Looks good, although the teamplay confused me a bit. It seems like people are switching roles sometimes. I also didn't see any healing going on, or did I miss that?

There are no real roles yet pre Advanced Class (at level 10).

edit: basically, Esseles & Black Talon are to get us acquainted to flashpoints, group play & group conversations in general. Since no one can heal, or really tank, or really do anything that would constitute a "role", everyone just does their best :p.

Is Clone Wars series worth watching?

I heard that this series goes from awful to pretty damn decent.

It has it's ups and downs. The first season was very uneven, the 2nd season was quite good overall, and the 3rd season had a crappy first half, and a fantastic 2nd half of a season. Lucas is a producer on the show so you got lot of different people writing for it and others directing the episodes. You get some real good episodes, then you get stuff that feels like a bad kiddie show. Some of the best eps ironically have been the ones written by Katie Lucas, George's daughter.

Start watching from season 3.5(Nightsisters onwards). Very good episodes, they bring the force back to its more mystical roots. Although there is one stupid bit they decided to use from the EU.
Mech Darth Maul

They haven't revealed exactly what that plot line is going to reveal, but you are also talking about something that is from a what if story.

Actually the CW has taken lot of content from the EU, pretty much every episode in the last two seasons has EU elements involved and the production notes on the official site often talks about the stuff borrowed. We are already seeing more EU stuff in the CW with the season 4 previews like the Z-95 Headhunter making appearances

Just got my third beta invite. I will be testing this much better than the previous 2 times. It should be much closer to the finished product.

I'm not going to play my class though I'm playing at launch. Thinking trooper for the hell of it. Haha I'm spoiled huh?

Love how the Consular uses a disabling spell on an enemy and someone immediately breaks it. Just like real how it'll work when you're playing. Also nice to see the Smuggler in action. I wish it was Scrapper footage but it'll have to do. The Knight's melee combot looks really nice.

can someone explain the whole early access 'time frame' thing? I saw it earlier in the thread, but is it true I need to redeem a pre-order code by the end of this month for an entire week of early access, otherwise it's like 5 days?

Early access is anywhere from a few days to "weeks". We don't know how long it is. The sooner you enter your pre-order key the more time you get to spend in early access.

"After every boss fight EACH player gets a bag of Rewards", says Lead designer Gabe Amatangelo. "Inside that Bag you can find class specific Items, or Badges which can be used to buy items. You don't have to fight for your rewards."

Am I the only one who DOESN'T like this? Before this badge nonsense in WoW people with Ashkandis and other rare weapons got them by a mixture of luck, DKP, and hard work and they were sort of held a bit higher than other people, if that makes sense. Now it's all about the badges. I hate this system. It becomes more of a grind to raid instead of a "omgomgomg what's going to drop I'm so excited!" feeling.

Bleh.

They haven't released the specifics, but the idea is that the longer you wait, the shorter your early access will be.

But it's not. Every boss you know you'll get badges and/or you'll get a piece of loot for you. That loot must not be very good because if you get a piece of loot or badges after every boss then you'll be geared out in a few weeks.

There's no surprise. No suspense. It's a grind.

Frankly fuck the old system of luck. Also it often had nothing to do with luck, skill, or anything, guilds would determine who gets what and shit like that. Newer members often got shafted with no real reward. And if something drops you can use and want, it doesn't matter because theres going to be a bunch of others who will want it too, and raid leaders will tend to support seniority first off.

Why the heck would I want to do multiple raids and invest hours of my time and get nothing out of it?

The badge systems and reward bag system if similar to Warhammer for example rewarded players based upon their actual contribution to the boss fights, and no matter what everyone got something for their time and trouble.

Einbroch said:

Whose to say theres no surprise? The reward bags do not just give badges, there is element of luck as well involved in them.

Also what suspense in normal old school style loot drops? A loot table always exists and theres a specific set of items that might drop. And it's just as much of a grind as a badge system, as to get the items you want in the old school way requires generally a person to play through the content a bunch of times as well

Too each his own, I guess. To me it seems better than redoing a raid 100 times *hoping* you get the drop you need.

To those saying you never get anything: this game has an 8 person raid. Say there are five bosses. A low average.

You have a 25% chance that something will drop for your role (ranged DPS, melee DPS, tank, healer). If you have someone else with your same role in your party, you have a 50% chance to win. 12.5% chance every boss to get something. Bosses would ikely drop two pieces of loot for a 8 man raid. Back to 25%.

25% chance...five times. You're likely to get something. And I'm being conservative. That's with another person being your same class, another person needing that item, and the raid only has five bosses.

I prefer suspense and excitement over getting the same badges over and over.

The best moment I've ever had in WoW was when Ashkandi dropped. My guild, consisting of a few friends and others, were freaking out. Everyone was like "OH MY GOD NO WAY" over vent and it was hilarious. Eventually my friend got it and he was super excited. That's exciting.

