GTA is very tempting. I already own the PS2 version. The pc version does have better graphics and custom soundtracks.

I assume the 360 wired controller works with GTA:SA?

Any good, non-episodic point-and-click games I can get for the Mac?

I've got The Dig, Machinarium, Monkey Island SE, Monkey Island 2 SE, and Tales from Monkey Island (latter 3 from the PS3).

And this pisses me off to no end. I've been sitting on this game I can't even run for forever. My machine should be able to tear through it too. smfh.

The Next Big Thing is supposed to be good.

Yeah, it's a turd sandwich all right. The only thing that seems to help a little is turning off shadows.

I can get it working fine with a 3ghz quad and a gtx 480. I think I had to turn shadows down a bit but I don't consider that a big deal. Co Op was extremely buggy though.

No offense but is there any reason you have a problem with the episodic P&Cs? It helps in figuring out what you like in a P&C.

Even if SR2 ran fine on PC, it still doesn't offer the varied environments that SA did, and I don't think SR3 will either. I could spend hours just fooling around in the desert, or parts of San Fiero, or the mountain...

Couldn't pass up GTA: SA deal. Never played it before, and loved the shit out of Vice City. Add the fact that I lived in LA the past two years before I moved back east so it'll be kinda cool seeing it recreated in game.

Check out Ben There Dan That and Time Gentlemen, Please. Two very low budget very awesome P&Cs

How is SA vanilla on pc?
It's great. I finished it 4 times, and now I feel like playing it again.

Am a bit surprised to see people wanting to play it on a controller. Looking around with the mouse while driving is something I'd hate to miss. I practically never keep the camera view directly behind the car.

Due to the costs (a lot of them are over $19.99). I only picked up Tales of Monkey Island because well... I love Monkey Island. The next episodic game that I'll probably get is King's Quest because I love love King's Quest.

Plus I like my point-and-click games not too long.

I forgot to mention I played the 1st on NDS (and previously on the PC). Maybe I should pick up BS2 instead?

For 5€ I´ll get it both for me and my bro. IS there any way to pretty up the graphics? Can you force SSAA for 60 BS a second?

He finally got a gaming pc, so if anybody wants to gift him their surplus (Valve) games, you´re welcome ;)

I absolutely LOVED Puzzle Agent.

The puzzles are very Professor Layton, but the game is hilarious and intriguing.
EDIT: it's not very long. i see you like it like that ;)

You mean a bicycle? I only drive that in the first mission, when it's required. I love motorbikes in this game though.

Yeah... i thought there were a couple "follow us" missions on the bicycle.

Would it help if you thought of the series as five or six separate games, each of which is not too long?

Also, now I'm all hyped for Telltale King's Quest again.

Loom, haven't played Indina Jones and fate of Atlantis, but heard loads of good about it.

Yeah their download speeds still weren't great this morning. It was awful late last night, around 100kb/s or so but it went back to about 80% of what I normally get. Hopefully they get their stuff fixed for the sale.

Regarding Loom... Is it a true point-and-click game? I haven't gotten far in Loom but all I remember is just pressing some musical buttons or something.

Oh and I've played Indiana Jones too. Though I wish they would release Full Throttle. :/

So I got a CAG price warning about Football Manager being under $20 on D2D. It looks like it's $19.99 on Steam now as well.. anyone have any thoughts? I've never played the game before but I love the concept..

Also, Divinity 2 for $20 seems like a pretty great deal as well. How does it compare to the Elder Scrolls series?

The point & click adventure part was used to discover the music needed to cast magic and solve puzzles iirc. Here's near the beginning if you're curious still: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6779KjKqs8s&feature=related

That's evidently on expert so no color cues.

Maybe someday GoG will release Full Throttle, Grim Fandango and all the rest. We can just hope.

Buy Rome: Total War and then download the Europa Barbarorum mod. Literally the greatest RTS experience ever made, no contest. It's an absolutely wonderful recreation of the ancient world in stunning, mind-blowing detail. If you like history or RTSes, you'll love EB.

Loom isn't an inventory puzzle game, but it's still very much an adventure game. My favorite of the genre, actually! It's really quite stupendous, though short.

Europa Universalis III Chronicles, currently on sale on Steam for like $7.50.
Be sure to grab the latest beta patch from the Paradox Interactive forums if you end up getting it.

Aren't the Total War games really just battlefields? I always assumed they didn't have the resource gathering, building, etc. of traditional RTS.

Nah, there's plenty of resource management and placing structures and and nation-building, though not in a very standard RTS sense -- mostly menus and overworlds. And battles are actually optional, you can skip 'em if you want. I suppose it is more of a strategy game than an RTS, if you're using Starcraft as a metric, but it's still really amazing.

Aren't the Total War games all RTT instead of RTS? Hell, isn't is really a misnomer 95% of the time? I doubt the scale of Starcraft is "RTS" enough compared to something like Total War (it has both strategic and tactical scales) or even EU. But anyways.
