My unwanted impressions on leveling 1 char to ~15 (Jedi Sentinel I think, Double lightsaber dude).
So, pretty boring game. Pretty bad looking as well, although I admit Coruscant has some charm to it and I like the scale and the way its done. Combat seems unimpressive and even if you are gaining different abilities there is zero tactic other than spam them to build focus, use your only AoE in groups, power attacks for strong enemies, etc. Granted, this stuff gets more elaborate as you level as in any MMO, but that is the thing... it is as boring as almost every other MMO ever. Nothing in my char felt different, fun or unique, other than the jump-to-enemy ability which I liked. Well, I also like the little healing ability that does away with buying a lot of healing items.
The character creator seems pretty limited, body types are a joke, faces look alright and design-wise it doesn't know if it wants to be too cartoony or only slightly. I made a bald dude only because the hair looks terrible in this game. I did like the female characters more but the voice was pretty bad terrible so I redid as a guy.
Quests are OK, I mean the story is what it is, the voice acting ranges from OK to cringe-worthy but I did have fun on that group quest before taking the shuttle. I didn't see the impact on the conversation choices and some numbers appeared as you picked them but I have no idea what those meant. You always seem to be either over-leveled or simply there is no challenge in missions (unless you want to be suicidal and tackle Heroics alone). I hated the respawn rates: random enemies respawn far too quickly, whereas named enemies and especially some quest items/terminals take stupidly long. Why do you have to share these with every other person in the world anyways? Waiting 5 minutes for a chest to respawn or being robbed of one while you are killing the dudes protecting it is so dumb. Grouping solves some of these issues, but when you have four 3-person groups waiting for the same guy to appear it doesn't solve shit. I guess the bonus aspects of the missions tries to make grinding a choice, but hell, having to kill 15 mobs, then 40 then traverse all the area again (while killing mostly non-bonus dudes) only to wait 10 minutes in line until other people are done killing the named NPC takes the grinding to the extreme.
Resource gathering is quick, but crafting is slow/uninvolved as hell. I crafted some blue armor for myself, and well, let's say than other than the slight stat boost I don't know what I was expecting, really. Still, it was lvl 9 armor better than whatever had been given to me/found up to that moment. I assume I wouldn't need it in like 2 hrs anyways. Companions seem like a neat idea, but just spending money to send them on random stuff and waiting for 6 minutes to see if you get the loot is not interesting. PVP was interesting, I only got to play the football thingy and it was messy, but at least it was kind of frantic.
All in all... it's still a by the numbers MMO with the only unique feature being the Star Wars license bonus if you are into that. I thought the KOTOR aspect to it would draw me in at least a bit, but no. I was going to try a Sith, but honestly I don't feel like playing it again, it is just a very tired formula and a very boring experience to me, so logging out. I should say I don't ever play WoW and dislike it as well, I only play LOTRO on and off and only because it is F2P. I bought the last expansion for that but haven't played it yet. I didn't find anything too different or unique in this game to really make me want it, and @60 + sub it is not appealing at all.
Not trying to piss on the thread or anything, but it is just not the game for me it seems.
