Do the spoiler folk legit know everything? Or do they know most of it?

I only ask because the stuff about whether main characters are related or what Luke actually does has evaded me completely, its all speculation. Even podcasters who claimed to know alot of spoilers didnt seem to know the answers to those questions.

Feel sorry for all of you who don't have reserved seating at your theaters!

Really frees me of any stress. I can just walk in 5 minutes before the trailers and be good and in a perfect seat (middle of the row, near the middle of the theater). This is for an IMAX 3D showing btw! Can't wait.

Meh, I wait outside the theater like a dork for hours, reserved seating or otherwise. I love shootin' the shit with the other local diehards.

For RotS we got a pizza delivered to our line, played Star Wars trivia, etc.

Seems like pretty much everything is out there, except for dialogue.

I haven't read the compiled synopsis but I think the finer details are still up in the air. The order of events seems to be set in stone though.

Finally thinking about watching some older stuff to get ready for TFA.

If there was one single few-episode arc from The Clone Wars that you were allowed to include in a Star Wars movie watch party, which would you choose? Anakin-centric preferably but that's a guideline, not a rule.

Hmm

I only ask because I refuse to believe someone wouldnt have leaked it en mass and it be public knowledge, these are two HUGE things in the film, what Luke does, who is related to who (if any).

Theres stuff ive learned about this film that I wish I didnt that is of much much lesser degree than those two questions, just by browsing reddit randomly.

I'd go with the last few episodes of season 5 and all of season six.

The Mortis arc, maybe? It's entertaining, and heavily Annie-centric, but also occupies an extremely divisive place within the fandom. That, or the Zillo Beast episodes, if you're looking for some dumb fun.

Which is why I am going full blackout from Twitch/Reddit from 14th-17th

Never had social media so dont care about the stuff

Twitch chat has ruined so much, its a silent killer.

Yeah, you've gotta be so careful about where you look. Best to just not, starting on Monday.. I say.

I know Luke's role in the film was leaked. Not sure about who's related to who.

Thinking of putting up an OT for a rewatch starting tomorrow

Ep 1 11th
Ep 2 12th
Ep 3 13th
Ep 4 14th
Ep 5 15th
Ep 6 16th

Right before Opening day, watch one a day, discuss it, move on the next day

Good man. dissolve the hype then build it up right before release, I can get behind that.

We're flying out to Japan on the 17th. My wife will be running around like a headless chicken doing last minute packing. The kids will be in school until lunchtime (it's a late afternoon flight). How inappropriate would it be for me to sneak out and catch a morning showing? Otherwise I'd either have to watch in Japan with subtitles (could be annoying if there is any alien dialog and it misses English subs for those parts), or wait until January 9/10

can we not even talk about what things/people/subjects have been leaked? That can easily and accidentally get into spoiler territory if you start filling in the gaps.

Currently watching the films for the first time. Episode 1 really is as bad as people made it out to be. This definitely isn't a good introduction to the Star Wars universe for me.

I guess the good news is that it apparently gets better

I have to wait until Sat the 19th to see it! Funny thing is my wife is going to see it with a friend of ours at 1am on the 18th! Geeky girl's night out!

Your mistake was starting with Episode I.

You're not actually supposed to pretend like that's the first movie. Watch them in the order they came out.

I strongly suggest watching in release order (4-6, then 1-3). But I really recommend watching 1-3 AFTER seeing the new SW movie so your hype isn't killed.

Russell Crowe ✔@russellcrowe
Just saw 9 mins of the new J.J. Abrams Star Wars ---not supposed to say anything...signed a non disclosure form...between us ---Spectacular

:D

So excited. 6 days, 4 hours, 37 mins to go here.

Feel sorry for all those who succumbed to the dark side/the spoiler thread who are going in knowing all the details. They won't get the same amazing experience we're going to have.

May the force be with you all.

OP needs this

Roll on Sat 19th, hope I don't get a spoiler before then.

Gonna go watch it on the 20th. Don't really care about rushing to the opening.

It gets even worse before it gets better.

Does watching from 1-6 for the first time make the originals look better or worse? I wondered about that, I would only consider showing people 4-6 then 1-3 not 1-6 in a row.

First time in release order only. Any weird messed up orders are only for people rewatching.

The prequels are prequels and are therefore written with the expectation that viewers will have seen the earlier movies - even though the actions take place before them.

I would always always suggest 4-6, 1-3 as the first time viewing. Doing 1-6 for the first time ruins so many great reveals in the originals. The prequels are written with the assumption that the audience is familiar with the originals.

But, watching 1-6 is fine for rewatches, that's what I've been doing in the lead up to TFA.

Machete Order is always, always, the worst.

For first timers it's great. After the big reveal in Empire they can go see the shitty back story of Vader, then finish with Return of the Jedi.

It completely and utterly breaks the momentum built from ANH and ESB. I would really, really recommend against doing this for your first time. Watch in release order, as intended, or you will most likely not have as good of an experience with the best movies in the saga, the OT.

oh man

a week from today I will be watching Star Wars Episode VII

after the prequels I vowed to never get too excited for a new movie, but this is proving to be very difficult.

I'll be attending the marathon event next Thursday, starting with A New Hope. This will be the first time I'll be watching the original trilogy on the big screen, and honestly I think I'm more excited to experience that than the new movie

hopefully it's good, but deep down, I know it's not going to reach my unrealistic expectations.

There is no other way to watch star wars besides release order. 456123. Going into 789 you only really need to watch 456.

One of my big curiosities about EP 7 is how much it stands as a solo film

In my mind they cannot make it too dense for someone who is entering the franchise for the first time, it cant be all call backs and "Oh to understand this you needed to watch x,y,z"

JJ said something recently about how the originals implied but very rarely told you anything, you filled in the blanks for yourself instead of having loads of exposition (He cited "Clone wars" "Dark Times" etc as things that were off the cuff mentioned, never expanded). I was hoping to get a decent chunk of backstory from this film but I actually think it will be skimmed over, hints but the meat will be left to EU.

I think watching 1-6 gives first time viewers a very odd introduction to Star Wars. It will take them hours before they get to the movies that really took hold of our culture in a big way. By then they will have formed an idea in their heads abut what Star Wars is, and I don't think it will be altogether favourable.

And it certainly does lessen the impact the OT once had in introducing the universe, the Force, the Jedi, etc. And it ruins multiple classic plot reveals.

Having seen the prequels recently for the first time since they came out, any newcomer who starts with episode 1 might get off the train after episode 1.

always release order.

I just did a Episodes 1,2, all 6 seasons of Clone Wars, 3, caught up with Star Wars Rebels, 4, 5, 6 rewatch and I still think RotS (3) is one of my favorites. Watching Anakin turn into one of the most iconic and tragic characters in all of cinema a real delight.
