Wow, the launcher on Genesis classics is an utter piece of shit

haha yeah its clunky other thing that kind of sucks as well is they didn't really add anything like achievements for the games or something.Games are still good though.

Correct opinion.

Who will be the first to have the wrong opinion?
Ooh, ooh, me, ME!!!

Alpha Protocol is like Mass Effect with worse gameplay, worse graphics, and worse VO.
BUT better characters (except the main character, who manages to be even more bland then Shepard), better writing (like that's hard), and better player effect on the world.

I would honestly go one step further - Alpha Protocol is like Mass Effect but Mass Effect is better in every single way.

Edit: I would still recommend for others to play Alpha Protocol, it is a good game just has alot of issues.

Top number is price in your region. Second is the price in us in $ and converted to your currency. Including the difference in %. the third is the price in UK in Pounds and converted to Euros, including the difference in %.

You also thought Kotor 2 didn't utterly annihilate Kotor 1 so......

This goes beyond clunky, I'm clicking on the next button and waiting five seconds for its laggy animation to "flip" to the next game and become responsive again.

no wonder i was so confused. the steam prices site had me listed as europe region for some reason even though i'm from US.

i changed it to the US and it's easy to tell the prices now. thanks very much for the help :)

Games that work > Games that don't work.

Would have LOVED to have finished it, but Obsidian just said NOPE! you don't get to see how good our game is!

At least I didn't run into any major bugs in AP. There was a boss fight were a guy got stuck in a tower, but that was just a short load to fix that.

God, Steam seems like it's even more unusable on capped internet. Just freezes right away when connecting. Sounds like I'm missing a sale, too :(

Even the website? You don't have to buy them from the Steam client. You can always buy on the site and then download when you're able to do so :)

The sale is all weekend, right?

The only bad thing about KOTOR 2 is the end when Obsidian was like "we're about 95% finished" and LucasArts was like "okay....we're done here".

Aliens vs Predator is shouting at me for some reason.

Is it worth playing on PC?
It's a LOT of fan service with a negligible storyline. Playing the Marine campaign felt pretty much like an Acheron scenario. Down to the facility....

I'm a huge Aliens and Predator fan, and it was worth the 15$ or so I payed for it. Awesome graphics and interface too.

Not as far as non-linearity and decision making is concerned. Alpha Protocol is leagues beyond Mass Effect in this regard.

I bought Alpha Protocol for $7.50. It's worth waaaaaaaaay more than that. $2 is a crime. Seriously. What is the publisher thinking?

It also broke at a point that didn't allow me to continue. That was pretty bad. lol

Just bought Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor (already own original + expansion) and Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes.
I didn't even need to finish the demo to know that I should buy Clash of Heroes. There are no graphics settings except resolution but it looks and runs great on my modest laptop ( 2,2 ghz core2duo, ati 4560M). I also loved Critter Crunch on PS3 and wanted to support Capy.

Are the genesis ports good? They are tempting for 0.74 cents each. Already have Alpha Protocol :(
They aren't ports, you basically just download an emulator and a ROM file.

There are a few things I liked about Alpha Protocol like how the timed conversation choices made the dialog smoother (no Mass Effect standing there while you make up your mind) and the order you do things and who you meet can allow things to play out pretty differently.

I vastly prefer Mass Effect, but if Obsidian is good for anything its adding interesting systems to their games.

Kotor 1 is a great game.
Kotor 2 is poorly paced, has annoying characters, a snoozefest of a story, and had a terrible ending to boot. It also was very un Star Wars, which I guess is a plus to many people.
Only cool thing about Kotor 2 was Darth Scion.

If nobody is buying the game then it's going to make them a shit ton more money at $2 than full price.

Even so, at $2 there's still something holding me back..

Mass Effect isn't even in the same league as Alpha Protocol.

...but have you seen their metascores? Experts say Mass Effect is about 20 points superior to Alpha Protocol.

You are right, they don't even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence. Alpha Protocol is good effort though being that it came out 3 years later.

Regarding Alpha Protocol, Stumpokapow's discussion of it convinced me to pick it up and I really enjoyed it. I think it's a great game if you know what to expect going into it, and at $2 it's a steal. Here's Stumpokapow's great GOTY review from 2010:

Stumpokapow said:
Alpha Protocol ; What a trainwreck! This is very obviously a game that was made by a number of very intelligent very bold core designers sitting down, pitching some great ideas, and then pretty much utterly failing to make that game. Whole chunks of the game were clearly unfinished or rewritten at the last minute, the development process was obviously a disaster, and it got delayed over and over again. Many things remain unrealized; character development is interesting but it's super easy to back yourself into a relative corner, and this stinks from untested or unfixed design issues. Some mechanics are poorly explained, the game doesn't perform particularly well, and it's clearly very rough around the edges. But boy golly is this game more brimming with potential than pretty much any I've ever played. Absolutely killer writing, awesome characterization, and a far gutsier main character than Badass/Saint Shepard, it is possible to make Thornton a genuinely insane schizophrenic or a nerd trying to act suave. Secondary characters are rich and allude to a world that could have been even better with more time, more money, and more people working on it. Some of the best political themes in gaming ever--there are some really rich allusions about media control, terror-through-fear, mass panic, the psychology of crowds, to say nothing of the central premise of a government agent operating as a sort of rogue spy. Mission design is great, with the tense ice cream scene in Rome or the ambiguous sniper mission in Rome where you can choose to take a confirmed shot at an unconfirmed baddie or let him live until further proof is found play with the player's mind, the embassy infiltration mission... just three of the many missions I really adored on a design level. I'd rather more companies go big and release this kind of title than retreat to safe press-A-to-win pap.
