Starting to get very happy with X3. I made enough money tonight to buy a bigger ship, a military transport that can carry 4 other ships and deploy them as well as a boarding party of 2 marines. I need a bit more money to make up my full team of five marines and then I'll be ready for war. I have my two original fighters in there currently, the thing controls like a boat of course but I feel like such a bad ass rolling around the galaxy (slowly) in a trojan horse ready to pounce my prey. :) Tomorrow I start capturing other ships!

I think in the 30 hours or so I spent in X3:TC, I was maybe in combat five times haha. Quite the different playing style you have :p. I just went towards sector traders as fast as I could, and then on to building my first factory complex.

I was doing a lot of missions up until now but tonight I did some ship freight scanning mission and they gave me 600,000 credits, heretofore I had gotten maybe 60,000 at most and I was like, "O.O new ship time!" I was thinking about getting a different fighter but I saw I had enough for the TM and I was very interested in doing ship takeovers so I decided to go for it. I'm not sure this thing'll be great in a fight with it's lack of maneuverability but that's what fighters are for, right?

Heres a question, is Heroes of Might and Magic 6 going to be Steamworks (like RUSE) ? The Wiki page says Steam as the distributor and the trailer says "available on Ubishop and Steam"

Don't think so.

The beta is using ubisofts own uplay account system, so I'm positive the full game will be the same.

I think they said that RUSE using steamworks was only a one off thing.

I got Who's That Flying? shortly after release, and I couldn't figure out how to get a gamepad working. Might've been updated to make it function though.

On the storepage it shows PS3 buttons, probably because they reused the screens from the PSN version, does someone know how it looks on PC?
The art is incredibly crisp at 1080p meaning they must have actually given us 1080p assets.

The button prompts show keyboard buttons, even if you use a 360 pad. 360 pad did work without tweaks for me.

Ah, ok, thanks. Might get it probably.

Ah, didn't have a 360 pad when it came out, it didn't like my other gamepad. :/

I have it on PSP and i love it. Its from the same guys that did "Monsters (probably) stole my princess" wich if you check the GAF thread you'll see it was one of my 2010 GOTY's.

Im probably double-dipping, and you all should get it.

It has an interesting twist in the genre wich is that you dont have a health bar. You can take all the damage want, but the monsters cant get past you cause you are defending the city. So your "health bar" is really the city's health bar, and you cant let monsters go through and attack it.

I made a thread back then: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=413222

wasnt popular though :p

So I just beat BoDVII / Cthulhu Saves the World. It took me about 14 hrs to beat both, and I'm heading back in to do Cthulhu's Angels. I wasn't so sure about replaying it so soon, but the first few minutes are hilarious. Pro-tip: Save your game to the other slots once you beat it. You don't want to overwrite it.

I still feel dirty for only paying 2.60 for the pack.

What was the website that sold cheap steam cdkeys? I kind of sort of want Dungeon Siege 3 :x

Intkeys has it for a little over $20 and that is the site a lot of people used for Witcher 2 earlier. CDKeysDiscount has it for $25 and I have personally used them before.

Dungeon Siege 3 has acouple big no-nos for a game of the hack n slash/loot genre

-No randomized areas
-No new game+
-Plays best with an Xbox controller

Was buying it mainly for coop, but a few have warned me about how stupid the coop is.

I bought Who's That Flying, cool little game. The Total Biscuit video gives you a good look at it. At the core the game is a side scrolling shooter, and each level gets progressively tougher. Blast around taking out all the baddies and save each city! Seems like it might be a fairly short game looking at the Steam Achievements but it is only 3 dollars, and I can see myself going back to this game from time to time attempting to improve my score. Seems like a fun time waster game, when you want to go in and play something quick for 15 to 30 minutes.

I think this is the same group which made Monsters (Probably) Stole my Princess. One of the few playstation minis I bought and that game was pretty awesome.

No web site, no forums, no update history. Stellar! Not buying.

Well the game has some Steam features:

Steam Leaderboard
Steam Achievements

WTF: Yeah. the keyboard layout should have swapped out when playing with 360 pad. i still haven't figured out what ctrl is lol.

It is the Left Bumper. I figured out to hold you don't want to be moving around with the left stick or grabbing your enemy won't work. Get close, let go of the stick and hit the left bumper. Then hit A to do damage!

Just played around with Who's That Flying for a bit. Pretty fun game and it worked with my HRAP 3, no problem. It sucks that you can't rebind the controls but the default mapping is serviceable. I don't see any leaderboards anywhere in the game though unless they are only available in Infinite and Challenge mode. Anyone know?

Since this is sort of the de facto PC gaming thread, I remember a few days ago reading a post somewhere about borderless full-screen mode that makes alt-tabbing more reliable, and someone posted a program that could make most games do that. Anyone remember what it was?

This is for Source engine games: you can put -windowed -noborder into the launch command line. I think you really only need it for TF2 or older, as L4D2 and Portal 2 have it in the options.

Question:

If I havent bought anything on steam, I cant access the community features or add friends. But what if someone gifts me something? If I activate the gift will I be able to unlock the community stuff?

Hard to see why not, gifted or not it still is a regular game that gets added to your library. But I don't actually know.

Kind of a major bug going on steam atm.
Steam wont find some account details after the latest client update. The issue seems to be happening when the new client is freshly-installed (not 100% confirmed tho).

Got locked out of my account atm (cant recover password, " account doesnt exist")...
Bummer, just after the summer sales + vacations :(

Here´s a thread on the forums about it:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1993846

Hope noone encounters the same problem! And waiting on the ticket reply from valve :(

In case anyone from UK or Euro GAF is interested, Game has Dungeon Siege III for £10. And zavvi has Homefront for that price.

Both are Steamworks titles.

Very tempted with Dungeon Siege 3 because it's the limited edition.

Hah, I bought the game without even noticing. Not much to write home about though, only 4 items. I'd rather they had included DS1&2.

From the product description, the best feature a PC game could dream of...
Dungeon Siege 3 Limited Edition on PC Features:

* For the first time, play DUNGEON SIEGE on high-def consoles

I took a look at the PSP minis version of the game. The only leaderboards I could see were in Infinite mode, although the game does track your scores in all the other modes.

half a million to a million copies at full price * 70% * $10 = $3,500,000-$7,000,000. Some copies were sold during the sale period of course, but I think on the low end it's at half a million copies full price.

Now realize that it's only a couple of dudes working on it. They are now millionaires.
