Also I think its a common theme in mythology for the hero to go into a cave or a tree or something like that and come face to face with some thing they fear and have to overcome.

yeah, Hercules traveling through Hades, Bilbo confronting the dragon in its cave... stage six or something of the mythic hero.

Here is something else interesting- the novelization of ROTS goes to great lengths to explain that Mace Windu is such an excellent fighter because his lightsaber form (which he created) channels the dark side.
This is why he is in fact able to defeat Palpatine and only stopped because Anakin intervenes.
It is an interesting contrast to Qui-Gonn.

Yeah, the visual dictionary says something similar about his Vaapad(sp?) lightsaber style.

So can he beat Yoda? And if he can, is THAT why he uses the dark side or whatever to fight, because he knows yoda cant do anything about it?

What the hell do you mean by channels?

He uses the darkside?

Or he's able to suppress it?

Mace's fighting style is as close as you can get to the Sith arts.

Something like that, I read it in a visual dictionary.

Wait, who's Darth Plaguis? Is that Grevious' sith name?

Edit: LEGO STAR WARS ROCKS, (ALTHOUGH AT TIMES IT IS BORING)!

Darth Plaguis was Palpatine's Sith Master. AFAIK General Grievous isn't a Sith.

There's also a book, can't remember the title, that features Mace Windu quite prominently and talks extensively about his Vapaad fighting style and the danger it brings to those who attempt it.
