Star Wars Rebels Season 3 |OT| Dark Forces Rising

Clone Wars clone commander from TCW. Probably the most famous one, even moreso than Rex. Rex got more screen time than Cody, but Cody was briefly in Revenge of the Sith, so he probably wins, I guess.

Anakin and Obi Wan were both generals in charge of a clone battalion. Rex was the top guy in Anakin's, Cody was the commander of Obi Wan's. When you see old pictures of Clone War stuff, the guys with blue accents and stripes are from Anakin/Rex's battalion (the 501st), Obi Wan/Cody's battalion (the 212th) had yellow stripes and accents.

I'm nitpicking here, but I don't think Commander is the right rank, as that's what the clones referred to the Padowans as.

Knights/Masters were Generals
Padowans were Commanders.

I'm pretty sure even Rex called Ezra Commander is a reflex during his PTSD last episode.

Gree served under Luminara

^^ They called him Commander Cody in the show and ROTS. Seems like retcon weirdness as I think Ahsoka is still his superior but they have the same rank.

Commander Cody is his title in all of his appearances both in shows/movies and other forms of media. Clone Marshal Commander to be exact. You're right that their ranking system is a tad wonky though.

If true, then this must be a recurring theme, as Vader (In Lords of the Sith) is a bit surprised when one of the Emperor's Royal Guards takes off his helmet to reveal he is an old Clone. He has tattoos on his face, and Vader has the passing thought that He probably would have called himself Inks.

I found the quote. It was actually Tarkin who notices it:

Tarkin page 94 said:
"Excuses won't suffice, Sergeant Crest," Vader cut him off. "Perhaps you are aging too quickly to remain on active duty."

Tarkin couldn't make sense of the remark until he realized Crest's was a face he had seen countless times during the war - the face of an original Kamino clone trooper. The bare-headed others comprising Vader's squad were human regulars who had enlisted after the war.

According to the timeline at the beginning of Lords of the Sith, both books take place before Rebels, which means it's likely Cody wouldn't be in a combat role. If he's still working for the Empire, perhaps he has a more administrative role?

Thanks, everyone. If I recall, Rex's rank was Captain, and Ahsoka was Commander. I guess since Obi-Wan's padawan was himself General, he could have a clone serve as Commander.

There were clone commanders in charge of the clone units but Padawans also held the rank of commander. It's kind of insulting if you think about it.

ehh it makes sense to me. When I was in the military we were taught that all civilians outrank us by default.

In the Revenge of the Sith Cody is the clone you see when Palpatine/Darth Sidious issues order 66. Cody complies without protest or struggle despite being Obi-Wan's favorite. Rex was able to circumvent following that order. So these 2 prolific clones who were once total fucking bros meeting again after falling into opposing paths in life would be super interesting to watch.

Yes I have, but I recall that even
the clone that prematurely executed the order was traumatized and had real conflict within himself.
Cody on the other hand... "Sure thing boss man. One order of Jedi murder coming right up. lol"

i gotta wonder though was it only Rex Gregor and Wolffe that knew exactly what was going on?

Finally recieved my copy of the Asoka novel, i'm about 2 3rds through. I'm liking the short storys included with the novel that are separate from the actual main story (though some do link back) I especially loved the one where the author E.K. went into detail about
Obi-Wans exile on Tattoine and the start of his training to become a force ghost. After reading those few pages i'd love to see her take on a full Obi-Wan novel.

Pretty good episode with some fun action. Better paced than the last few have been.

I can't tell if they are setting up Sabine's mom to be
Bo-Katan
or not. We know she is set to appear and it wouldn't be Star Wars if all of the major characters weren't related to one another. But the description Saxon offered - a woman who is loyal to the Empire - doesn't sound like the woman who said
"no outsider will ever rule Mandalore."

I doubt it. Sabine is pretty obviously supposed to be Asian and if her mom was
Bo-Katan
I think they'd have made the design more obvious.

Maybe Rook Kast though? Not use how Mandalorian naming conventions work. Probably just someone unknown.

I would watch a series on Mandalore alone. Such an interesting group of people. What the hell happened to the planet?

I hope Sabine fixes her jet pack and it becomes part of her arsenal.

Me too the mandalorian episodes in both Clone Wars and Rebels have been everything I thought the Prequels were going to be from the first time I saw the Empire Back concept art book.

Hoping we see some more Jedi centric episodes, these last couple have been rather boring. The season started off stronger than most of the show has been but it's been going back to it's season 1/2 crappiness.

I think the show suffers from needing more time to expand things. The commercial breaks really annoy me. It's like they go to commercial just when the viewer starts settling in.

If you're watching via PS Vue, the breaks are unbearable. They just show the Disney XD logo for a few minutes. I'd honestly rather they play commercials.

New episode aired tonight, but don't feel like you need to rush out to see it.

The main story was pretty pointless. There was a little bit more of Thrawn in there, and you can see he's definitely testing the waters of what reactions he gets from the Rebels with certain movements.

Everything else about the episode was pretty worthless, though.

Yeah first episode this season that I was a bit "eeeeeeh" on.

Hmm yeah this was a pretty crappy episode. My tolerance for dumb kids ends firmly at Ezra and Sabine so to say I wasn't interested in Iron Squadron would be an understatement. Kinda funny that some expected to see Dash Rendar but it was cool to see an Outrider like ship anyway.

I'll echo the need for more Jedi centric episodes.

This episode kind of sums up the problems with this season for me. For a show that's three seasons in, it's rare for the show to feel cohesive. I can't really say there's anything this episode did well. It feels like a collection of ideas that never form a whole. Take Mart for example. He doesn't really bring out anything we haven't seen before in Ezra. We don't learn more about Sato really. The ultimate fight to save Mart goes stupidly well. The fact that Mart hasn't been killed already makes the Empire seems comically inefficient, and not in a humorous way. We don't learn anything about Konstantine, who you would think would be on the chopping block already. Thrawn shows up to sneer at the rebels at the end, but we're left clueless about his endgame, making his presence seem empty.

It's just a dull boring episode that doesn't really forward the plot in a series that seems really hesitant to forward the plot.

Did anyone else read the Ahsoka book? I felt it was pretty meh and expected a much better story of what happened to her.

Also,
it kind of makes Bail look like a dick since he never told Ahsoka that Obi Wan was alive.

This is probably the only thing we actually did take from this episode. That Sato is willing to sacrifice the Rebellion for his immediate family. This was a terrible move for a commander/strategist, and Thrawn obviously learned from it.
