in most cases no, some games like borderlands automatically added my achievements when I went back on-line and I had a whole list of new achievements.

Stallion Free said:
I believe they do as I have random achievements without dates on them similar to achievements on 360 that I got while not hooked up to the Internet.

Princess Skittles said:
For the most part, no. Some games may check for a connection at launch and "sync" anything you've gotten previously, but I beleive most games only check once the achievement is triggered in the game. I think I missed a few Portal 2 achievements since my connection was knocked offline while playing (not that I minded replaying it, naturally).

Those are probably from before they started to date-stamp achievements (somewhere neat the end of 2010, I think).

So the answer heavily leans towards no, that's a pretty big bummer. Maybe Steam could fix that with an update because i'm pretty sure consoles do save your achievements offline and sync them whenever you go online. Anyway thanks guys for the info.

I'd like to trade a Dirt 3 code for New Vegas' DLC Old World Blues (9,99$).
If anyone would be up for it just PM me, I'd be extremely grateful.

So now the people that got 10 codes form the free give away are spamming the thread, awesome :D.
I've got one single code. I've just got no interest in racing games. I've asked GAFfers of whom I've received gifts from in the past if they was interested but no one was, and, since I'm a selfish bastard I thought I'd try to trade it for something expensive.

EDIT: A'ight, code went to nexen. Thanks man!

Shattered Horizons is a horribly wasted incredible concept. Buy it if you want to feel bitter that no one has tried to concept and done it well.

I know people get angry that the game was ignored by the PC player base, but I played it during a free weekend and think I passed at 2.00 dollars once. Other than graphics, it's just not a good game.

The PC player base ignored it because it was a shit game and they aren't gonna support a cool idea if it's zero fun to play. People have no right to get angry over people having good taste.

Shattered Horizon is a perfect example of an amazing idea with bland execution. It's fun for a couple of matches until you realize that there is no real strategy to it, every match plays exactly the same.

Aww man, I know I should have bought Civ5 before the sale went up. Does anyone have an extra copy that they might be willing to trade? (Long shot)

I bought two Nancy Drew games because they had Steam cheevos. These two apparently don't so I'm not buying them.

Until they go on sale.

Just finished VVVVVV. Took longer than it otherwise should have, due to me having to walk away from the computer out of frustration multiple times during the last two levels.

"The Final Challenge" drove me insane.

Her Interactive should really put their dating sim game from the 90s on Steam... McKenzie and Co, I think it was called. It'd be an hilarious curiosity.

Strangely they don't have Shadow at the Water's Edge (where she goes to Japan). It was released last October, but Steam has the more recent ND titles along with older ones. SOMEONE CONTACT VALVE ABOUT THIS PRESSING ISSUE.

Elsewhere, ghst stabs a doll which shares a striking resemblence to Stallion Free.

I don't know how any of you people finished VVVVVVVVV. It is a well done little game but hot damn is is difficult. I reached some part where I had to navigate a fall through like 4 screens of spikey walls and platforms then reverse gravity and do it again on the way up and ... yeah that was enough for me.

Isn't this part optional? I'm TERRIBLE at reflex games, but I finished it in a reasonable time.

I remember that name, 5 or 6 cds back in a day. Was it dating sim though?
I wonder why Her Interactive didn't renew their Vampire Diaries license. They made FMV game back in a day.

That part is completely optional. I tried it for about ten minutes before I gave up. I may try it again at some point down the line.

It was optional? Hmm. Well it was right at the beginning and made me believe that this game was authored for a subspecies of human that I am sadly not a part of.

edit: I guess I'll give it another go and just walk around that bit.

I'm not some gaming superman but I finished the game 100% in about 3 hours. It's not THAT hard, nowhere near Super Meat Boy for example. Second time through 100% took me an hour and a half. Also that room you're talking about is by far the hardest bit in the game, and it's optional.

Yeah, I've beat VVVVVV a few times but I still haven't been able to "do things the hard way". I probably tried for an hour but I would always fuck up on the way back down.

Go and explore a bit. The exploration was really a key element of the game for me. There wasn't a lot of it, but it helped the pacing a lot. Slowed things down a bit and gave me something else to do when I got stuck somewhere.

If it wasn't totally dead I'd probably recommend picking up Shattered Horizon just to check it out.

Yeah, one word of "praise" for this game is that (as you can imagine, since it's from Futuremark) it is a great title to push your new graphics card to the limit. I haven't played it on my new setup yet (6970 CFX) but on my GTX 580 it was insane - although I still couldn't push 60 FPS (@1080p). Beautiful, beautiful game.

To me, that is worth $5. You may put in 5-10 min and never touch it again. But c'mon, it's $5.

I never played it, but it looks like it. Well, it's half dating sim and half girl management sim. FMV FTW!

They added bots a while back. I haven't played since then so I don't know how fun they are.

Thanks for selling me on Jericho, it's actually pretty fun up to now. Wonder if it will keep up the storytelling/pacing/constant talking of the squad members, though. I don't care so much for the linearity so far, and some awesome shootouts are making up for it.

Does anyone else think that 50 bucks for Stronghold 3 is a bit steep? Now, I've only had experience with the original and I'm working my way up to the others, but it just doesn't seem like the kind of game that would warrant that kind of price tag.

Rule of thumb for Steam exclusive multiplayer only games. If it's not in the top 100, it's dead online. Stay away from Shattered Horizon.

I haven't tried it with bots either. The new weapons aren't very good. But I thought it was a unique game when I first tried it, creeping, upside down on the dark side of a meteoroid with the simulation and lights off to rip someone's suit open.

I have a special place in my heart for Jericho. It was a little rough around the edges, the characters and dialogue can be cheesy at times, and those damned QTEs fill me with rage - but at the end it was a great little B shooter with some good ideas that I hope are explored upon again someday. When Mercury Steam went on to knock Castlevania out of the park I was one of the few not surprised at all.

I'm not done with it yet but I really really like the music. The art could use a little bit of work but thats indie developers for you. Its tough and apparently has an even harder mode.

I'd recommend it for the really cheap price. Also evil avatar gave it a good review.

Been playing it a bit, really enjoying it. The music is great! Works fine with the 360 pad for those wondering.

Supreme Commander 2 - $5.99
Mafia 2 - $11.99
Civ 5 - $17

all from Amazon and register on Steam. Non-US people can buy it with a fake US address, just put 90210, CA and United States in the billing area. You will need a VPN to activate Mafia 2 i believe if your outside the US.

Actually there's already a Deals thread if you want to try and revive it.

Even though I think we should make a new one, to start fresh.
