Does anyone have any first hand opinions of Expeditions: Conquistador? It looks like it could be pretty great in the trailer.

I really like it. It can be tough but usually coming from your own decisions. Resources seem extremely scarce but I assume this is a design choice.

Some of the menus can be a bit odd - I almost starved everyone to death :)
Battle system is fun and there are hours and hours of game in there. Story is well written and interesting.
The way I have been playing. there is less fighting than I would like and I feel my followers are difficult to level. It might be that I am exploring too much and not moving the story forward. Given the scarcity of resources, exploring has ended up being maybe not such a good idea.

Bottom line is, its a great game and good value.

I thought we'd have Carmageddon on Steam by now given it was added to GOG's library by Stainless itself last September. I wonder if Stainless is planning on re-releasing Carmageddon 2 and the pair will come to Steam in one swoop.

Talking about publishing, I so want all Falcom games on PC, translated too.

TitS would be lovely. Gurumin and Zwei would be appreciated. Ys 6, 7 and 4 remake too.

Sigh, why are Japanese companies so bad at Steam... Not only Falcom, I'd kill for Atlus or Gust games... :(

Anyone think Steam will have a big sale 12th september since that's when Steam have been among us in 10 years?

I've been wondering that myself, but I think the back-to-back Halloween, Autumn and Winter Sales (October/November/December) makes a large-scale sale unlikely. The 12th does fall on a Thursday, though, so a special sale in lieu of that week's Weekend Deals isn't outside the realm of possibility.

A sale would be a lame way to celebrate 10th STEAM anniversary.

I would expect a new feature announced, a contest or even a giveaway for the veteran active users.

So the Stalker franchise was on sale a couple of days ago. I hurry up and buy Call of Pripyat as I heard great things about it, and at 4.99 I couldn't say no. Install the game, dowload the "COP Complete" mod and for some reason the installer can't locate Call of Pripyat on my PC. The installer mentions that if you've bought the digital version of the game you should run it once first before installing the mod so my first thought was that for some reason it can't detect that I've already launched the game several times. After several reinstalls I'm about to give up when I finally notice what the problem is...I bought Shadow of Chernobyl instead of Call of Pripyat!

It's not an either/or scenario, but having said that I don't see Valve giving "veteran" users preferential treatment; the most likely reward, if any, is a special badge.

Don't get your panties in a bunch, Saoirse, I meant Trails in the Sky games.
Obviously Valve is far too prudish to allow real porn games on Steam.

I know what you meant. ;) Incidentally, though, I'd like for Valve to somewhat relax its (presumed) policy on AO-rated games, so we can get Manhunt 2.

Innovative Europa Universalis IV save game convertor is gonna let you continue your Crusader Kings II game in Europa Universalis IV. Not got CSII? It's going to be a pre-order bonus from August 1st:

Players who pre-order Europa Universalis IV will be given a free copy of critically acclaimed strategy/RPG Crusader Kings II, Paradox’s hit title of diplomacy, dynasties, and double-dealing set in the Middle Ages, to add to their own library or to give to a friend.

Early adopters will also receive a new Saved Game Converter for Crusader Kings II, which will read the details of a saved game from a Crusader Kings II and convert that into a game that can be played in Europa Universalis IV. Fans of Crusader Kings II will be able to maintain the empires they have established and guide them through the age of exploration in an all-new strategic experience, continuing their personal stories of expansion and conquest.

Both the saved converter and copy of Crusader Kings II will be available as pre-order bonuses on August 1, and players that have already pre-purchased Europa Universalis IV will receive these additional bonuses. Strategy fans can prepare for the long road to conquest by pre-ordering Europa Universalis IV, details on all pre-order bonuses can be found here: www.europauniversalis4.com/buy

To demonstrate how converted saved games will work in Europa Universalis IV, Paradox will be showing off the converter in a live stream on Twitch.tv. Eager conquerors can tune in on July 30 at 11 a.m. PDT (6 p.m. GMT, 7 p.m. BST, 8 p.m CEST). The stream will be live at http://twitch.tv/paradoxinteractive.

For +1 on game list or for both +1 and actual game value?

Curious, since I've tried Manhunt 1 and quickly grew bored, and I heard the 2nd game was worse.

For +1 on the game list and to fill the gap in my library (EA taking its ball home to Origin was the worst for this -- Mass Effect 1 and 2 but no 3, ditto for Dead Space, and so on).

Thanks, much appreciated. I think I'll pick it up, it seems up my street and I have half the money for it in my wallet already. Cheers.

SpeedRunners beta keys went out a few hours ago, apparently. I received one despite having no recollection of signing up.

Tell that the Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Don't you have to download more data once you've "activated" the demo? I can't install the Steam demo as I have the full game, but the download size mentioned on the website is around 200MB less than that of the full game, and the demo has a different app id.

I think it depends on the game. I'm pretty sure I remember not having to download some games over again after having downloaded the demo.

Ah, maybe. Can't say I've ran into that myself.

Gee, this is a great deal for those that don't (somehow!) have CKII already - I'd imagine most, if not all, to whom EUIV appeals would have it already... but you know, kudos to Paradox Interactive all the same.

Man, EUIV is going to be great, I can feel it... but it's also likely to be an endless time sink of godly proportions, so I must resist splurging on it now. Backlog, you guys know how it is.

I don't know about the steam version but the SCS Software shop page gave a link to download the game and after several deliveries, it asks for a reg key that after paying for it, it just continues your game completely.

Same reg key can be used to register for the steam version.

  • No Internet connection needed to play
  • No CD-ROM necessary
  • Convert to full version for €29.95 / $39.95 with no additional downloads
  • Instant activation
  • No shipping, waiting or installation DVD necessary
  • Product Key redeemable on Steam

Yay we get a horde mode in Bioshock Infinite today.

Thanks everyone who ever made that garbage mode popular and viable to devs to exploit and shove into every game that doesn't need it.

About demos, do I need to download the game again after I purchase it or is it like psn where it's just some sort of unlock?

Depends, there are a few demos like this on Steam but not many. And even on PSN it's usually only the indie games that offer these unlocks.

http://www.polygon.com/2013/7/30/4570634/castlevania-lords-of-shadow-demo-coming-to-pc-tomorrow

A demo for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is slated to hit Windows PC via Steam on July 31, developer MercurySteam announced on Facebook.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Ultimate Edition will make its official release to PC on Aug. 27, prior to the launch of its sequel this November. Lords of Shadow first released in 2010 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Keep your eyes on Steam for the demo's release tomorrow.
