Does anyone know when Guild Wars 2 might hit Steam? I heard their waiting out after release to put it on steam at a later date.

shame really, Felicia Day is one of the characters.

What are the chances that I'll like Red Faction: Armageddon if I didn't enjoy Red Faction: Guerilla? It's 4.99€ on GamersGate.

It's been pretty bad ever since the summer sale ended. People have gone completely stupid since then.

It's gotten so bad that I'm barely posting outside of this thread when it comes to gaming side. Dark Souls thread was the worst by far and almost unbearable.

No, it almost certainly won't be on Steam. Valve has some new business terms will keep almost all new MMOs off Steam.

Keep in mind the GW2 client is free to download from our web site and has no copy protection. (And if it's really important, you can add non-Steam games to your Steam library.)

Depends on what you didn't like, I think it's a tad underrated. Still not a lot of games come close to the destructibility of the environments.

For 5 is a very competent game. The tech was really impressive to me. Nothing special in terms of plot but some really cool concepts going on like the Magnet Gun and the nano restoration unit.

Only thing i lamented was not being able to find anyone to try the wave co op multiplayer because it seemed like it could be really fun.

How I wish I could tell you things.

If
he ends up not being a robot
I'm working on the assumption that it is because there's some other completely batshit crazy plot twist instead. I already know I'll be playing this for the gameplay instead of the story and cutscenes anyway. Pretty bad IMO. The scene with
the Japanese guy and all the kids, where the robot grabs the kids leg, is just silly. Everybody is standing around with a gun but only the two player characters decide to actually pull the trigger and then they're treated like they did some amazing favor? If the kids were really as hardass as it made them look when they were talking about just killing you that robot would have had fire from 8 different people raining on it.
I've already groaned at several cutscenes. A+ writing this is not.

Armageddon is a solid third person shooter. It's got an inventive arsenal, some of which you may be familiar with because you played Guerrilla. The game never forces you to use anything, you can bring whatever toys you want from the nanite rifle which dissembles the things you shoot to blackhole guns and rainbow farting unicorns (yup). It's got the same satisfying destruction with it's buildings but you also have the added ability to rebuild structures as well. The Descent-like vehicle sections are awesome.

Easily worth 5$.

I didn't like the open nature of the game. I'm not opposed to open world games but the missions felt rather poor designed, enemy encounters didn't feel engaging at all and wrecking shit got old after a while. Certainly not my type of game.

Try the demo and see.

I'd love to but I fried my PC recently and since I'm moving in the next few weeks I won't be able to play any demanding stuff until mid-September.

This got me intrigued, especially the Descent part. Is it more linear or still mission-based like Guerilla?

The free weekend for the game gave me the impression that you´re required to login to their servers to play the game in single player.

If true, I´ll pass.
I am about 99% sure you don't have to sign into anywhere to play singleplayer, I don't have it downloaded at the moment but I would be shocked if that's the case.

How in the world did Maplestory get on Steam?
Is it the same NA servers or is it something new?

Well, Vindictus got released a few weeks back so MapleStory getting on Steam isn't that farfetched.

And yeah it uses the same NA server and it is region locked most likely, like the rest of the Nexon games.

Hmm. Redownloading now. Gonna have to see what I actually did there.

And I just suck at the game. My Blade is at level 1. My save was outside a boss chamber. Kept dying at the third form (either fourth or fifth time) because I forget how to defeat that form.

And then I suddenly remembered I got past that point last time, and died when it started spawning a bunch of different additional enemies on the platform ride up. :lol It's hopeless for me.

I will say, though, game is smooth as butter at 1080P@60fps 3D (120hz). There's a rare hitch then and now, but people who complain it can't hold a steady 60fps must have some hitch/driver bug. Because I can absolutely notice hitches in 3D more than 2D and this game is silky smooth 98 percent of the time.

You have to make a Kalypso account upon launching the game in order to log-in and play.

Gateways is coming to Steam September 13.

And if you buy through the Humble Store, you should get a Steam key in September.

I will quote my post from July 9th, 2012. Greenlight could help with the selection process, but it seems something is already going on inside Valve for the review of indie games.

I will put a list of already released (at least an alpha version) commercial indie games which are worth it, yet not on Steam.

Okay. Gabe, I know you are listening. :)

Explodemon isn't very good, but Stealth Bastard is coming to Steam. Maybe that'll open the door for more releases.

Not all the games I quote are very good. I found Explodemon decent.

I don't expect all of them to go on Steam. Maybe the next one by chubigans could go on Steam.

But, compared to some games already on Steam, I believe they deserve to be too.

Yeah. I got it in a bundle after being all excited by the videos on youtube. I find it a whole lot more exciting to watch than play. Kind of felt bad about questioning Valve on that game. I wouldn't have been excited to greenlight the game either if I was in charge of that.

Just checked another game off my backlog. No way I can bring my self to get through Jade Empire. Game has not aged gracefully graphically. And worse, after just coming off playing The Witcher, the dialogue/VA is atrocious.

hehe damn I just started that game and I'm only 20 minutes in so far but I really like that there is a different setting on that rpg. How long did you play it? Graphics I don't care about but I need a somewhat decent story.

