Betacake blog has been deleted? wtf :(

wauw, I wonder if they will hunt them down.

Has anyone ever gone to jail for breaking a NDA? I'm sure some have for things outside gaming. Remember the guy who lost an Iphone prototype and comitted suicide due to his coming scolding?

But breaking game NDA? Some of betacakes videos had visible character names, meaning they could hunt down the owner of the character.

My brother broke the Warhammer Online NDA. I haven't seen him in years. Prison is tough.

I don't have a brother

i knew once they had posted an entire flashpoint in HD it was only a matter of time until Bioware hunted them down, too bad. How are we supposed to get our SWTOR fix now?!

Karen Traviss' Republic Commando books (now officially non-canon due to events in the CG Clone Wars show).

This is incorrect, Lucasbooks has done a bunch of background retconning to make it all fit with the CW TV series. Traviss was not happy with having to step around the CW with her work, and she was very upset because of heavy restrictions being put on her and the Boba Fett book she was working on, since Fett was a major character in the Live Action show that was being written at the time. So she got fed up and left SW books behind

MattKeil said:
They don't feel much like Star Wars, the prequels demolished the clone backstory set up in them

This also is untrue, they are completely different types of clones, the books even specifically talk about the cloning process and what it's named. Cloning in the prequels is different style of cloning and not the quick flash clones created by Spaarti cylinder method.

Traviss walked away from it because it conflicted with her stuff, that's good enough for me. I really could not possibly care less what non-film/TV EU stuff is doing to pretend they're canon these days.

Cloning in the prequels is what cloning is in the Star Wars universe. Cloning in the Zahn novels is a wild guess at what cloning is in the Star Wars universe that Lucas chose to contradict and the EU has desperately worked around with retcons and "oh what we meant was" over the last ten years. They should just let it go.

The books, comics, games, etc, etc, are never canon, only the movies are. To LFL it all falls into continuity with each other, but strictly speaking canon is relegated to the movies. Even the Clone Wars TV series is considered a separate canon category from the movies internally by LFL and it's own canon classification system.

Except they haven't, they clearly state what the cloning process used in the Thrawn books, and no one has had to do anything to change it. They are completely different types of clones. There is nothing to let go.... There was no retcon to change anything. It's a giant universe, and unless one thing contradicts something else outright, then no one cares.

They have to approve the project, sometimes say like with KOTOR they have more of their fingers in it. I still blame them for letting it air.

It's big in japan though, for some reason.

Lucasarts is the division that handles video games. Lucasfilm Ltd. is who is behind the Clone Wars

The cartoon was awesome but also horribly ridiculous. Mace Windu taking out an entire army unarmed? FUCK YEAH

He's second in command of the Jedi Order. If he couldn't take down an army of those shitty ass robots then he sucks the big one.

gamestar.de has some new stuff on pvp & operations. interesting. translated by official forum folks.

"Each Raid has 2 sizes, for 8 and 16 heroes, as well as adjustable [sic] difficulty levels. The quality of the loot is based on the difficulty setting of the instance. "After every boss fight EACH player gets a bag of Rewards", says Lead designer Gabe Amatangelo. "Inside that Bag you can find class specific Items, or Badges which can be used to buy items. You don't have to fight for your rewards."

There will be no companion characters in PvP fights, at least not in the Warzones, where teams of both factions battle each other. The game modes in pvp will be along the lines of classical pvp variants such as capturing and holding control points and Capture the flag. Thus far we have seen four and eight player warzones. Although there are tests for mass pvp fights going on Georg Zoeller didn't comment on mass pvp fights at that moment.

Furthermore BioWare is working on a warzone where players from the same faction can fight faction each other, but only as a backup solution in case the enemy can't provide enough players. There will also be open world pvp fights in which each faction can pursue missions objectives. Several planets will offer special pvp assignments, which could be something like capturing enemy buildings or eliminating enemy leaders. According to Zoeller this ensures that pvp oriented players can focus on certain areas and it gives them a bit more structure. The question concerning armed combat vehicles, Georg Zoeller answers with a promising maybe... So, chances are the players might be able to ride into combat in vehicles, maybe not in open world pvp but in Warzones. Apart from this, players will be able to fight against other players during some of their regular quests, similar to Warhammer Online, where some quests lead intro enemy territory making an pvp encounter more likely.

Like the sound of PVP so far (I'm going to hold out till the end of time for 'Mass PVP'). Loot Rewards sounds decent too, should limit the grind, though makes me wonder how they'll keep people engaged towards the end of the game (if loot sounds as obtainable as suggested).

I doubt that all 16 people would have a shot at a big item. My guess is one or 2 dudes will get something awesome (or no one will), and everyone else will get badges, to go towards vendor stuff.

I can't believe I am asking this...

Is Clone Wars series worth watching?

I heard that this series goes from awful to pretty damn decent.

I just wish Lucas Arts would make a HD remake of Republic Commando (never played it) and the KOTOR games.

HD KOTOR with SWTOR graphics art style? COULD BE EPIC!

There are far worse ways a Star Wars fan can spend his time than watching Clone Wars. The episodes are hit or miss, but when they hit, it's pure awesome.

Ya I don't mind them. But that girl they pimp out. She need to die. Anakin should do it.

Would go from a C show to a B+ just by murdering her.

The Twi'lek girl? Agreed. I've only seen one episode and she was super annoying.

The loot bags sound like what mythic did in warhammer so most likely the same here where the bags have different levels of loot depending on your performance.

I've quite enjoyed the Clone Wars CG show. And I never thought anything watchable/playable would come out of prequel material. I'd highly suggest checking out the episode "Landing at Point Rain" if nothing else. And the girl, Ahsoka, has improved tremendously since the early episodes.

Start watching from season 3.5(Nightsisters onwards). Very good episodes, they bring the force back to its more mystical roots. Although there is one stupid bit they decided to use from the EU.

TCW causes retcons and is inconsistent with some things. Hyperspace jump from atmosphere? Fuck you Lucas.
And Ashoka Tano... I like Jar Jar Binks, Gungas and Ewoks more. She's strong is the Force, good lightsaber fighter and skilled in hand to hand combat, very good pilot and a war strategist. While being 14 year old or so (and Lucas claiming she's 11). And probably beatiful to some people. Fucking mary sue character in my opinion.

Oh and the series looks horrible. TOR admittely ressembles it a bit but the difference beetween the two is that TOR actually looks good.

Togruta, assuming you're talking about Ahsoka /nerd

Yeah the clone wars has its share of crap, but there's plenty of damn good stuff in there too.

Point of interest to anyone unsure of the books - try the audiobooks. All available on audible.com or audible.co.uk.

The music, sound effects and Marc Thompson/Jonathan Davies narration automatically make them a lot more entertaining.

Mech Darth Maul

That's not EU. That's Infinities. It's the same as DC's Elseworlds or Marvel's "What If?"

Looks good, although the teamplay confused me a bit. It seems like people are switching roles sometimes. I also didn't see any healing going on, or did I miss that?

The people were lvl 9, healing skills come with the AC's at 10.
