I'm really considering stop playing myself. I crossed lvl 10 and I am genuinely afraid I am ruining too much of the game, even if I am currently playing empire.

You really think that will happen from playing two weekends worth of an MMO?

I really don't want to re-tread too much if I eventually do a dark side toon or two. I had no motivation to do Horde characters in WoW, but given the story lines in this game, I may very well have multiple toons, possibly on each side. Primarily at first though, I will be republic.

Hopefully people are not playing in the beta the character they plan on playing when the game goes live. They are going to burn themselves out quick when they have to repeat all the stuff they already did.

Exactly why I am playing empire right now. Some people are really going to be heartbroken.

I am going to roll Republic in this beta since I will be playing Empire come launch. I wish I hadn't spent a lot of time on Empire in the last beta, because I am just going to have to redo it all come launch. However it convinced me to pre-order the game so I guess that is good.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Build notes are up on patcher apparently, but I'm at work so I can't see them. Big crew skill changes seem to be the buzz.

Wow I thought this was this weekend?

This may seem really trivial to some people; But is that new logo for the TOR website going to be the launcher logo? It looks nice :p

Also, time to promote our little guild a little bit again:

Want to play some PvP on the Republic side of European servers?

Join NeoGAF!

Which logo?

Argh, that stress test weekend can't come soon enough - I'm starting to have withdrawals, lol. I don't think I want to spoil any more of the Smuggler for myself, though. I'll probably roll Empire this time around and go with Bounty Hunter.

Alright, GAF, give it to me straight. As someone who has yet to find an MMO which really captured me since World of Warcraft, do you think I'll find a lot to like in SWTOR? I realize the combat is largely similar, but if it's as responsive as satisfying as the mechanics in WoW I bet I could dig it.

Combat is very similar minues some things like no auto attack. It feels good and responsive, not laggy or unresponsive like WAR, LOTRO, etc. Whether you will like it though of course on what you want or are looking for. Being a fan of SW will also be helpful into getting into it. If your not interested in story line stuff in your MMO, then it might not be for you as it's a big feature for the game.

swtor is WoW but with a star wars theme, so if you liked wow then you will probably like swtor

It's hard to say whether or not you'll dig it, ACE, because, well, I'm not you. I can say this though: I'm enjoying Old Republic more than any MMO that has come out since WoW, and I'm one of those people who will admit to actually thinking WoW is a good game. I just couldn't get into a lot of the other games I tried. Rift just didn't "grab" me, for example. I'm not having that problem with TOR at all.

This is like a John Williams soundtrack to my ears.

That's good to know. The main reason I didn't like WAR and LOTRO was the unresponsive combat.

When's the next beta weekend? I have a key and am good to go, but no word on a weekend yet.

Think its 25-28 of Nov. They updated the FAQ also I believe with those dates.

I BELIEVE it's the weekend after this coming one (24-27). Not 100% positive though.

Another comment on combat: I've found that the no auto attack thing is pretty nice. It's not a massive different from wow, since at end-game wow you are using every global cooldown 100% of the time anwyay, but it's really noticeable while leveling up, especially as a melee character. You are always doing something, and it makes the entire combat aesthetic flow better since every ability directly transitions to the next without auto attacks in between.

I disagree on this. I would prefer auto attack for single player content but when you're in a group, it gets disabled. It gets really annoying have to spam the basic attacks for every damn rakghoul horde.

Once you get past initial levels you don't use the basic attack as much, and you get the effect of auto attack anyways from your companion character who is always on auto

True the companion does auto attack however I would prefer just having the option to do auto-basic attacks especially when you run into your sixth horde just want traveling about.

No auto attack is prolly a good thing. I hate staring at the screen, just right clicking and being done with it.

Blizzard agrees, Monks won't have an auto-attack.