Uhm... I just got a notification that I bought the Guns of Icarus Online 4pack... but nothing is showing up. I checked my inventory, my library, my e-mail account, my transaction history... nothing. Steam acting funny?

Doesn't GW2 have microtransactions? It's probably referring to how you need to use Steam wallet for in game purchases with games on Steam.

You don't.

Plenty of games have micro-transactions and no need for the Steam wallet.

I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that you need to par for the client.

Really? Could of sworn that was part of the f2p dlc changes back when.

Only like 25 minutes. Maybe I'll give it another go some other time since it probably was a really bad decision to play it after just finishing The Witcher. For some reason the voice acting was just really rubbing me the wrong way. And this is from someone who actually likes the acting in the original Deus Ex (so I can appreciate... um... camp).

Nope.

Stuff like APB, Star Trek Online, Blacklight Retribution all have in-game store and nothing as Steam DLC. I guess they can offer packs directly on Steam but so far, I've just seen stuff for Tribes.

It's weird that GW won't be on Steam since The Secret World just went up.

Well I wasn't talking about selling the dlc on steam, rather needing to use the steam wallet to purchase in game(I know Spiral Knights does this as that's when the change was made). Wasn't that the reason Crysis 2 was taken down, due to it's in game store?

That's not really what he meant though. You still have to purchase the stuff in the in-game stores with money from your Steam Wallet.

Edit: beaten by the man himself.

Over the last 6 months, it's happened twice. Will try one more time. Can the saves be back up like normal saves?

If it's not GFWL, don't see any reason why not.

And what kind of PC gamer are you?;) Didn't you have like 100 saves by that point? Couldn't you just roll back? :lol

Or are you saying all your saves got corrupted? That's weird. Last non-GFWL game that happened to me on was No One Lives Forever.

It's a linear, story driven game but not so linear you literally feel like you're being funneled down a straight corridor. For what it's worth, I enjoyed Armageddon more than Guerrilla, I know that's not the general popular opinion but I've always enjoyed the more straight up shooter Red Factions. Except 2, no one likes 2. If they do they're bad people who should feel badly about themselves.

To be honest, no one really knows why Crysis 2 was taken out. We have speculated that EA refused to sell DLC on the Steam store and decided to do everything in-game. Steam got pissed and pulled the game from the store. As a rule of thumb, non free-to-play games have to offer all their DLC on Steam. They can sell it anywhere they want to, it just has to also be on Steam.

As a matter of fact, the "Complete" edition of Crysis 2 was added to the store. I guess since all the DLC was included in the game, EA just didn't care.

I back up all my saves. Must have forgotten one. Use a program to do it now, though. :D

Sure, but f2p games, at least back when it was announced, needed to use the steam wallet for users to make microtransaction purchases.

Perfect, it's bought then. Thank you guys!

Weird, it doesn't have GFWL to help the corruption along.
A save file corrupted? Somehow, some way, it is GFWL's fault...

Put a few more hours into Binary Domain. Cutscenes aren't quite as terrible as in the first hour.
I wasn't really feeling the story for the first half of the game, but then it kicks into gear and it is awesome. I was stuck playing it until 3am because I needed to see how it ended. Keep trucking, it may draw you in too.

In all of Valve's games on Steam. I expect constant stupidity, offensive trash talk, etc, but it seems every server I hop into in CS:GO or TF2 I'm playing with someone with a name that's just unimaginably vile. I guess this is the wrong thread for this, and it seems people are desensitized to it, but whatever -- I was just curious as to why Valve doesn't have someone poking around making sure people don't have names involving child rape or molestation, or profile pictures like the person I traded with in TF2 earlier, which had a woman with what appeared to be an apple in her ass.

Edit: I'm finished. Was a simple question. Realize this thread is about consumerism and not Steam the platform.

Leave that soccer mom shit for consoles. The only thing they could do to stop it would be using the kind of limits you see on consoles. Very limited choices for names, and then you'd probably be stuck with that name. Or pay $10 every time you want to change your name like you do for xbox live. And the only way to prevent porn in avatars is to force people to use only avatars from a select few that Valve would provide.

I don't say this to be derogation towards consoles, but if you want that kind of control over people then you should be playing on consoles. As long as their avatar isn't illegal then I couldn't care less. I've seen tubgirl sprays in CS and it doesn't faze me one bit. These people arent in my friends list and something like that makes it just a little bit easier to decide who does go on my friends list. It's a benefit actually.

But you ARE being funneled down a straight corridor the entire game. There basically aren't even any side passages or detours, just one long corridor. Beyond that though, what really soured me on Armageddon (that's a funny sentence if you make that A lower case, heh) was the horrible enemies. They all look the same and are incredibly boring to fight with no interesting gimmicks whatsoever. It may be worth it for a fiver, but I'd say only play it if you're really bored and have no other TPS you'd like to play.
