As awesome as more Kaiji would be, the series just isn't interesting anymore after what they've already adapted. Part 3 is Mahjong, part 4 doesn't even have Kaiji participating, and part 5 is poker.

well to be fair they would just be localizing what is already been adapting. as much as I want to dream a successful skip beat kickstarter project could lead to a new season, the odds of any license rescue by them leading to a new season is next to zero unless she suddenly gets a megahit and can fund a new season herself >.<

it's fun watching people react to MHA and hating the Tsundare character :p
it's nice to see people at least hate a generic tsundare character even if they have to be a male instead of female to happen :p

it gives me hope that one day everyone will see eye to eye with me and hate generic female tsundare characters as well.

I'd say the difference is Bakugou is far more vicious than most tsunderes and his target is also someone that's easily been psychologically fucked up by the guy. Most female tsunderes outside of maybe Dokuro don't even compare to the damage he's done.

Let's put it this way - from the first episode, Kiznaiver falls almost completely in line with products like Code:Breaker or Tokyo Ghoul. I didn't see anything there that I hadn't seen elsewhere in manga or anime similar to these.

How is Kiznaiver anything like those? I mean, I like Tokyo Ghoul (Code:Breaker can go fuck itself), but I don't see the comparison at all.

kaiji poker sounds like the best

Of the 10 or so chapters that are out, it's not bad. It's just kind of weird in that
Kaiji has had the upper hand almost the entire time and something absolutely stupid would have to happen for him to lose it.

Hot damn I really love the way Durarara ended. What an impressive tapestry this show weaved.

I'd be quite satisfied if it never came back. But also I'm really curious about the newer content I've heard about...

he is a nice guy compared to this psychopath.

at least bakugou has a weak reason for his hate. the later is just running around committing hate crimes against men because she is cute :p

I would also argue that the main reason the other tsundere don't compare to the damage he has done is because they are such hallow shells they don't both writing any real depth to the character aside from the tsun and dere personalities. with Bakugou they work on setting him up fully and building him as a character. Most tsundere characters are downright horrible people who merely get a free pass because they are cute.

It's cut from the same cloth. Code:Breaker in particular has the same sort of quirky gimmicky cast that is directly lampooned by main girl here. It's also clear that they're gonna get "powers" based on this whole pain stuff, the same way other works of this kind draw on a single simple concept to create their power systems so that characters can actually have fights (ghouls, yokai, shintoist deities like in Noragami, "exorcists", whatever thingie gave them powers in Code:Breaker, you name it). The shady organizations/experiments, the one character who is a figure of authority and puts the plot to work, the pseudoscience angle to the setting, tons of exposition to establish all the relevant concepts at once - all of these are super common in these stories. I could call the structure of the whole episode just from the first flashback and the OP.

Why have an impenetrable fortress if you're not going to check the one thing that comes in and out? Like even a voice check or visual signal. With the way stuff happens without reason it's sort of just like...wow...nobody has a brain. Not the characters in the show. Not the people making this.
Maybe not the people who wind up watching all of this.
There's a strong artistic eye that occasionally shows itself here, but it's lost when basic direction beats feel totally off. If we want to follow the questioning of "why?"...why draw some sick backgrounds if you're not going to properly establish scale? The tone of the main character just had an insulting naivety that soaked the show through with a sickly brand of cynicism and self-righteousness that can only possibly resonate in the mindspace of a misanthropic adolescent.

kiznaiver - don't understand why people are going all "Okada" at this when it's completely generic, derivative modern high school shonen. If you didn't know beforehand it would be impossible to tell that this was written by Okada, let alone conceived as an animation and not some standard Miracle Jump pap or whatever. Like there's barely an ounce of creativity to the setup and the beats.

Episode got carried by the production, so I hope Trigger can keep it up this time.

Nah I guessed before looking up the full staff listing after watching the first episode. Some very Okada dialogue and concepts in there.

Okada checklist is basically:
1) Incest
2) Tragedy
3) Melodrama
4) PLOT

Of which only #4 (and barely) appears in Kiznaiver so far.

Mind, this can go wherever it may in subsequent episodes, but I have a feeling it will follow the tried and true path. Okada will show herself in the details.

Hundred aka the poor mans Infinite Stratos.
The MC isn't as poopy as IS MC but all the harem members are pretty lame except for Emile.

I wish we had Devil is a part timer 2. :/

Also everytime they pronounce foreign words in Japanese I can't help but imagine Ellen Baker and her English class.

Macross Delta 2 - chugging along as per the macross script. Though I'm kind of a bit confused given its 8 years after frontier where folks were all on colony ships. This seems like its magnatudes further away with people all on planets with a range of planet based races of different humans.

Someone made an anime out of a book that was mean to teach management techniques, so I have to imagine a "let's learn English" anime with her would be easy money.

I'm sure she'll reveal herself soon enough. :p
Even in Hanairo she couldn't hold it in.

Did you buy them or was it a fan translation? I wanna see what happens after season 1

yen press/ yen on licensed them
I just got book 4 of the devil is a part timer in the mail today.
book 5 will be out in august.

be careful when buying it though as devil has released in both manga and novel form, so make sure you are buying the one you want.

if you order from amazon just check the publisher.
Yen on is the light novel company
yen press is the manga company.

there are 14 or 15 books to the series, with more to come as it is an ongoing series.
from this it seems that the anime covered books 1 and 2.

I am not sure how much was covered though as it's two series down on my read list (gonna catch up with SAO, then irregular at magic high, and then devil is a part timer to pass time until oct where book 5 of no game no life comes out (which is the second book after the anime ended)

keep in mind this is nearly 50+ years since the original macross in universe and 8 years after frontier. and while frontier didn't go into much detail about it, humanity has been sending out colony fleets at a rate of 1 to 2 per year since the mega road 1 launched so its not surprising that there is more un affiliated colony planets out there. Secondly delta takes place in a different part of the galaxy than frontier did (frontier was closer to the galactic core, while delta seems like its in the outer rim). As for the new races being human-like, that again isn't unprecedented, protoculture is supposed to look pretty much like us, and from what we've seen all the races they engineered were in there image(humans, zentradi, zolan etc).

Now they are the tomato in the mirror.

I wish you didn't post this. not because it is a bad joke, but because i originally read the original post as they went into tornado farming, which was far more awesome, but I got confused when you didn't just say "now they are just dust in the wind."

>.<:

Now that I think about it, do we have any examples of really poor English acknowledged in anime? I can think of Ritsu in the K-On! movie . . . but I dunno. Seems like most anime just has us believe that the Kinmoza girls and like speak flawless English.

It did, but it's hard to not be at least a bit disappointed that we'll never see Kaiji take down Hyodo in animated form (hell, maybe not even manga form with Fukumoto's erratic project-shifting work ethic).

Yeah that's why I am afraid of them bringing it back. He is never going to finish the manga in a timely fashion, and I am wondering if they will be able to do another satisfactory conclusion to the story.

most anime still doesn't even deal with realistic language barriers. all foreigners either speak perfect japanese or don't speak japanese at all

The only stories I remember from ALT teachers are that kids try to stick their thumbs up people's butts.

Nice. Looks like a lot of stuff is finally arriving.
Yamato 2199 came super fast last week.

Not yet. I have the ones for Episodes 3+4 (Collection #2), 9+10 (Collection #5), 11+12 (Collection #6), and 13 (Collection #7).

In terms of instrument porn, 13 (Collection #7) is by far the most impressive.

If by any completely random chance you see Collections #1, #3, or #4, just mail 'em my way and i'll give money!
