Star Wars Outlaws runs "pretty poorly" on the Switch 2 [Update] GWG: "I was wrong"

Why not? Just stating a possible fact. I like to know about the product before buying it.
Let me give you a preview:
Digital foundry: "On the PC, it's all around a better experience than what you're getting on Switch 2." There won't be any big surprises.

1) The game looks perfectly serviceable from the footage. Kinda like what it could look on a PS4, which is… expected?
2) Always funny to see how games that were already completely forgotten suddenly become very important when a Switch (2) port comes out.

Black Myth Wukong, Indiana Jones, Forza Horizon 5, and many others all received attention when they were ported to other platforms. This isn't any different.

To your first point, the game doesn't look great, but it looks playable. Actually runs a bit smoother than I was expecting even if it is a bit blurry. The DF analysis should be interesting.

Are we going to have a thread for every time an unreleased port isn't running well during development?
If theres conspicuously not allowed to have any footage taken. And there's a trend, then yes. It's newsworthy, so I would suspect so. Not understanding the Nintendo apologist angle, and it's honestly frustrating. Do you own stock in Nintendo or something? I'm about as big a Nintendo fan as they come, but I see no problem calling em out with stuff like this. They should be held accountable by their customers. Same as Xbox or Sony. I don't see the problem or the issue with that. 🤷‍♂️

Handheld mode. The same impressive performance as docked.

Lets see how this compare with series s.
The ps5 footage is done in another daytime which isnt a greate compare imo.

Nintendo isn't making this game, why should they be "held accountable".

Did you see the video above with the PS5 video side by side?

Wait, hold on, I think this YouTuber kinda buried the lede here, which is that if you manage to pick up a game key card early somehow you can apparently download and play the game before the release date.

That's wild. I just assumed there would be some check in the eShop to prevent you from booting up a key card game that breaks street date.

Switch 2/Nintendo Haters will always use any and every chance to dismiss and undermine the viability of the system. Even judging the system on unreleased games and 2nd hand accounts of unreleased games (without any footage whatsoever).

That was mildly amusing.

Is this supposed to be a disaster or the worst looking game ever like the early reports said?

It looks bad. Dropping frames, cutting audio and that's the starting section of the game which is not as challenging. It also cost more than other versions. So you're paying more to play the worst version of the game. Standard for Nintendo of course.

Surprising, it seems to have gone smoothly for streaming because on steam deck it really struggles

Especially the bike

Seeing the footage of the Switch 2 vs PS5 version makes me appreciate the PS5/Xbox Series X versions a bit better now.

Even if they were bashed on the original release

This makes me wonder what version was at Pax west and was shown at Disney's Star Wars event. Both of those were rough.

Also good to see ray tracing not holding it back too hard, still want to see Nintendo themselves do something with it. You can tell the RT reflections are very low in quality but it's still doing it, now imaging Luigi's Mansion with RT.

Yeah, but while we can compare it with a steamdeck, its a generation behind. Its a bit below ps4. While switch 2 is a bit below series s (yet on multiple levels it can provide even better visuals though).

It make more sense to compare with series s.

It all boils down to expectation management.
I don't understand all the surprise and excitement. What did people expect? That a handheld that's slightly below the PS4 would suddenly magically deliver great performance on games that wouldn't even run well on a PS4 and even have performance issues on the PS5 in some cases?

Negativity typically gets more attention than positivity. Doesn't make it "fanboy nonsense" unless it is way off base. I'd say that's not the case here, but sure.....agree to disagree.
While I would agree the thread title in itself is fine. There are many comments that exist simply to bait. They simply do not want any rational technical discussion about any of this, and exist to stir things up. This happens on every single Nintendo Switch 2 related thread.

And like somebody posted on another thread... It must wind these haters up that the Switch consoles sell so well..

While I agree that a lot of people try to bait and stir things up, some of these people actually believe in their twisted opinion that no one in their right mind would play a game they don't like on a platform that is weaker than others.
They can't comprehend that there are people who only have one console and that they chose the weakest of them (maybe to play first party titles, but they even play third party titles on it to the dismay of these 'haters').
It you challenge them, you are a fanboy or you are defending something or somebody, or you are a shill. They come into every switch 2 threads that has a negative connotation to spew their bullshit and when there is positivity around a game or the console itself it's back to the 'you are all shills and fanboys, you are defending incapable Devs and greedy corporations lol' all while possibly wearing Nike and eating at McDonalds, texting through their iPhone... I end my rant here because it's getting nonsensical, but you get my point.
They will eventually eat themselves, they cannot overcome their hatred.

No i read everything, but i wrote my statement in response to the other users and not the video.
Nice that you automatically asume the worst. :messenger_kissing_smiling:
Funny enough, the worst was saying what you said after reading the thread, I just assumed you didn't and could have a redemption arc by reading it

I have said this for years, some core hobby gamers can't see past their own personal likes/dislikes. They feel everybody buys things for the reasons they do. Of course this is proved incorrect time after time.

It's not slightly below, come on now. It's practically a ps4 with modern graphic features.
