Did you enable P2P?

C:\Program Files (x86)\EA\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic
open "launcher.settings"
make sure you have , "P2PEnabled": "true"

It was on false. Just changed it to "true". Hope that helps.

Thanks man!

I wonder if there is a correlation between these giant open beta weekends and pre-orders. I know that I was on the fence until I got into this weekend. That is probably why they have decided to open the flood gates to everyone for the last weekend. They better have a literal shit ton of servers up though.

It's partly to do with that; While not a shining example of post release sales, Star Trek Online had a ton of people going into the open beta for the short time it was open - mainly because there had been a lot of good world of mouth and a lot of interest in the IP, but this had only enforced people into seeing it as a mild diversion rather than a full on purchase. The open beta changed a lot of peoples minds there.

SWTOR's beta is the same, but its also to stress test the servers as well as seeing if all the various off-site departments in Ireland are functioning correctly since they were setup months ago.

Yes. They haven't let anybody download the client yet.

EDIt: Download is up? Huh. Well I guess I was wrong.

Wait what... is this something for a/the weekend (either beta code or pre nov11 registration) or the normal game testing members?

There is a new build this Thursday? They are just shoving them out lately. So far there has been 3 new builds in a shorter span than 1 build used to take.

Depends on what test Snake is in. I thought he was one of the people who claimed one of the beta codes for the upcoming Super Stress Test IV: Extravaganza Edition. I could be wrong about that too.

Also if you were part of last weekend's stress test you do not need to redownload the game again. The new build will be patched in when you log in.

If you're not in the regular on-going beta, downloading anything at this time is pointless. There is going to be a new build released before the next Weekend test, which even if you are "patching" is going to require essentially a full-redownload.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?

Is that true even if you were a tester a few months ago?

I would really love to avoid re-downloading 25+ GBs on my slow as hell DSL connection before the huge stress test.

Yeah I was just thinking anecdotally. I was on the fence, and being the alpha gamer for my merry crew of knuckleheads, I get into the beta and now bioware has 3 more pre-orders. But yeah, with star trek online it was the reverse. The only beta that I can remember that impressed me as much as TOR would be Conan, which had an amazing first 20 levels, which is all you saw in open beta IIRC.

Luckily I am 0/3(4?) on weekend beta's no need to patch anything. /emo /wrists

Back to mw3...

If you still have an older build on your machine you'll have to uninstall and redownload this new one. If it's the recent one then just read what Giolon wrote.

Guess I'll be deleting and re-downloading then :( It takes like two whole days!

Thanks for the input, though! :)

Same. Star Trek beta was a terrible experience for me.

3 Reasons you should avoid the Old Republic: <SNIP>

Anyone convinced? (see the comments)
Not worth clicking it, anyways he is wrong.
Standalone patcher/client ala WoW. -Sidenote can be bought via origin then you can login and download via swtor.com
Its not going for an EQ2 style art so it lasts longer much akin to WoW.
And yes its an mmo.

Fuck me for clicking on that and giving him a hit. You should be ashamed of posting that.

Why? I find it hilarious. Except to see more of this shit once reviews start rolling in. So many clueless people everywhere. It's better to just laugh at it, with jawa popcorns.

I don't care what the reviews say I'm still buying the game. Furthermore why listen to reviews because its only people's opinions. Mmorpgs always start out rough but I'm shocked by the level of polish this game has.

If you've actually played the game, of course you should be relatively resistant to listening to reviews. You either dig the game or you don't. I personally don't, but I'm thrilled that so many people here do. It's nice to find an online game you connect with.

The big question is when are they going to implement a patching system that injects the individual new files into the already downloaded archives? I mean they can't keep the current system post launch, you can't have people downloading a 1gb file to download 20mb of new files. Not having this style of patching system in during beta is bad for business, it needs to be thoroughly tested by a large amount of people prior to launch.

Anoregon

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
They already have a patching system. The difference is that in the beta, they have multiple seperate builds being worked on at any given point, so when it comes time for an update they push out one of those builds in it's entirety. When the game is live, it wont work like that.

Don't forget the entire game is in encrypted archives right now. Won't be like that in the full game. I wonder if that will impact load times.

hopefully for the better. They have removed a lot of the datalogging stuff and load times are much better.

LAUGHTREY

Modesty becomes a woman
I'm having the same symptoms as I did with SWG after playing WoW.

The game just spoils you, it's so good compared to WoW it makes WoW look and play like an N64 game.

So... I got a beta key from Curse. (BETA Testing Code (Event 1))

I guess it's for a weekend later this month and I download the client later?

Is there a better place to get beta keys?

Edit: So, it looks like I opted into testing and redeemed a promotional code. Everyone that opted in before the 11th is automatically in and I'm in because of the promotion?

If they do a larger stress test again after, I should probably have a good chance to be automatically entered into that one as well? I'd assume they'd bump the opt in date past the 11th?

The key you got from curse is for the same weekend as the invite you got for opting in before the 11th from swtor.com itsself.

There will probably be only one more beta weekend. It'll be this weekend or the last weekend of november.

The test won't be this weekend because Bioware said they're going to give people at least 5 days to get the client and it's going to be a 4 day test period. So we're likely looking at Thanksgiving weekend.

Seems odd to do it then, I would assume majority of the team behind the game is not going to be around during the Holiday weekend and such a huge stress test coming up.

Aaaaaan I am registered and flaged as BETA Testing Code (Event 1).
I had no past cravings to try this game, but now I am slowly anticipating the option to play this!

Bah, over Thanksgiving would be bad for a lot of people since most have holiday obligations to attend. I hope they push it back to a week after.
