize how fuck he is without something to protect himself and it doesn't look good as we got to see the final alien monster which they need to beat to finish the game.
More dead people from this game. The grandma and her nephew is now dead which isn't surprising as they're basically useless. Kinda sad but something expect. Now, let's see how the showdown will end of this season.
Just imagine it's taking place in today's world and they're trying to figure out a way to keep Trump/Sanders/Clinton supporters from killing each other.

I'll still be missing out on most puns either way, but seeing the characters' actions animated helps a lot with context.
Also, reading raw LNs has actually made me appreciate the way most characters have their own unique speech patterns, since it helps the readers tell who's speaking without having to explicitly state so in dialogs or narration. For example, it'd be really hard for me to confuse lines among the assertive Haruhi, one-word Nagato, frail Asahina, overly formal Koizumi and deadpan Kyon because of how their speech patterns are so unique to them compared to everybody else's. Thinking about that also made me wonder about how much of a pain it'd be to achieve the same level of readability on a localized version, mostly due to how English and Spanish don't have easy ways out of honorifics, varied first-person pronouns or adapting certain speech patterns in a way that doesn't come across as overly forced.

Very nicely put, couldnt have said it better myself. It's just at this point mean spirited and will come across as edgy coldsteel the hedgehog if not done correctly. Not to mention the way Subaru was written in that pastebin made me dislike his character.
I'll be checking impressions of the show week after week, especially from those who are more critical. I don't know who in here is still watching the show that isn't just absolutely loving it as I was, hopefully there is.
The next arc really isn't that much about Emilia so I imagine besides the beginning she doesn't show up much. As a result, Puck probably won't appear much either.
Joker game 8-9 Double Joker arc
Started out like any others episode, with spy doing spy things, but with a twist. It was actually a spy from another agency, the opposite of D-Agency. Military instead of civilian, allowed to kill, and if all come to worse, they must be prepared to die.
The introduction to other spy agency bring something new to the table, but i think this is one of those case where i can see it work as a novel, but not so much in anime.
Based on every episode so far, I assume that why Joker game is popular as a mystery novel/ short stories was because the reader was more involved in it, with the reader trying to figure out who the spy is based on the clue in the story. Kinda like a mistery novel that usually give enough hint for the reader to find out who's the culprit, though in this case, who is the spy.
Those things not really worked in anime adaptation since we know every spy identity from the very beginning. It change it from "guess who the spy" into "spy doing awesome spy stuff". At least that's what i felt when i watch this series. I could be wrong though, so if someone already read the source, feel free to correct me.
