Star Wars Outlaws Wants to Be Your Dream "Open Galaxy" - IGN First

Just tells me this game should have ben on unreal engine 5 . These company based engines just don't cut it. The only smart company to move was cdred. They even outlined it this week why they did it. But the other companies don't care and care about profits more then quality of their product
avatar looks way better than anything unreal engine has

Except that was acceptable for a kids movie in 1983

This is a grown gelfling backhanding a fucking soldier in the helmet and they go down like a sack of wet mice

Sad shit all around
& this isn't a 'for kids' game? aka a family game, like the ratchet & clank games? why would you think this? because that sure is what it looks like to me - the adventures of hans solo's scrappy kid sister...

Hey man if you think it looks super solid and you wanna day one the fuck out of it, rock on 🤷‍♂️

Still hoping that the PC version will be closer to what Avatar max settings provided which was no slouch once we saw it.

Still won't fix janky animations and derp women KO'ing a storm trooper with an helmet though..

It's the same problem as that recent shitty Avatar game, visually these games don't look anything remotely close to the source material.

Uhhh…? If anything, the ONLY thing Avatar Frontiers of Pandora absolutely nailed was the feeling of being on Pandora. Especially the first area, Kinglor Forest, which could have been straight up lifted from the first movie. It was everything else that felt like standard Ubisoft copy/paste.

That said, what we've seen of Outlaws definitely doesn't have the same level of world detail like Avatar did.

So this is from the first gameplay they showed. I still don't comprehend what kind of punching style this is. Is there really that much force in a backhand punch?
Well she's a small woman so there's no way she can choke him out. Totally unrealistic.

lol well....

This is a also a video game folks.

Its fake.

Its as unrealistic as any character in any action game having a whole ass armory in their pockets and knock people clean out with 3 punches and or 1 stealth punch from behind lol

Shitttt that is literally like the films, thats like asking how James Bond is knocking everyone out in 1 blow and be like "totally unrealistic" lol I mean, you didn't get that when he was killing 100 guards with 1 AK47 and reloading zero times or? lol Star Wars films have never really been made like these dramatic realistic type dramas or something, look at a film like Funny Games or Benny's Video....now look at Star Wars, James Bond or Kill Bill

Neither of those films are making any argument of realism, they are exaggerated to a degree where its understood from that start that what you are seeing is fantastical, whereas a film like Funny Games, the people kidnapping the family don't have any powers, they are not knocking out any of em in 1 blow, its because the director is expressing the realism of this world as its not some summer blockbuster film for lolz.

So I don't see anything with the Star Wars IP that ever entertained this idea of realism, like it taking some long time to kill someone, like Indian Jones, James Bond, etc, it is a world that is fantastical and the hero knocks out the bad guy guard in 1 blow. If we can understand that, we can understand why the game is mimicking that core concept and stop acting as if there was any expectation of "realism".

This trope is so old its not even funny, not just in games, but in film too.

No, the backhand knockout of the trooper just looks visually absurd. It completely stands out as dumb regardless of this being a "just a vidjagame". They should have just given her a taser or some shit for stealth takedowns, immediately makes 100% more sense.

Some sort of taser or shock gun would totally make sense. And they exist in the universe so it's not like they'd be pulling it out of their ass.

Hell even using that shock club or whatever it was from Force Awakems would work, except create a smaller more intense compact version.

Don't think it's thread worthy but there's some new gameplay:

It doesn't inspire confidence imo.

Really looking like a full featured The Division mod the more I see of it. The way things slide around, the non reaction of anything to your shots. The dialog is beyond the pale. I don't understand paying $70 to be subjected to 20+ hours of that. From the main character no less. This is gonna bomba. Reviews are gonna be middling and the janky Division-icities will make it a gif lolcow.

Especially since stormtroopers will probably be laser pistol sponges, that's videogamey, but a direct backhand knockout looks absurd, 100% agree.

