Smokey do you know of any worthwhile mods or configs for it (visuals etc)?

I don't. I have NBA2K11 on 360 and PS3 for the online leagues that I am apart of on GAF. I have seen a few mods (NBA on NBC) that make me go FUU. Other than that I'm not sure. Heard online on the PC version was a joke performance wise, but cannot confirm.

I'll probably pick it up when I get home. Then I'll have 2k11 on 360, PS3, and PC...

lol?

Also let me put this out there. For newcomers to this series, yes NBA2K11 is one of the best sports games ever made. However, it is very complex to a new user. I've played the game extenisvely since 2k7 or so, so a lot of the mechanics are easy for me. I've seen new players really struggle with how to do iso moves, step backs, up and unders etc. If you stick with it that will all come in time. Also, pretty much every player has their true to life shooting form which means that the release points will be different for each player. Now add that to the fadeaways, runners, signature moves, free throw shooting forms, the 4 different types of dunks, the 4 different types of layups, post moves, pick and roll, pick and fade, stutter steps, cross overs, spin moves, dual player control, ability to make subs on the fly, change defenses on the fly, change defensive matchups on the fly...

and it can get complex as I mentioned :p

But stick with it and you'll be in love :p

I know this isn't the exact right place but I got NBA 2K11 on D2D. Was playing a random game with the Bulls vs Lakers and Phil Jackson was all up in that action.....

It should be. Would make basketball such much more awesome. An angry coach following around the players bitching at them lol.

I've seen instances where coaches kind of wander on to the court and stay for a few seconds but I don't remember them going that far out and staying.

One time, Thibodeau wandered out but he kept walking past all the players and walked into the stands behind the basket. He was gone for the rest of the game, though when a timeout was called you would see the players around a floating clipboard. Very entertaining.

I mean I couldn't believe that he was in the court like that. I almost let it slide and then went into replay and sure as I was, he was even further in than I thought.

I wasn't even trying to get that last funny pic but it is quite aesthetic. It's deep. Almost art.

The funny part is that he has physical mass so Gasol was like bumping into him and everything. At least that's what it looked like in the replay.

Yep, I've been trying to teach a friend how to use Isomotion on the PS3 and it's absurd how much information overload there is for a new player.

Going through My Player mode helps a lot in learning these moves tho.

It is a joke, even worse than it was on consoles. The settings drop to like ultra low even though my friend and I both have powerful computers and we both did the benchmark thing. The players didn't even look like themselves either (Korver had no mouth!). We had to try for 30 minutes just to connect to the game, and while he claims on the 1 game we did manage to play that he had no lag...I did. It was about a 1-2 second delay on jumpshots so unless I could get a layup or dunk I couldn't hit anything.

Such terrible online

Anyone trying the Star Ruler demo, the tutorial is just a bunch of screens of text. I wouldn't mind, but there is no real dedicated tutorial, so anything you read you don't even need to do to prompt continuation of it.

I found some videos of the tutorial subjects, much more interesting: http://www.manapool.co.uk/star-ruler-video-tutorial/

On paper it looks like a better version of Sins, it also had custom shipbuilding (blueprints). I'll give the demo another spin because it seems to be fun but takes a bit of time to get used to.

Looks like the Summer Sale packs are starting to be added, or one of them at least!

qV5Uu.png

Edit: Some details - looking at the App IDs for the Star Wars pack, it seems to include every Star Wars game on Steam, including The Force Unleashed II.

And here we go.

Edit: Valve test app beta? hmm

There are a few of those, the two in the screen above link to the same IDs in the applications section, but there's no info for them yet (ie the installation directory which usually would tell us which games they refer to is still labelled "TestApp[whatever]").

Its really weird. Sometimes when others have access to the registry I don't. I will click on it but the message pops up that usually means they're adding to it. Also it seems that my version is out of sync with others. Like you posted a few additions recently that weren't on mine.

Wasn't there a Star Wars Pack already? Could have sworn I saw it a few days ago, but nowhere to be found now. It was 60 euros if I remember correctly.

Figures the sale is likely next week as one of my RAM sticks died today and they'll all have to go back next week to be replaced.

Looks like all buying and no playing next week for me!

That's worrisome to me.

If I buy it I certainly want to be able to play online and I already know that NBA2K has a rather notorious history with their online play, so your experience is not very surprising or encouraging.

