Even if it did that's a tiny pittance of the overall game and isn't a valid rebuttal at all. There are many things that bioware is doing that are unique. Companions change the way you can play the game. The single player focus blows wow away and please wows story is just awful. Lvl 1-10 in tor had more story content than levels 1-80 in wow Imo. The way this game is like wow is in the slickness of the experience and in that department it isn't fully there yet but it is still a beta with a few months to go.

Well that's your opinion. Considering your avatar and your postings I don't think anything I or anyone else could say would sway your mind. Fanboys are fanboys I guess :/

It's pretty much all CPU with MMOs. i5 760 @4ghz and GTX 460 and I have a constant 60-100 fps at max settings.

Sounds good to me that. Can't wait to get access.

Thankfully my employer has a deal with EA which guarantees us access to the beta. Hopefully the code won't take too long to arrive.

Well, I assume this one actually has quad core support unlike any fucking Blizzard products. I don't get bothered over much but seeing SC2 and Diablo 3 coming out with dual core support only drives me nuts. It's 2011, they're PC only games, support more configurations!

I figured when WoW was only bumped to dual cores for it's supposed multi-processor support it was due to engine limitations not an irrational fear of the number four, it would be nice considering that WoW's engine is extremely inefficient nowadays with all of the random bloat they tacked onto it. People in my guild with utter powerhouses couldn't get that thing to maintain a solid framerate in a raid/daily hub.

Seven months after the Cataclysm launch we would still have chats on vent about the glitch that dropped your FPS into the single digits when you panned into certain smoke effects, fun times.

I have a phenom II x3 720 at 3.7ghz (from 2.8), 8gb ddr2, and an HD4890 and max settings gives me fps all over the place.

Sometimes my fps will be close to 100, cutscenes will be 35-45, char creation is about 60, main menu is about 20, gameplay will be about 25-35 :(

If I turn shadows off my fps skyrockets but it looks like dogshit

Running fine on my rig @1680x1050 windowed mode, mostly high settings. Running a PhenomII 955 and 6870, with 4GB of RAM. Also, I have the beta installed on the system SSD drive, if that matters.

I do find the texture pop-in on cut-scenes is a little annoying, but other than that (and the lack of AA available) I don't really have an issue with the performance. I'm actually impressed that I have yet to have the game crash in ~6 hours of game time.

You sure your system is clean and you have the latest drivers, etc? I was running on an x4 955 with only a 6870 and never really dipped below 30 and most times sit in the 40-60fps range depending who's around. Even on the son's PC (my old Core2 Duo at 2.8GHZ) with 3GB Ram and 4870 he's above 30 fps.

Yea, system is fine, running latest beta drivers, ill try to downgrade to latest official ones, but I very much doubt it will make a difference. Same thing happened in Rift, driver switching made no difference. System plays other games perfectly fine, unless they botched releases *looks at Rage*.

The problem seems to be very similar to one Rift had, npcs drop my fps a ton, players in the area doesn't seem to do it much. At least in Rifts case it was the shitty Gamebryo engine that was the issue.

First game in awhile to max out my gpu though. Jedi grass starting area it was pushing 90-99% gpu usage and my temps were around 75c. Oddly the only other game that pushes temps that high is Shogun 2 on the map screen of all places, or it did in the demo anyway.

On my ATi card I noticed that I get worse FPS (less GPU usage) and better FPS outside. I'm on the 11.10 preview 1 drivers, so it can definitely be an issue. Also, it might be an ATi thing, but I noticed that the shadows only seem to go from off to high. The slider doesn't give you a 'low' setting for the shadows.

Yea.. what processor are you using? AMD Phenom x3 945 3ghz 460 superclocked 1gb, 8gb memory, I'm not pleased with how it runs at all. What is "smooth" to you? Anything below 30 is a deal breaker, which I get anywhere near a lot of npcs, I'm talking 20fps here. Constant load stutters as well.
Core i7 bottom end oc'd to 3.5ghz. Game runs 30-60fps all the time. I never get lag or slow frames. Smooth as in smooth :) this is at 2560x1600 too.

I get zero load issues and split second texture pop in occasionally during cutscenes. Im running an x25-m ssd though.

I hate all of you with good enough PC's to run this game well.

I have to run it at a sub resolution with no shadows and no depth of field and crappy draw distance and medium textures...

Some day. Some day soon!

I don't want to say too much given the NDA and all, but I am very pleased with what I have tried so far and I am definitely keeping my preorder.

My only disappointment so far is there should be a lot more Race choices for your character instead of what the paltry 4/5?

and they are all pretty much various colored humans (like were are in the original star trek)

The game is much impoved over the last weekend beta..that said I pretty much quit playing after an hour on friday, Not so much a problem with the game but

Get 5 of x that respawns every 2 minutes
30 people hanging out at said spawn point

par for the course with a first day of anything so I would not blame TOR for it, just my lack of patience

That said, the strength of the game (cinematics) also works against it for me, outside of the class specific quests the rest are shared. I know the class I want to play so am content to wait until the early start as having to rewatch a lot of that shit is tedious (you can escape them but it still takes multple presses while you pick each dialogue choice)

So will be thrilled when this game begins to level up my sith inquisitor, but now know I have no desire to play until then

Just wanted to say I've got an ATI setup (5870 CFX and i7 920 OC'd to 3.6ghz) and I get a steady 60fps with everything maxed(100+ with Vsync disabled). Using AA through RadeonPro kills the frame rate and trying to enable it through editing the config file causes the game to crash on loading.

Well, I reverted my drivers to the latest official Nvidia ones, no difference. Standing inside the Jedi Temple looking in, 20-25fps. Don't have AA turned, but everything else is maxed, turning everyone down the lowest it can go in game, I gained 7fps in the same spot. There were 4 visible npcs I could actually see.

Something is wrong and it isn't my hardware, game looks no better than WoW, yet runs far far worse. I'm sure some will say, but it's beta it will run better at retail. Sorry, that doesn't fly with me, I was in the Rift beta, and retail ran just as bad, same for other mmos I've been in betas for.

I have to say that this is pushing me to pre-order. Voiced cutscenes do so much for the game.

While I'm not cancelling my preorder because of it, the cutscenes for every single quest and the loading associated with it got old real fast. Mind you I'm not even in the teens level wise yet.

What loading? Cutscenes don't have loading times.

Haha. I put it up with it, along with the Jedi Knight class, because it's freaking David Hayter. Needed to do a google search/IMDB search to make sure my ears weren't deceiving me.

I think he means the small pauses when initiating a conversation. I haven't played any of the beta but I do see it quite a few times during leaked beta videos.

I'm not sure if it's a lag problem or something.

I finally found something in the game I don't like! The space combat, it is extremely poor.

And as far as performance I've had pretty much no issue, i5 750+gtx 460 and I'm not experiencing any framerate issues or anything like that.

Good to know. I'm putting a rig together that's pretty much that.

Seems like something really minor to complain about considering it usually lasts less than a second.

I already canceled my preorder for this very reason. The cut-scenes were cool at first but once I got to the third planet I just couldn't care less. I thought WoW in the Star Wars universe would be amazing but I'm just sick of the same gameplay after so many years.

This is TOR right? So 30 credits? 5 credit fee?

That's "wipe your ass with it" money in TOR.

edit: Oh could be 30,000, and 5,000.
Considering TOR doesn't have multiple currencies like WoW I can only assume he meant wipe your ass with it money.

You must not play many voiced RPGs or something.