But the I'm afraid it would look like this

Again the poor argument "this is just fantasy". No, in fantasy the laws of physics still apply. Unless she has superpowers, knocking out a stormtrooper like that is just dumb, it's a lazy ass detail that tells you how much care devs have put in the game.

I haven't seen much of Spider-man 2 but I'm baffled they brought back the MJ segments

Exactly. Even in fiction the world has to be generally believable, otherwise the fantasy falls apart. One can only suspend disbelief so much. If this had been a Jedi like Cal Kestis, it would be consistent within the universe to believe it because one could argue he used force strength or some other force ability. But the entire hook of this game is that you're not a Jedi and that you're supposed to be some average person turned bounty hunter trying to live in a ruthless universe run by cartels and the Empire. Simply backhanding a Stormtrooper to knock him out by such a person shatters the believably of the fantasy.

but fantasies still have this trope bud, this exact idea exist in Star Wars the Bond films etc.

So..knocking anyone out with 1 blow is highly unrealistic, but action films, fantasy etc does this all the time bud.

Nothing to do with "lazy" or anything like this as the whole 1 hit stealth shit is in so many games it not even funny

I watched about 30 seconds of the uncharted video before I saw her do a takedown animation by putting her arm around the guys neck to seemingly snap it or hold him in place for a blow and that's all the time I had before moving on to GTA. Most of the animations involve using a knife or a club. Sure the first one is bare-fisted but being a buff guy in a suit knocking down a dude in a hoodie hits a bit differently than a chick swatting a helmet with her bare hand doesn't it lol

so, how exactly do ewok wooden arrows kill storm troopers then?...

not really, all the characters can do this bud. Skinny, buff, etc. GTA V doesn't have anything where how the character looks effects anything like that lol fuck are you talking about?

Thats even funnier, sir...that is even more fucking exaggerated then 1 punch behind the head.

Yes, you saw here in seconds snap a series of people's necks lol They do this so much in Uncharted, you should file a petition to have them look into it as clearly this isn't realistic lol

The point being made here btw, you might be making it even better by even highlighting those even more wild unrealistic things going on.

I don't think any of us here is under some impression that anyone in real life is fucking doing this to 100 dudes perfectly without any issue, we understand its fake, its a video game, its highly exaggerated and what you are seeing isn't some simulation of anything, its merely a video game.

So this chick punching someone 1 time and them being knocked out isn't some never before done, wild, brand new fucking feature in a game man. It just sounds like you are doing your best to force some narrative about this game, but the issue is the trope is too fucking established in gaming to really act as if this is some rare, never before done thing in a video game.

Hitting someone crouched once and they get knocked out.....um....ok, is this your first time playing a video game? lol

I swear, what do I have to do to get a fucking Star Wars game where I can play a Sith Lord, just slicing and dicing fools and throw around lightning bolts like a power plant. Give me cool space ship sections with that and I am happy.

You could set that game during the Jedi purges. Let me hunt Jedi. Destroy the fucking republic.

Who gives a shit about some smuggler "the-power-of many" hoe that is being tryharded as some female Han Solo. It's like playing a Star Trek game as a Ferengi merchant. Sounds interesting on paper but who gives a shit, really. Let me play as Captain Picard and let me ram the Enterprise into a fucking Borg Cube, man.

You are trying too hard dude.
You trying too hard to pretend a 1 punch stealth kill is this new or rare thing.

Sir, this is a fake fucking video game lol

Hudo Hudo it might have to do with the licensing, I'm not sure if Disney allows it or what their exact rules are when they have these sort of deals. I recall with Battlefront 2015, they could only use like a certain timeline or something.

Ah, thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that Disney are being retards with their licensing (restrictions on timelines etc.). Makes sense... and makes me sad...

And it still look fucking ridicolous even for videogame standards, read the fucking room dude, everyone find this shit hilarious and posting uncharted takedown animations only make it worse, but please, continue to defend this shit, it's not like you are changing anyone's mind anyway.