You certainly have a point about Vicky II being more complex then EU3, but I did make the point about needless complexity and I think it applies to both of those games. I didn't play a whole lot of Vicky II or HOI3 but it seemed like there was a lot more micromanagement of your economy and research not all of which was, to my mind, something that added to the game. EU3, in my opinion, allows you to feel like you're guiding your country without descending into the minutia of the day-to-day operations. I've got the HOI2 complete pack and I'm about to start playing that game so I'll probably feel different once I do.

You do have more hours put into these games than I do, so I'll bow to your knowledge of their systems and associated complexity :D

Ledsen

I saw that you wanted some more of my thoughts on Divine Wind, so here goes. Now, as a caveat, I haven't played the beta patched version that Kabouter talks about, so maybe all of these issues have been fixed. Here goes:
  • Ming: Playing as China was supposed to be revamped completely in DW and made more interesting through the inclusion of various factions in the Imperial Court. When I played the game, again pre-patches, this system didn't really work. It seemed like it wasn't really very well balanced. I didn't really play very much with Ming though, so take it with a grain of salt.
  • Alliance Cascades: This. This right here. I want to . . . sit down and have a very serious talk with the nutter who coded this "feature". To be fair, it really seemed to be an unintended problem that happened due to some change that was made in the diplomacy-related parts of the game but it was the biggest annoyance I had, especially since I play as the Old World European nations most of the time.

For example, if I play as Castille, my first move is almost always to guarantee Navarre so that I can get a free CB on Aragon when they inevitably declare war on Navarre a couple of days from the start. This always worked out fine in pre-DW EU3 since I would get into a fight with Aragon, pick off a few provinces from them, force the release of Navarre and do it again later if I wanted to. Try this same thing in DW however and you're in for a shit storm.

Not only will you be fighting against Aragon, but if they entered an alliance midway through your war, you would now be at war with their new ally and all of the allies of their new allies. It was beyond retarded. I would end up in a perpetual war with Aragon, Sicily, Navarre (since Aragon would conquer them), France, England, Burgundy, Bohemia . . . and the list goes on. And this would happen in almost any mainland European war when playing as any country. This was an acknowledged problem on their forums and, at least a couple of months ago, there was no fix out for it and it totally killed my interest in the game, especially since I can't just install the game up to HTTT again. Maybe the beta patch fixes it, I don't know.

The alliance cascade thing really upset the balance of the game for me since it left my country so torn apart from either stability loss, war exhaustion or inflation that my tech would lag and I would almost inevitably lose the race to the New World. It also made wars needlessly protracted.

I don't remember there being one, but Valve may well have been testing for the Summer sale and added it too early, then removed it. Nothing seemed to show in the registry until now.

Not confirmed, but i might be getting a couple of extra copies of Deus Ex Human Revolution (and some more new games, all redeemable on Steam) for sale (hopefully for a bit cheaper than the regular price), or to trade with you guys for some stuff during the summer sales since im broke. Might wanna wait on that pre-order.

Summer Sale 2011 is basically confirmed then right?

Yep I'd say it's confirmed now, the "Summer 2011" in the Star Wars pack seems to indicate it'll be one of a few packs on sale. It could just be a weekend deal of some sort, but it sounds like it'll be part of the sale.

Look at the Hitman collection, Worms pack, and Thief complete. Definitely summer sale.

Forgot about those - yeah the Hitman collection includes every Hitman game on Steam, so still no Contracts unfortunately. Confirms the Summer sale though, I'm guessing it'll be Monday.

I'm guessing the reason for not Steam not having the summer sale today was not affect the release of F.E.A.R. 3 I guess. Think they must take into consideration of not having major sales on game day releases.

much more likely not to have the servers bust with summer sales + TF2 going F2P

Wasn't the Star Wars pack over $70 last year? I can't see myself spending that much money when I would only want 1/3 or so of the games in the pack. Hopefully I can pick what I want and not make out too badly.

What pile of trash requirements require such a requirement?!erjglkdjf

I have just under 50 to start the supposed sale so I will definitely not be blowing my load on just 1 pack of games that I already own some of anyways.

The good news for me is that I will be able to load about another 30 next week so I will likely not fall short. Especially if it doesn't even start until later June or early July.

TFU1 - I get large black areas in the reflection maps. Looks bad.
TFU2 - 30hz locked with that annoying 30->60ish upscale effect. I hate this. It does look like it is running 60hz but you get an annoying halo and ghosting around objects that have sudden motions (like characters)

Also while TFU1 has a story that is worth playing TFU2 is clearly a cash-in throwaway.

I think the bigger problem is the 30GB download for people on a 60GB bandwidth cap per month.
