i don't understand love lab at all, i coasted through 5 episodes and just hit this wall at episode 6. I just can't watch this, I don't know why. It's well made and I like the characters and stuff but there's something that just completely fails to capture my interest that just occurs here

It's cut from the same cloth. Code:Breaker in particular has the same sort of quirky gimmicky cast that is directly lampooned by main girl here. It's also clear that they're gonna get "powers" based on this whole pain stuff, the same way other works of this kind draw on a single simple concept to create their power systems so that characters can actually have fights (ghouls, yokai, shintoist deities like in Noragami, "exorcists", whatever thingie gave them powers in Code:Breaker, you name it). The shady organizations/experiments, the one character who is a figure of authority and puts the plot to work, the pseudoscience angle to the setting, tons of exposition to establish all the relevant concepts at once - all of these are super common in these stories. I could call the structure of the whole episode just from the first flashback and the OP.

I mean, you may very well be right but at the moment, there is barely an inkling of any special powers given to them and no sight of any kind of enemies to fight with. (Unless they'll be pummeling those mascots) The fact that they haven't established either within the first episode, makes it possible that it will not turn out as generic as you think.

This show has a knack for taking various personal and interpersonal issues and making them the focus of the proceedings but without making the characters massive drama queens. Respect.

There is actually a surprising amount of fishing trivia in this. I knew going in that this was about 4 guys with fishing poles standing next to water but somehow I didn't actually expect the actual, proper, fish catching to play that much of a role. I've no clue about the subject so I dunno exactly how accurate it is or whether it's just skims the surface but to my ignorant self, it's pretty enlightening.

In terms of instrument porn, 13 (Collection #7) is by far the most impressive.

It’s really nice to have this show back and for it to return on a very good note. A few more questions were raised but I think it was a good start showing the internal struggle Shiba Raito had that took him to his current state of mind. Also Kikko is going to have to be a bit more cautious haha and still don’t trust Emi at all. And the new OP and ED are pretty great.

Brutal episode and the death count is huge. And the worst part is the fight seems so pointless and neither side will really gain anything from winning.

I'm in awe every time I see just how much they paid attention to the lighting and reflections for each of the instruments. It really is one-of-a-kind.

I'm a bit jealous; those keyframe collections look excellent.

book 5 will be out in august.

be careful when buying it though as devil has released in both manga and novel form, so make sure you are buying the one you want.

if you order from amazon just check the publisher.

there are 14 or 15 books to the series, with more to come as it is an ongoing series.
from this it seems that the anime covered books 1 and 2.

I am not sure how much was covered though as it's two series down on my read list (gonna catch up with SAO, then irregular at magic high, and then devil is a part timer to pass time until oct where book 5 of no game no life comes out (which is the second book after the anime ended)

They're pretty cheap too. I'll buy the first one and see how I like it, thanks for the info.
Edit: they don't release digitally until April 19 so I gotta wait :/

Tamako Market ep. 1-2

This show is friggen' weird stuff but has a fun whimsicle charm to it at the same time. It's definitely your standard SoL fare, but the talking bird and the pretty flower shop girl with the manly voice add a really weird aspect to the show. The characters are interesting so far, but let's see what happens.. That damn ED is catchy as hell, lol.
