It is a joke, even worse than it was on consoles. The settings drop to like ultra low even though my friend and I both have powerful computers and we both did the benchmark thing. The players didn't even look like themselves either (Korver had no mouth!). We had to try for 30 minutes just to connect to the game, and while he claims on the 1 game we did manage to play that he had no lag...I did. It was about a 1-2 second delay on jumpshots so unless I could get a layup or dunk I couldn't hit anything.

While I agree the online is aweful offline beats the crap outta the consoles. Even without mods it blows away the consoles, and with the mods its just insane. Considering I can't stand playing people online it is the best basketball game ever.

• Alliance Cascades: This. This right here. I want to . . . sit down and have a very serious talk with the nutter who coded this "feature". To be fair, it really seemed to be an unintended problem that happened due to some change that was made in the diplomacy-related parts of the game but it was the biggest annoyance I had, especially since I play as the Old World European nations most of the time.
  
  For example, if I play as Castille, my first move is almost always to guarantee Navarre so that I can get a free CB on Aragon when they inevitably declare war on Navarre a couple of days from the start. This always worked out fine in pre-DW EU3 since I would get into a fight with Aragon, pick off a few provinces from them, force the release of Navarre and do it again later if I wanted to. Try this same thing in DW however and you're in for a shit storm.
  
  Not only will you be fighting against Aragon, but if they entered an alliance midway through your war, you would now be at war with their new ally and all of the allies of their new allies. It was beyond retarded. I would end up in a perpetual war with Aragon, Sicily, Navarre (since Aragon would conquer them), France, England, Burgundy, Bohemia . . . and the list goes on. And this would happen in almost any mainland European war when playing as any country. This was an acknowledged problem on their forums and, at least a couple of months ago, there was no fix out for it and it totally killed my interest in the game, especially since I can't just install the game up to HTTT again. Maybe the beta patch fixes it, I don't know.

The alliance cascade thing really upset the balance of the game for me since it left my country so torn apart from either stability loss, war exhaustion or inflation that my tech would lag and I would almost inevitably lose the race to the New World. It also made wars needlessly protracted.

I don't. I have NBA2K11 on 360 and PS3 for the online leagues that I am apart of on GAF. I have seen a few mods (NBA on NBC) that make me go FUU. Other than that I'm not sure. Heard online on the PC version was a joke performance wise, but cannot confirm.

I'll probably pick it up when I get home. Then I'll have 2k11 on 360, PS3, and PC...

Yea I have it on 360 as well and its not looking as good at the moment. I wonder if my settings are not saving. I'm going to go digging for mods tonight and will report what I find in the 2k thread in case it helps anyone.

Bolded is what happened to me all the time when in a war against the AI. Every way would last years/decades longer than it used to when I played HTTT. Like I said, this could be something that they fixed later, but it caused me to stop playing the game. I was raging something fierce.

EDIT: IIRC, one of the wars that I got into with Aragon lasted from Oct. 1399 all the way until 1415. 1415!!!

I don't really play the commerce game, but I generally find that only those CoTs that you start with or those that you acquire that are on coastal regions are worth keeping. Having a CoT on a coastal region also gives you a good bonus to colonists per year which I find to be very useful, especially since I like to shoot for Quest for the New World and colonize all the East Coast provinces of North America. Generally speaking, you want to have the Auto-Send Merchant option turned on for your CoT and destroy any other CoTs you get that interfere or take away trade from your main one. You want monopolies on your own CoTs.

I would also recommend against colonizing or getting involved in wars in North Africa. The tropical modifier really makes maintaining and supplying a good sized army there a bear. The New World or Asia is the way to go.

I recently purchased the Jedi Knight pack. Kyle Katarn is a turd but the games are still kinda fun, at least for a Star Wars nerd.

Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast multiplayer > all things before it and all things yet to come.

I never even played the single player since it came out, but I'm definitely in the cult that still plays it ultra competitively today .

You have to register with the gift card's website first. Just look in the package it came with, or if you don't have that just tell me what type of brand it is and I'll try to get you the right website.

Yes you can, I did it once.
Just type in any billing address, the credit company should always approve it. At least that worked for me.

I just added 25 to my Steam wallet this way. Register the card with your credentials though.

Virtua Tennis 4 and Sega actually managed to add online play. I will definitely be picking this up but may wait for a price drop. I hope there is still a community for this when I get it. Sega needs to get Sumo Digital to add online play to Sega All-Stars Racing. Even the iPhone version has online!

I know we have tabs already but is there a way to open links in tabs? I tried CTRL+Click and right clicking but there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. I usually do my browsing via ALT+Tab so I may just be missing it.
