LOL I bought this at launch and they still haven't fixed the memory leak issues?

I never had a problem with slowdowns or crashing in the 70ish hours I put into the game. I believe there was some longer loading times after a while but never any of the other stuff.

Oh great :(

Is there nothing I can do to prevent the memory leak bullshit?
Quit the game after 2-3 hours of playing it. If you notice that loadings takes more time then before, you know it's time to restart the game.

I once had a bug when after few hours of playing the AI stopped working, ie. enemies didn't attack you, auto combat didn't work (your companions just stand there, and if you wanted the character you were playing to fight, you had to constantly click on the enemy/abilities), and some scenes just didn't trigger. Restarting the game helped.

Hmm. I just installed it recently (in my wasted excitement for Dragon Age II) and patched it to the latest version and didn't notice any of the memory leaks that plagued the game at launch. In fact, some of the patch notes say that the memory leaks have been taken care of for the most part. It played just fine for me and I didn't have the ten minute loads that I had at launch. For reference, I didn't have the Steam version.

With my Hard Drive completely full and ~10 games still uninstalled, I decided to shelve Majesty and Doom 1 for now, and focus on completing games based on how many GB they are, ha.

Darksiders (10GB) is up first. Dead Space (7GB) will be next. The Witcher at 14GB is actually the biggest offender of all right now, but I'm not quite ready or willing to dive into it.

Heh, that's exactly where I am at with my backlog. Strat games are pushed to the wayside for the multi platform releases, that are so short these days, so I can burn through and uninstall. I just completed Medal of Honor earlier today, awful sp. Steam says I played it for 4 hours, I swear a half hour of that was the cutscenes+watching the entire credit roll.

Next up is Bad Company 2, that's almost 9 gigs I get back lol. I'll probably finish off Fallout 3 before moving onto Fear 2 after that. My biggest offender is Dragon Age Ultimate Edition, at almost 24 gigs. Besides finishing FO3, I'm trying to stay away from 15+ hour games right now, just so I can burn through a lot.

Created a Category yesterday of the ones to remind myself to burn through first. These could net me a huge gain of free space

Think I did ok with the sale in terms of backlog fears, but now it´s time to enfore the old rule: If it´s not one my anticipated releases - demo is required before purchase. Even if it´s a 2€ euro game. So no Jamestown and no Terraria or games like that now.

I was able to abid by my own variation of that rule, only two games the entire sale, $7 total. Not much chance of a backlog build up from them alone.

Instead of taking out the Summer Holiday sales they put it in an "expand" it design.
Seeing as that happened after the Summer sales I assume it means we'll be allowed to show off our holidays acheivements.

I personally like it but I know a friend who doesn't, so hopefully they allow us to edit it.

The expand it design is only temporarily according to a Valve employee. There is going to be a more permanent place for it in the coming weeks, probably a separate webpage and a link to that webpage on the community page.

Something of side bar for the special sale achievements would be pretty awesome. More if they can retrieve the Potato and Summer Sale ones.

I just can't get over how great a game Sanctum is, it's easily my deal of the summer sale. I paid 2.50$ (I think) for the game and I'm already 8 hours deep, almost all of that time in cooperative multiplayer. I've played the tutorial and taken a crack at the first level which I interrupted to go play some multiplayer. Part of the enthusiasm comes from being relatively new to the tower defence genre, the few hours I spent playing Defense Grid to get the Out of Bullets achievement for the summer sale ticket was my incredibly enjoyable introduction to the genre. But Sanctum is also an interesting take on the TD genre and very well done at that. There's still the same sort of tension setting up the maze, building what defences you can with the resources you have and watching it all unfold. Sanctum is probably a little more intense (or agonising) than your typical tower defence game because you actively participating in the defence. When the wheels fall off and your maze and defences fall short, it's a mad scramble to try and stop the enemies or mitigate the damage. It's such and simple but cool game.

I hope the sale helped the developers out a bit, Sanctum was the number one daily deal when it went on sale and they deserve whatever success they can get.

So I'm having an issue with BFBC2. I don't think the high settings are sticking, cause it doesn't look that great and Fraps is recording my FPS as between 100-120, impossible for high settings considering I'm running at 2560x1440 res?

Edit: Apparently it was running in DX9 so I manually changed it to DX10. Now the weirdest thing is happening and I've never experienced it before, I'm getting motion sickness, I think from the FOV. What would be the preferred FOV on a 2560x1440 16:9 monitor, I can change it in the ini settings.

Hmm. I've got most indie games installed for fun, but I told myself I have to finish

BFBC2
Lara Croft
Deus Ex GOTY

first, before I play anything else. These have been laying around since winter. :p

Out of my backlog, I'm going through Duke Nukem Forever right now and it's pretty decent. It's not as bad as I thought it was when I first got it. Only problem I have with it is that it seems to have performance issues. My CPU is at 100% and it stutters a lot.

I'm not getting any of the confirmation emails though for the Steam Guard stuff either. I tried opening a Steam Support account with my email adress and I didn't get the confirmation email either. So I created a different Steam Support account with an alternative email address and that however did receive the confirmation email...

Huh, that's weird. Quick guess is that they store existing email addresses on a different server and 'newcomers' gets placed on temporary/newbies mail server, or you just got lucky by that time. I can see how not getting any steam guard emails can be a pain... However, I do hope they are placed on an entirely different cluster of servers than the one( s ) for receipts.

Hmm, seeing the ticket banner on the profile page really makes me wish that they would better integrate achievement stuff into their community pages. For instance, they should list like a total achievement count on your page and maybe the icons of the last ten or twenty you've gotten. And maybe a little badges showing each game's icon for all the games you've gotten 100% achievements on. There's so much they can do with it, honestly.

Also, why doesn't the "All Games" tab show achievements like the "Recently Played" tab?

DOS, short for "Disk Operating System",[1] is an acronym for several closely related operating systems that dominated the IBM PC compatible market between 1981 and 1995

This. I seriously just bought like 10 steam games, and have a backlog of like 20, yet I'm replaying Echoes for the 7th time. Why do I do this?

That INTkeys deal is might tempting. This site legit?

I imagine it would have to be like that other site posted earlier in this thread or the last one, in that they're not an authorized key reseller. You would run the risk of getting the game removed from your Steam account.
