I finished Psychonauts and am beating myself for not playing this years earlier. The story is great, the characters are hilarious, the humor hits more often than it misses and the gameplay... well the gameplay is passable. Until the last level that is,
where I really did not like the escort part and then nearly broke my controller at that fiery fence jumping.
But really, everyone who likes games should play this game. Good humor in video games is so rare that I cannot find other examples off the top of my head except maybe in some Point&Click adventures.

Oh rock of ages, do not crumble, love is breathing still. Oh lady moon shine down, a little people magic if you will.

:D!
I love it when people discover this title, such a great game, one of my all-time favorites. Should really get around playing the Steam version some more, achievement hunting and the like.
I feel like i'm the only one whom really liked the gameplay, though. Except for that psy-ball, didn't really like the monkey ball-ness. And The Meathouse could get a bit frustrating. :p

Always nice reading about people playing this great game for the first time.

We don't have "get out of jail free" cards, but if we did, she'd have one.
I don't even care so much about the badges, I just have this compulsion to collect the full set of cards for games I like, ugly or not. I mean it's not going to cost a ton to complete the sets I want, I just wish I could get them all myself via gameplay. I guess that would sort of diminish the trading aspect, but whatever.
Well, you can always wait and hope for booster packs.

...If that's the first time you're hearing about booster packs, you may want to read parts of this post (skip down to the "how do I obtain all cards in a set" and start scanning from there for booster pack talk)

This sounds a little too confusing for my liking. I don't understand the part about taking photos. Wasn't it supposed to be a top-down shooter?

Well, looks like I won't understand it unless I try it. Then I may be able to make good use of your tips, once I know what I'm dealing with. Thanks a lot!
You know how in shooting games there's typically a bomb that clears the screen? That's the photos. You can't kill anything; you don't actually have a standard shot. You can only fire your screen-clearing bomb to get rid of all the bullets.
Knurek mentions that it's a good trainer because you can't kill anything and your bomb has a recharge time. So you can't just spam massive damage and hope the enemy dies quickly enough that you don't get overwhelmed; you actually have to practice and improve at dodging bullets.

This is the Steam thread though, so to steer us back on topic I will recommend eXceed 3rd. It is considered very accessible because you can turn on an option that will automatically drop a bomb when you get hit in addition to having an easy mode. At least two posters in the Indie Bundle thread were able to clear Autobomb Easy on their first try, so...

There are three eXceed games on Steam, but...well, the second is a bit rougher visually and the first is pretty rough on all fronts. If you are interested in them anyway, the trilogy will probably be $5 (or less) during the Winter Sale or a daily deal. There is also an IndieGala bundle running right now that has all three of them, but if you're not interested in any of the other games it's not as good a deal since it will cost you at least $6.30 (the price keeps changing).

Same here, played it a month ago, and loved it.
Where's the sequel? :(

So GAF, would you recommend the first Darksiders for someone who doesn't really care about The Legend of Zelda series?

Also, how long does it take to complete Psychonauts? I played like two hours of it last week and found it reasonably enjoyable, but then left it when I started Tomb Raider. I'm in a backlog clearing rush and don't want to play very long games right now.

Also, can someone explain to me what all the collectables, crystals and stuff in Psychonauts do? Don't know if I didn't pay attention or the game just didn't explain itself well, but I don't understand what all that collectable stuff does.

Depends on why you don't like Zelda. Is it the gameplay or the story you don't care for

I think Psychonauts might be a 10-15 hr long game. It took me 10 but I didn't bother with achievements.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.

What about Zelda specifically don't you like? Or you're just indifferent? For what it's worth, the only thing similar between Darksiders and The Legend of Zelda is the 3D action/puzzle hybrid genre. If you don't like 3D action/puzzle games, you probably won't like Darksiders.

10 hours. 20-25 if you take it "slow", like you should. Talk to everyone, try everything. Suck up the atmosphere.
Collectibles make you level-up, which gives you new psychic powers. At level ten, you get pyrokenesis, for example. (if I remember correct, that is)

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Yeah I redeemed a gift card, was hoping I could use my gift card rather than Visa.

It's a little confusing, but I believe Amazon is just acting a payment processor for your credit card and it isn't linked to your Amazon account in a traditional way.

I'm playing through Binding of Issac for the first time. Initially I loaded it to idle for cards but after the intro video made me laugh (i know, I've got a sick sense of humour) I decided to try it.

WOW! it's incredible. I've just been killed for about the 20th time (I've never gotten very far through the game) and I always blame myself. I've never felt the game has cheated me it's always a stupid error on my part. I know the game has been getting great praise through the Steam threads and I just wanted to sing its praises also.

Thanks for the answers guys. So Psychonauts it is next.

I'm ambivalent about Darksiders. God of War style combat sounds cool, but I don't like the puzzles from Zelda.

EDIT: Decided I'm not going to buy Darksiders. It looks tempting at that price, but my backlog is pretty full already. Getting the Puppygames bundle instead, since those seem like the kind of games I can play in short bursts.

The mosin rifle model from DayZ Standalone

Looks amazing

Every weapon gets brand new models and sounds. It sounds like there will be a very limited amount of weapons at release due to this though.

Right, you've only got three hours to wait to see if you won a game from this batch boys and girls.

I've removed the NO WINNERS restriction so that you won't be locked out from winning System Shock 2 because of your apparent 'win' of that game earlier.

If you don't win this one then I'll just gift you the last copy of the game I was going to raffle. Even though I don't think I've done anything wrong and it's just a ModBot glitch I feel rather bad that you've been told that you've won a game only to have that game denied you. Hopefully this has revealed a bug in ModBot's program and Stump can fix it so it doesn't happen again. Anyway, please do enter for the game again. Best of luck!

WOO

thanks woo and indeed hoo

finally get a chance to play FTL!!!!!!

So yeah, surprise to absolutely no one here but Rogue Legacy is some good stuff.
I just wish someone warned me that the third playthrough gets straight up danmaku.
Now to find something else to tide me over 'til Spelunky.