Yea, I don't know how much freedom those teams have to really change things, like timeline or have this character do this or that. I know DICE was restricted on the timeline they could use.

It might even be why Fallen Order and this game have like random characters and not like a key specific person from the IP.

I wouldn't say that is that shocking either as that is what they did with Hogwarts Legacy as you don't play as Harry or any main character or something. I do hope they have some other Star Wars games where you play as em, but it sounds like it would need to be some game where it was literally about an older film or something.

Ok, but you can say that about any fucking game man, not everyone here is buying this fake "concern" regarding such a dated fucking trope.

Next thing you know you are going to tell me how "ridiculous" it looks that their inventory is like a whole army surplus or that we MUST be defending something cause we are not making a petitiong about the game having pause, you don't pause in real life broz omg

No one is buying this man, I sorry but this whole fake thing of trying act as if a person hitting another person once and knocking them out is not a hill to die on like someone will look into this for congress...

Even if I wasn't buying this fucking game I'd tell you this.

You don't need ot buy it, I'm not asking you to like it or buy it, I'm telling you the feature you are seeing is established, dated, proven trope and you've yet to even provide anything to suggest this is some rare new thing... This is a s fake as someone snapping hundreds of people's necks and as fake as someone having hundreds of weapons in some invisible back pack lol

Its almost as if this is fake, like it isn't real.

You're in a room on your own dude. People just don't care as much as you do. It's a video game, just let it go...

I wonder if that can be remade.

I don't know all the licensing stuff and the legal stuff regarding what it would take, but with Disney owning the IP, I wonder if they can contract a remake of those 2 games.

I don't ask for realism in fiction, but consistency. Bond, Jason Bourne or Indiana Jones are pretty much superheroes in disguise. However, Han Solo is just a cunning man, and we don't expect stunts from him.

This character is a smuggler, whose skills should be more akin Altair from AC. I'm sure there are plenty of gadgets and cool stuff she could do without resourcing to cheap takedowns.

In TLOU 2, that's why they made Abby a physical monster so we believe a woman like that can do those things. If the character of this game were like Gina Carano I might see it differently.

I'm too lazy for post history but I find myself wondering this gentleman's general attitude towards Star Wars, Disney, Ubisoft and this specific game.

It could explain some extent of defensiveness over this detail.

All this arguing over a bad animation lol, they're simply copying uncharted which had a similar dumb animation too. Don't expect too much from the ubifactory and you'll be fine, you've played this game a hundred times before since 2007.

You must have missed past topics when this shit was discovered or even this very one where i was just the last dude after many before me that pointed out how silly that gif looks, but ok :messenger_blowing_kiss:

No need for a wot dude, we are just trolling a particularly silly ass animation, i'm probably gonna try the game with ubisoft pass on pc (same for shadows) so this really doesn't move the needle for me.

But i'm still gonna laugh my ass off about it because it looks very dumb🕺

I think laziness is what it's been called and that's exactly what it is. We know it is a copy/paste job which highlights how bad the formula really is. Can't even be arsed to add a Pip-like device to her hand so it can make sense in-universe. This is a new level of low expectations.

well, this's a game, after all, based on a movie trilogy featuring ewoks killing storm troopers with wooden arrows, eh?...
yes that makes more sense than a female giving an open hand backslap to a guy with full armor in the head and knocking him out.

That's why I don't give a damn about studio names anymore, Div 2 was 5 years ago and we can't assume it's the same people.
Likely a lot of talent left. We keep seeing this happen over and over, big name studio with big previous releases bringing out new stuff that is backwards in design.

We'll see how it really is though, I can't say until I've played it myself.

Another thing about this, when I hear that a good studio is "staffing up" to make more games, like who are they bringing on? The building isn't made of magic.

I hate open world games, especially games like Star Wars, which I play for the story. It's simply too much running around and doing nothing.
