I saw a post a page back about turning on AA for this game. Can anyone give a more detailed instruction about how to do this?

Also why can't I pick the hair that the female jedi has in the intro??

Is the "Full Screen Exclusive Mode" just for 3D?

So which has a better starter story, sith or Jedi?

While I like Sith storyline better, I like Lightside choices better. But it is probably easier to get darkside points as Sith and lightside points as Jedi.

Does the game punish you for being a lightside Sith at all?

I know playing as a Jedi, I found sabers that required Light I

I wish they would let you update your pre-order code. I want to go into the VIP area, but it still has my canceled standard edition attached to it.

I have the collectors code attached to my account and I don't even have access to the VIP area. So I am not sure if it's really working right now.

Been playing as a Republic Trooper most of the day on a European PvP server (thank god they've made more English language European servers..

It's been a lot more fun than I expected it would - the "Bioware effect" has certainly appealed to me.

And Fonds, if youre reading this, I've applied for the european Neogaf guild (user DanUK), please can you authorise me. Thanks sir.

I just may well go back and play some more...

My unwanted impressions on leveling 1 char to ~15 (Jedi Sentinel I think, Double lightsaber dude).

So, pretty boring game. Pretty bad looking as well, although I admit Coruscant has some charm to it and I like the scale and the way its done. Combat seems unimpressive and even if you are gaining different abilities there is zero tactic other than spam them to build focus, use your only AoE in groups, power attacks for strong enemies, etc. Granted, this stuff gets more elaborate as you level as in any MMO, but that is the thing... it is as boring as almost every other MMO ever. Nothing in my char felt different, fun or unique, other than the jump-to-enemy ability which I liked. Well, I also like the little healing ability that does away with buying a lot of healing items.

The character creator seems pretty limited, body types are a joke, faces look alright and design-wise it doesn't know if it wants to be too cartoony or only slightly. I made a bald dude only because the hair looks terrible in this game. I did like the female characters more but the voice was pretty bad terrible so I redid as a guy.

Quests are OK, I mean the story is what it is, the voice acting ranges from OK to cringe-worthy but I did have fun on that group quest before taking the shuttle. I didn't see the impact on the conversation choices and some numbers appeared as you picked them but I have no idea what those meant. You always seem to be either over-leveled or simply there is no challenge in missions (unless you want to be suicidal and tackle Heroics alone). I hated the respawn rates: random enemies respawn far too quickly, whereas named enemies and especially some quest items/terminals take stupidly long. Why do you have to share these with every other person in the world anyways? Waiting 5 minutes for a chest to respawn or being robbed of one while you are killing the dudes protecting it is so dumb. Grouping solves some of these issues, but when you have four 3-person groups waiting for the same guy to appear it doesn't solve shit. I guess the bonus aspects of the missions tries to make grinding a choice, but hell, having to kill 15 mobs, then 40 then traverse all the area again (while killing mostly non-bonus dudes) only to wait 10 minutes in line until other people are done killing the named NPC takes the grinding to the extreme.

Resource gathering is quick, but crafting is slow/uninvolved as hell. I crafted some blue armor for myself, and well, let's say than other than the slight stat boost I don't know what I was expecting, really. Still, it was lvl 9 armor better than whatever had been given to me/found up to that moment. I assume I wouldn't need it in like 2 hrs anyways. Companions seem like a neat idea, but just spending money to send them on random stuff and waiting for 6 minutes to see if you get the loot is not interesting. PVP was interesting, I only got to play the football thingy and it was messy, but at least it was kind of frantic.

All in all... it's still a by the numbers MMO with the only unique feature being the Star Wars license bonus if you are into that. I thought the KOTOR aspect to it would draw me in at least a bit, but no. I was going to try a Sith, but honestly I don't feel like playing it again, it is just a very tired formula and a very boring experience to me, so logging out. I should say I don't ever play WoW and dislike it as well, I only play LOTRO on and off and only because it is F2P. I bought the last expansion for that but haven't played it yet. I didn't find anything too different or unique in this game to really make me want it, and @60 + sub it is not appealing at all.

Not trying to piss on the thread or anything, but it is just not the game for me it seems.

