Are there any such patches I'm missing for the rest of my Steam haul from this past sale that you guys would recommend?

I don't know when I get around to playing it, but at that price, I don't have the heart to not buy at full price.

I got a review key for them already, but I'm planning to gift it to at least a few people I know.

Play Last Scenario or Exit Fate instead of this. Plus they're free!

Yes?Zerokku said:So a video showing off basic exploration and glimpses at the battle system, without giving you much of an idea to its depth, nor any glimpse off the hilarious writing in the games, when that video was intended for nothing more than a small trailer with an amusing song is all it takes for you to write them off? Try playing them first.

I'd rather not, I'm not paying any money for what looks like it amounts to a rpg maker game.
And those two games both have very good scripts and challenging battles within the limitations of a Final Fantasy and Suikoden styled game system.
It's bad enough you have RPG maker games being sold for absurd amounts of money like this:

http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-3SD/3-stars-of-destiny
or http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-AVELO/aveyond-the-lost-orb
A better PC "jrpg" (though I say that rather lightly in this case) would be Septerra Core
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-SEPT/septerra-core-legacy-of-the-creator
Which is neither a rpg maker like game, nor is it a typical rpg.

It also helps with high resolution modes, widescreen and other stuff so you should get it regardless.
The other stuff runs fine.
Also: Don't tease us about Deus Ex 2. That doesn't come out for another month.
What other judgement do I have than a video and either reviews or word of mouth? I doubt there's a demo so I simply have to base it on what I see. I take personal experience more than reviews or videos though.Zerokku said:Maybe I shouldn't have posted the video. Then we wouldnt have had to read your ignorance about a game you've never played as you make a judgement call based on a video that gives you no real idea about the game whatsoever.

Setting aside the fact that the two games aren't actually RPG Maker games, why would you dismiss an RPG simply because it was created in RPG Maker? Would you not pay money for Machinarium simply because it's a Flash game, so to speak? The tools used -- be they raw Direct3D/OpenGL, UE3, Flash, XNA, or even RPG Maker -- are simply the means the creators use to materialize their visions. I think one should judge the end, not the means, and by all accounts the two games are worth the money.Gvaz said:It's bad enough you have RPG maker games being sold for absurd amounts of money like this:

I played 95% of them, but if I liked a game where the majority seemed to not, I believe (i think) I stated something to that degree. The "meh" games could have gone either way, those were more of a "if you're into x genre/style/type/setting/whatever..." and "they're not terrible but they do a few good things..." for example.Stallion Free said:I believed that you played all those games. You could create a junction so that your games are on a different drive than your Steam install, but I'm not sure if that will fix your problem.Pandoracell said:I know there are a multitude of apps that handle moving Steam data around, but is it possible to move just the Steam application to a different drive and leave the games where they are?
My issue is that Steam is locking up on me constantly, and it's perhaps related to drive performance, as it seems to have gotten worse as I install more games. I'm not sure if moving just Steam would even make a difference as it still has to launch games from the other drive and what not, but maybe it's worth a shot?
For this to actually work properly for vista (or windows 7) users:
-Copy the game folder to the destination you want.
-DELETE the entire game folder from it's original location or the command will produce an error.
-run cmd.exe as administrator
use the command: mklink /J "C:\junction folder\game" "D:\actual folder\game"
it will create a folder where the old one was but it will have a little arrow thingy on the bottom left corner of the folder icon. Essentially a shortcut folder. Now you don't have to buy bigger hard drives or uninstall games or wait for steam to finally have this functionality built in.

You're welcome! Once you get it running, I'd suggest using the in-game configuration thingy to turn off the new lighting system. It's distracting and kind of ugly.jling84 said:Win 7 64 is exactly what I happen to have. Thanks for this!

Read here if you want to try the junction method. I tried it when I wanted to have Mass Effect on my SSD (not enough free space for all of my games). It worked fine, but I wasn't having any problems before, as you seem to be.
edit: might as well just include that post here
The PC version is really glitchy graphically for a lot of people. It's safer to just buy the HD console release.adam.chance said:Is there an updated list of what games from other distribution services can be activated on steam? I loved the game, finished it about a week ago at 60 or so hours. But around the 30 hour mark I began to experience unbelievable slowdown. It would happen every time I played for an hour or more. Exiting and restarting always helped but it was very annoying. I had lots of crashes early on in the first 10 hours or so but that seemed to improve over time for whatever reason.

Regardless of that, I suppose my contention here charging for what seems like low production values (intentional or not). I don't really have a contention with the actual game design of a Dragon Quest game (I enjoy them to a degree), but it rubs me the wrong way like when sega released dosbox roms of their old games and overcharged for it.
I'm not saying that you shouldn't buy it if you like it,
