In my case the problem was that I had .NET framework 4 and it would only work with the 3.5 version. Sadly downgrading wasn't an option for me.

You... don't downgrade .NET, you install all versions of the framework you need.
On my win7 dev box, I have 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 installed concurrently.
Yup, I have both installed but supposedly it does not work while you have 4.0 on your computer, don't know why.
EDIT: With downgrading what I wanted to say was uninstalling 4.0

Rayman Origins is a fantastic party game. Played it last night with 2 friends (yeah, very small party, I know) and we had a blast! It's really fun just to rush through the levels, and not letting your friends catch up with you, only to die and have them laugh at you for making everyone lose. I can only imagine this game will be awesome with 4 players.
And I really really really regret now not buying Legends from Dunder when I had the chance. It seems to be Origins on steroids, and after last night it's now one of the new games I wanna play the most. Oh well, just the one time I tried to be smart about my purchases it turned out to bite me in the ass. That's what you get for not buying a game because you think you already have a lot of them. Buy buy buy!
Sonic Weird Title Transformed is also a great game to play with several players locally. Haven't tried Guacamelee because I believe it's only 2 players max.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
At the beginning that is definitely it. After a while though it becomes more of a strategy - the type of character you select really matters. What weapon / armor / runes you pick for that character matter even more.
After a lot of the upgrade "paths" present themselves the game gets really interesting - stick with it and you won't be disappointed.

Yes and no.
Different classes have benefits that make reaching certain areas easier which unlocks items that make the game easier. Some classes have skills/talents that make the game easier.
Obviously you could grind it to death and buy stuff but that'll take a LOT longer to do.
Basically, there's options.
It's like Spelunky in some respects, where items there can help you, but they won't solve the game for you. With RL, in addition to boosting traits, you can unlock classes which mixes gameplay up even further.