I strongly dislike the animations in this game, especially jumping. Feels so sluggish, even with good performance from my computer.

So, I'm in the beta test weekend, started to play, and it looks fun, except one thing. My settings aren't working. I mean for graphics. Everything is on high, but my AA box is greyed. I even get loads of tearing even with vertical sync on. I tried forcing it in Radeon Pro, but alas it doesn't work. Everything has jaggies, since it won't let me use AA. :(

Anyone else have this issue?

Yeah iv got it, Nvidia card aswell. Pretty odd.

MMO'S typically have bad animations full stop, its all about function rather than flare.

Ok,not cool...I tried playing my level 9 Trooper again(from 2 weeks ago) and after waiting the 600 or so queue for about 35 minutes, once again I am stuck at the Prologue Republic Trooper screen, with the blue meter at the bottom stuck halfway, can't even escape from that without alt tab deleting out and killing the process...

Did anyone else encounter a graphic glitch with a green light/line at Mannett Point? Specifically on the broken bridge where you kill the rocket launcher guys. I'm using a nVidia GTX 460. The glitch looks like the kind you'd get with a dying video card.

I only ask because I had another 460 die on me a few weeks ago and was getting glitches similar to this one. I thought it was the card because an old 8800GT I had didn't have the issue, so I freaked out a bit when I saw it happening at Mannett Point.

Yes i was getting that too and it was the only place in the game where that green flash has occurred. 9800gt

I just had the game lock up for the fist time(besides the loading screen glitch), but i noticed in the taskmanager i had two instances of swtor.exe running when i tabbed out. is this normal?

Try making a new character, log off, then try your old one again. This worked for me a few weeks ago when they did their first update after the last wipe, but then again it might not really be the same situation.

I guess I'll wait for the free trial after the game is out. I'm sure by the time they put those features in the client, I won't be able to play. They only let you for a weekend right?

I'll try that but I think I have an idea why it's doing that...my game was installed in French 2 weeks ago but this weekend I installed it in English...I thought you could switch back and forth the language of the game, like Rift for example, like play with my french friend on a Euro server, with the game in French and also play in English, the game in English on the NA server and switch back and forth...the problem is that everytime I switch the language on the launcher,it seems to want to redownload the whole thing...

Not a bad game so far, but I think I'll pass on this. I'm simply not feeling it, and the animations feel a bit too sluggish and restrictive compared to certain other MMOs out there.

Hope it does well though; the dialogue sequences are lovely. :)

And... cancelled pre-order.

Not going to play a game where I get 3-5 FPS in busy areas when I can play 64 player BF3 maps on high with no difficulty.

The game isn't bad but I'm probably going to wait for GW2 after playing the beta, even if that's another 2 years.

After 2 days of not being able to log in because I couldn't answer a security question, I guess they turned security questions off at log-in of the game launcher. I still can't log in to the website without answering a security question that I have no answer to, but at least I was finally able to get into the game.

Runs pretty damn good on my i5 2500k, gtx 560ti , 8GB ram. I've got most everything maxed. I rolled Jedi Knight and started getting frame rate drops at the Jedi Council Temple on Tython so I'll probably have to dial some settings back.

Runs good and plays good so far for me. I've never gotten above 90ms latency, which is godly for me because I don't think I ever played below 200ms latency in 5 years of playing WoW and it didn't matter which time zone server I played on.

No major crashes or bugs have hit me yet, but I've only put about 2 hours into it.

The graphics overall are lolworthy though, especially since my eyes have been used to playing BF3 and Skyrim on high to ultra settings.

I haven't ran into anything yet to make me cancel my pre-order.

It's a texture from one of the buildings stretching too far out. I reported that myself because I thought I was about to go into a seizure when it was flashing on my screen.

Is it that bad?

I'm a lvl 8 Counselar and I'm enjoying it ok.. but if the Imperial side is THAT much better.. then I may go try it.

couple of quick questions: Where/how do I get a companion (I'm level 8 and beginning to experience some pushback from some of these mobs) and what exactly is the punishment for death? Or is there one?

Depends on class. I got the first IA one at level 6 or so, but I was just about to hit level 10 before I got the Trooper one.
