can i use tales of valor with a retail copy of coh and opposing fronts? unless theres a reason to get the steam versions think i'll just get tales of valor since ive had coh/opposing fronts on disc for forever now lol.
Yeah, you still have to log in and register your keys with your RelicOnline account ... it's just annoying since I already have vanilla CoH on disc but Steam keeps bothering me to buy vCoH.

Also, 2 bucks for AP is probably the best deal of the year. It's not ME2 levels of polish but all those interesting systems in the game is easily worth that price.

This guy gets it.

Buy Alpha Protocol and all of your wildest dreams will come true.
2$ is such a fucking steal. I bought it day 1 and I still felt I got every penny worth.
There are bugs and other stuff but hell the story, the characters, shootin/steathing felt good man.

Yay Space Channel for $2. I nearly bought Space Channel yesterday. That would've been really annoying. Picked up Alpha Protocol too.

Medieval 2 worth getting? It looks kinda hard to keep track of everything going on.
Have you played other TW games? Do you prefer another time period? (Rome, Japan or Renaissance & Colonial Europe).

The strategy/grand map mode isn't that hard to keep track of because it is turn-based and there are plenty of ways to manage everything. It's certainly much easier than Paradox strategy titles.

is Crazy Taxi on PC the proper version with the same music and product placement?

how about Sonic DX and Space Channel?

is the emulation of Genesis games decent enough? does it have any additional features (save states, full custom controls, video/audio settings, filters, etc)?

Felt all proud buying Shining Force I & II for $1.48.

Then I saw the fourth collection for $1.87 or whatever. Gaaaaaaaaaabe

I don't think so. It was released along with the gimped 360 port as far as I remember. If it was the real deal, I would buy it in a heart beat.

Edit - late but I'll use that fix!

how the fuck do i assign the 360 controller keys to work with the genesis classics?

edit: ugh nevermind, had to use the scroll wheel. Crappy interface.

Are the ports in the Dreamcast Collection good? I'm tempted to buy it for Space Channel (looks fun), Sonic DX and Crazy Taxi.

So I have to say I'm really not loving Clash of Heroes.

The animation is really jerky when the screen is panning which makes my eyes hurt. The combat is extraordinarily tedious, though I do like the concept. The cartoony graphics are really gorgeous, but seem totally incongruous with the events being described in the text of the cut-scenes which is all "blood sprayed everywhere OMG OMG".

Ultimately it's just too random, which leads to things taking longer than they should, which leads to me getting bored really fast. For example, I just had to take out a couple of guys who were sawing down a tree and randomly shifting a cell to the left or right every turn. There's no pattern to it, so you could theoretically line up attack formations all day and never hit either of the dudes.

Then the next fight is the opposite, where there is a dude randomly moving through the enemy units who will trigger instant defeat if killed. I had the boss at like 2HP and the dude wanders over and stands in front of an elite unit which has been charging its attack for 5 turns and gets killed.

Dunno. I think I'm done with it for now.

Regarding Alpha Protocol, Stumpokapow's discussion of it convinced me to pick it up and I really enjoyed it. I think it's a great game if you know what to expect going into it, and at $2 it's a steal. Here's Stumpokapow's great GOTY review from 2010:

I'm still considering it, but that review actually make me shy away a bit (yeah, it's just $2, but I'm talking time and not money here). There are just too many solid games to play this holiday season and putting time into a flawed game, cool features that it might have under the surface just sounds like a waste of time. I'm sure it's good if you have time to fill, but that's not me right now.

Might pick up Sonic 3 + K for playing with the kiddos though.

Never played Medieval, but a lot of Empire and Napoleon. Total War games aren't that hard. You can take your time with everything. The map is turn-based, battles can be paused while you figure stuff out. On the map you built some armies and improvements, move them around, etc.

If you just want to play around on the map to conquer stuff and don't care for the battles, I do recommend you take a look at Europa Universalis 3 (get is with the Divine Wind expansion). It offers a lot more options (and the whole world to conquer), but is much harder to get into. There are some excellent tutorials online, so if you don't mind taking your time with that, it's a great game and offers a lot more then Total War.

I started out with Total War, got tired of the battles and found myself just skipping them and only play with the map. Made the switch to EU earlier this year and haven't looked back since.

seriously though, these genesis games have some weird stutter issues when windowed and input lag when in fullscreen. Weird.

Whatever, backlog be damned, I bought me some AvP. I recently formatted my computer, and have 2-3 games installed, and it shall be my new method of getting through this wicked backlog. Kick starting it with AvP.

Sucks that Sega All Stars isn't under $5.

Does Alpha Protocol have 360 pad support?

I believe it does, in fact it's recommended to be played with a pad b/c of mouse/kb issues iirc unless they fixed those.

I've been playing it with a pad in the past few weeks Jimmy, it plays really well with one. The hacking, lockpicking and bypass mini-games are a lot smoother on a pad too.

yeah it's like only like 100ms but it really does hurt me badly while playing. The emulation software they chose to runs the games is just terrible.

I might pick up the Genesis collection later tonight, though I really only want Pack 4 w/the RPGs--I'm a sucker, haha.

Also, the Dreamcast collection for $3.50 seems like an awesome deal.

And I can complete my CoH collection with Tales of Valor...

I'm a student, I shouldn't be buying anything, and I already bought some D&D games from GOG.com today. God damn you, Steam.

... I'm probably going to give in :S

fuckin Comix Zone and Shinobi III man

the fuck is wrong with games today

I can pretty much play through the first 5 stages of SIII blind.

That game is amazing. At the time, you way it flowed was just outstanding--I'd never played anything like it.

That horse level blew my mind, as well.

I bought Alpha protocol awhile a go and have never played it. When I saw the sale, I felt guilty so I started it up. I am kind of stuck though.

Control panel hacking: fine
Lock picking: easy
Computer hacking: MY EYES! I can't get past the first one. The controls are stupid for it. I'll move my mouse once I find the section but it keeps moving around after I stop moving. The real problem I am having is that I can lock in the first one with left click, but when I try to lock the second with right click, I get booted with a big red exclamation mark.

Help please!
