Some people are more prone to detecting the differences. I have a friend (and so can I, sometimes) that can notice the refresh rate of Fluorescent Lamps and using a computer monitor with a lower than 60hz refreshrate drives him crazy.

I've been saying that I can't notice a single frame above 60fps, but I don't think I ever had a monitor that displayed at a faster refresh rate than 60hz, so there's that.

Maybe my older Samsung 19incher did, as it was a tube monitor, but I think I ran it at 60hz anyway.

A lot of people are like that funnily. One of the type setters at my work always gets head aches from the strip lights and his monitor if he doesn't take a break ever hour or so. That's even with diffusers over the light and a filter over his screen. Most of the tubes we have here are full cycle ones too so 100-120hz.

Oh god, those PAL audio tracks are messin with my head!

And to think we were oblivious for so long here in PAL territories. I feel sorry for South American countries like Brazil where they use PAL but every bordering country uses NTSC.

Holy shit

That ending to Bioshock.

You will be blown away.

Overall game has a few issues.

Stuttering
Artificially lengthened at points
bullet sponge enemies
Checkpoints are too spaced out

But it is an excellent game overall.

I really should get back to playing Bioshock. I feel like I've put like 7 hours into the game but apparently it's only 4, and apparently that's only like 30% of the game. Feels kind of a chore at this point.

Speaking of that I noticed a TF2 update but the bioshock items are still locked. I would really like to sell these steam.

damn you

how long to beat?

Steam says 10.4 hours, but I played a few hours on Monday over VPN, so I would say around 14. and I explored like crazy.

Wait...which Bioshock is this?

Infinite.

Why is your tag changed?

It slows way down in the middle/end as they try to artificially lengthen it. The issue is kind of exasperated by the bullet sponge enemies.

I suggest picking it back up again, once you get to the Comstock house it starts picking up again.

There was an interview on GTTV on the Metal Gear Solid 5 sub game titled the Phantom Pain.

In it appeared a man wrapped in bandages, like one of the guys in the original trailer.

People were calling the man who appeared in the interview computer generated because he was filmed off location, with different lighting, and it was altogether strange.

Here are my personal thoughts on it, Derrick was apart of TeamCG btw

I can't believe any rational person would think that was CG.

Would Konami really allocate $500,000+ to some random, un-marketed interview?

The answer is no.

And if you wish to argue with me about the cost, go ahead. I ask that you first go and do some research and educate yourself into the actual costs and man hours of developing such a project.

First go read about the costs that goes into one Skullgirls character. Then watch FOX engine presentation during GDC the OP is referencing.

The real matter at hand here is people can delude themselves into thinking things. They spent hours combing over compressed gifs, and any inconsistency they started to believe.

I was expecting the Tomb Raider items to be marketable with the update, but unfortunately they are not.

Speaking of locked inventory. I have items from X-com, The Cave, Dishonored that I'm not able to sell. The others items I have are from Don't Starve, Company of Heroes 2 are of course not marketable, what gives? I don't play TF2 I just installed it and all these items popped up. Read the faq, have steam guard enabled etc.

Dude from a game site/show interviewed a guy in a bandage from the Metal Gear Solid series, specualtion was whether he was part of the cg or was an actual human being. Today it turned out he was an actual human being, Kojima, who is the God that makes the MGS series, wearing a mask.

Basically people took sides whether the guy in the bandages was real or not.

You need to purchase something from the Mann Co. Store in order to sell stuff from your inventory unless you got TF2 from The Orange Box.

You need to add funds (a minimum of £5.00 - not sure how much it is in other regions) to your wallet. You should buy the cheapest possible item in the Mann Co. Store and spend the rest of wallet funds on games, if you aren't playing TF2.

That entire MGS thing reminds me of the Indoctrination theory from ME3. People unpack the assets, compared the textures, tried to find clues in the dialogue to create that crazy fan theory that the entire ending was a dream.

Humans are really strong at believing anything as long as there is some kind of "proof" behind it.

I'm guessing my tag is gone because of the comments I made in the original long ass thread about whether that dude was CG or not, but I don't know why they took it away when I voted for Real when the poll went up. I thought that was the entire point of having a poll but instead I was penalized anyway despite picking the right choice.

Someone found and linked all of your posts about believing it was CG.

I just popped in to the thread like 20 minutes ago and immediately noticed it was CG.

Team CG here.

No matter how far gaming tech progresses the eyes always give it away :p

I'm new to the thread so forgive me for repeating what has probably been said a lot, but those eyes give the CG away. I don't think I've ever seen a human do a slow half blink like that, unless they were purposely trying to.

That's still some really impressive stuff though.

Thanks, didn't know that.

Yes:

There's something wrong with my eyes, I don't think there can be another explanation.

Yeah I didn't even watch the video with keighley, I just saw some gifs and it made him look like it could have been. I guess that's my fault for not really paying attention to it.

Why would you ever judge fidelity of anything through shitty gifs ripped from a shitty youtube video?

And that would have been a far better ending than what we got, Extended Cut or not.

Quick/weird question from a Steam noob. Is there a way to get a proper desktop icon for a game that is installed? I bought and installed 10,000,000 and the icon is just a white square. Thx

Try right-clicking it, choosing Properties, Change icon and browsing until you reach the .exe of the game, select it and the icon within, and there you go. Probably.

Right-click the game on Library and choose "Create Desktop shortcut". They usually come with the icons. Not sure about 10,000,000 especifically.

This is not what he means. The developer of the game 10,000,000 did not include an icon for the game, so if he does what you described, he gets a generic white page icon (I have this game as well and just tried it).

Getting into the PC space is a slippery slope. I've got two dozen games I'm eager to play in my library but every time I open steam I just start thinking about how I still want to grab Terraria, Shatter, They Bleed Pixels, Frozen Synapse and Awesomenauts before the sale ends. What is this new disease?

On a sidenote, when I have been able to pull myself away from plotting purchases I have been racing through Bioshock to bone up for Infinite. I had some problems getting it to run at first and still can only get it to run if I open up Steam as an administrator. Is this a problem that has a permanent work around? I've tried disabling UAC and setting steam.exe to always run as administrator but then Steam freaks out over compatibility mode. Sorry if old problem is old or if this is not the right thread.

I'm not sure on the name, but there's no cure.

The only thing that alleviates the pain are the Steam sales. Thank god for them!

I call it "Steamtitis" :p

I have a fever and the only cure is more Steam games!

Maybe this is too revealing but I have a similar problem with porn.

Yeah i'm in the same boat. I thought i could get some steam bucks for the stupid hats that i don't use. I like TF2, but don't really care about hats.

It has some hard puzzles in my opinion. Take a break once in a while.
I found some of the puzzle design to be very obtuse. You aren't the only one who hit walls.
I thought I was alone in that, I couldn't beat it, had to cheat pretty damn early on.
Wow, so I'm not that stupid then. Or we all are, lol
(let's go with the former, shall we?)

I'll do what some of you told me a couple of weeks ago and start Alpha Protocol.