You're kidding, right? Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to kill end bosses for 7 months and NEVER see the one drop you want (fuck you, Nef and your Ashkandi!)? Loot based on some BS RNG loot table is dumb. A system like this evens the playing field for everyone.

I am sure there will be some type of system in place for the elite to distinguish themselves from the casuals, like heroic tokens.

40-man, absolutely. That was some grade-A crap. But 8 man? 16 man? The chance you'll never win your item after even a month is highly unlikely, especially if it's what you really want.

I should also clarify that in WoW the token items are as good, if not BETTER than the items that actually drop in raids. That's backwards. I don't mind a token system if the items actually dropped from specific bosses are a fair amount better than their badge counterparts.

I think that's a compromise I would be very content with.

I just remember getting dicked over when loot dropped. No, an "officer" of the guild needs it, so he gets. No, that guy helped out in something so he gets it. Like when the fuck do I get it? Oh, finally I get to roll. And I roll a 17. Awesome.

I don't see the fun in doing the same dungeon for a month for the chance of getting the item you need only to see it go to someone else for no reason and having to do the dungeon over and over again until that item drops and you're next on the seniority list. There's still the lootbag that's random. Rare drops will still be rare drops. The difference is that if the item drops for you, you get it.

Not that it matters because I'm a guild officer lololol

But even running the same instance for month sucks. Maybe some people are into that, but if I don't get what I want in 2-3 runs I am sick of it.

I don't mind rare items with low drop rates, but if you need those items to move on to more content then I have an issue. Rare mounts or special items are fine with me, since you don't need those to compete in PVP or access more PVE content.

The token system fixed some of this, but it is still about grinding instances you have already played before to get enough to buy the gear.

Giving everyone loot may seem too noob friendly, but IMO it is just time friendly and not all of us have time to raid every night, or even multiple times a week. I would rather dungeons be more difficult, but everyone gets their drops once they complete it.

I am also all for legendary items that are 1 per server, I think that adds a level of depth to the game, but 1 per server items should be able to be looted from dead bodies IMO.

What about badge items that are good enough to advance content, but rare drops from bosses that are stronger, look cooler, or have some cool effects? Example:

A saber from the badges does 100 DPS and a chance to place a DoT that does 20 DPS for 10 seconds.

A saber from the boss that does 105 DPS, has the same DoT, and has a cooler model.

I'd be fine with that and that sounds pretty good actually. I just hate it when people get the badge items and then the boss item drops and it's equal or a downgrade to the badge item.

You're right Ein. Token items should always be on par with what's currently available in the raid, and depending on the cost, should be slightly better. If the badge system allows for 20 badges per week and my item costs 200 badges, it should be better than something I can get randomly off a boss in just one day.

I'm sure whatever system they put in place will be equal and fair to all players, which is how loot distribution should be. End-game content is important for a lot of the player base and I'm sure they wouldn't want to alienate players with a shitty loot system.

That sounds fine to me. I don't want to be weeks or months behind in content because I can't play all the time. I don't care if Smuggler Dan does 10 more DPS than me as long as I can still compete.

That's what I want, too. But I want to give a reason to kill a specific boss. If no one cares about the specific boss items, then you might as well be killing Random Boss A That Gives 40 Badges.

People shouldn't be punished for being unlucky, but rewarded for being persistent and a bit lucky.

Yeah that would be fine. I don't mind rewarding players who put in time, as long as players who can't dedicate that time can still see content and compete.

Yeah, being full DPS/Heal/Tank at the same time is ridic. Especially since they only have one ability.

WIN
(Instant Cast)
Deal infinite damage and heal everyone from your faction for 600% of their total health. Buff immunity for 60 mins. No cool down.

Them porting over the "bag loot" system of Warhammer to SWTOR is a great idea. After raiding in WoW for over 6 years, now I don't have to worry about running a DKP or SKG system! If anything, this will give even more incentive for people to do their best during raiding because the reward goes to everyone instead of 2 or 4 people.

You are making the assumption that loot doesn't actually drop and just badges which is highly unlikely. Seeing the reward bags they are talking about was a system used in Warhammer and many of those Mythic folk work on TOR, I would assume its the same. Badges/Tokens are not the only thing that drops, you do get cool loot and reward bags will randomly give you something epicly good. The whole point of badges is that everyone gets at least something for their effort, but the whole random loot chance is always still present

The system also greatly is designed to favor those who actually perform the best though still elements of luck

Is there a website that breaks down every class and their subclasses with how they play? I know the official site has it but it's not iPhone friendly and I can't get any information out of it. :/. Also what would be the closest class to a wow rogue or a daoc infiltrator? I just wanna sneak up and kill people :(
