Where can I find the cutscenes and instanced dungeons designed around a progressing storyline in world of warcraft?

The gate battle where the Forsaken betray the Alliance and Horde, the Lich King battle, and almost every quest in Uldum. Icecrown Citadel 5mans leading to the ICC raid.

What part of wow makes you feel like you're playing a single player game progressing the storyline of your individual character that just happens to have other people around?

Questing 80-85. Characters you meet along the way return later during leveling.

Both games have fetch quests and skill trees with a similar combat system but I don't really understand people who consider it entirely a wow-clone or a star wars skinned wow

There's not much Bioware could do to make this not like WoW. WoW's been around for 6 years now and has started to assimilate elements from other MMOs to stay somewhat fresh. At this point, the only thing that SWTOR's doing that's unique is all the dialogue.

That said, the game is pretty polished and fun to play. Lets just not deny that it is still very similar to WoW.

What the fuck!? Anyone else getting this?

"ABORT: Certificate authentication failed, please reinstall to correct the problem
(.\winmain.c/499)"

I can't reinstall, because every time I do, when I run the launcher I get this error.

Edit: well, apparently they emailed about the issue. Nvm for now.

Yeah, there was an email right after I got in that explained the fix. Now I'm sitting here reinstalling.

Anytime you get any type of expired warning for anything, always set the date on your computer back first.

Man, taking forever to install. I just know the second the game is installed my wife will be like "come on, my brother wants us to come over and watch some random football game that will make you miserable because you're just going to stare blankly at the screen for several hours due to hating football and wanting to be home but because you love me you'll go anyway".

Set the date back? Like how far? I guess I'm computer illiterate when it comes to situations like that.

Er, I've played for like 20+ hours and the wow comparison isn't 100% true but in a general sense it is. There are improvements wow doesn't have, and tor doesn't quite feel like it has the spit and polish of wow, but it's better than most other mmos out there by a longshot. Also I fawn over the KOTOR series but the only thing that stands out to me as kotor is the setting and the reactionary combat animations. The conversation is more mass effect to me, for obvious reasons.

Just set it back to oct 3, that fixes it for me. It's a fucking retarded bug and the error message wasn't even spellchecked.

I don't want to start some shit in here, but it isn't anything like KOTOR. It feels like someone made a Star Wars mod for WoW.
I completed the starter world for a class last night and it feels exactly like a MMO version of KOTOR, which is what I wanted. I was engrossed in the story for the first time in any MMO, loved it.

I didn't know 80-85 in wow had companions, multiple choice story trees and unique stories for different classes.......

Even if it did that's a tiny pittance of the overall game and isn't a valid rebuttal at all. There are many things that bioware is doing that are unique. Companions change the way you can play the game. The single player focus blows wow away and please wows story is just awful. Lvl 1-10 in tor had more story content than levels 1-80 in wow Imo. The way this game is like wow is in the slickness of the experience and in that department it isn't fully there yet but it is still a beta with a few months to go.

It's not a Bioware error message. It's a Windows/Microsoft error message. And, as many have mentioned, there's an official fix on the forums that takes approx 60 seconds and doesn't involve mucking with your system clock every time you want to play.

Ah well. It seems to work fine now and I don't have to mess with my clock anymore.

The first 20 minutes feel a lot like WoW. That opinion seems to rankle a lot of the fanboys, but it's not intended as an insult. The game just feels like WoW, which is to say it feels like almost every other MMO from the last 5 years.

I really didn't feel like that at all to me. The later parts of the game to me felt more like going into WoW when you are getting higher level and doing random generic quests for basically grinding purposes. The early parts of each class felt like to me more of a story oriented game but you eventually see fairly quick the MMO roots.

It feels like wow, in the sense it's a mostly polished mmo with the same mechanics, but there's no auto attack which is kind of lame but not a deal breaker.

Idk I started it up again but I feel nothing I've reported from last build on has really been worked on (haven't gotten to the part where there was item spawning bugs last build) so perhaps I'll play it every now and then and really start in december.

When I start the game, it never loads past the black screen and when I click it says it is not responding. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Filled out a survey telling it that the game never crashes to desktop. When I submitted it the game crashed to desktop. Good thing I was taking a break anyway!

The textures are pretty fantastic, I have to say.
which ones?

in fact, would you mind posting some of the best looking pictures you can find of TOR?

every time I look at it I'm less impressed, but I really still want to get it so I'm really interested in seeing these

Texture work varies. Lot of great texturing in places for terrain and such, while for the most part characters all have very simple and bland textures.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

And I can't take screenshots, it's disabled. :p

It's buggy as shit, you have to wait. It should load up eventually.

Only problems I've had are with the launcher, a little sound stuttering, and getting stuck for a few moments after quick travel a few times.

Now, I've hardly played (just got my first companion) and I'm still taking my time with most everything. I'm concerned about one thing: I'm playing IA so I can play the SM story fresh at launch, but I'm really loving the IA story. Even more so when including headcannon (cause that's how I roll).

I had the same problem. Updated video card drivers fixed it.

Do you guys know if we will need Origin to play/start up SWtOR?...because i`m getting the runaround with my account, with EA,with Origin and on the Star Wars site...if I change one,it`s suppose to be the same on the other but it`s not working(talking about my EA master ID here and the password...

When I applied for the beta again for Star Wars,it said that if I changed my password here,it would change it for Origin and my Master EA also but that didn`t work....managed to get my master EA up now but I bet if I try to logging at Star Wars with my Master EA,it will say it`s an error...and round and round....

You don't need Origin.

I'm impressed and pleased by the capability of the scaling. The game looks great on my desktop and runs fine on my onboard video laptop. I had some reservations Bioware might make it difficult for WoW players to make the technical jump but I've been proven wrong.

I don't know, I paid for Fraps forever ago!

Why pay for something that should be free? Is Fraps really that much better than the free alternatives, or did you just never look?

Game runs smooth at max for me with just 1 480. This is in beta with no drivers. Im sure it will be easy to run on release.

Yea.. what processor are you using? AMD Phenom x3 945 3ghz 460 superclocked 1gb, 8gb memory, I'm not pleased with how it runs at all. What is "smooth" to you? Anything below 30 is a deal breaker, which I get anywhere near a lot of npcs, I'm talking 20fps here. Constant load stutters as well.

You sure your system is clean and you have the latest drivers, etc? I was running on an x4 955 with only a 6870 and never really dipped below 30 and most times sit in the 40-60fps range depending who's around. Even on the son's PC (my old Core2 Duo at 2.8GHZ) with 3GB Ram and 4870 he's above 30 fps.

It's the best PC recording software I've ever used.

Yeah, it's not really smooth on my end either. But I have what you could consider a lower-end PC. Athlon 64 x2 4000+ 2.1 GHz, 3 GB RAM, and Radeon X1550.

That's low end, right? Planning to upgrade in a bit.

But I expected as such. It's only really bad in exterior environments. Interior is pretty smooth.

That was my point, how much have you used? :3

Yeah, the performance is pretty poor on my end too with my i7 and 6850. I ran BF3 just fine.Oh well, maybe it's a ATI or 64bit issue. Shit if I know, beta is beta.
