Still without a proper relaxing time to spend some quality time with my good GAFfers, but just want to say that the monthly Steam thread is really useful specially to check what games are coming during each month. This is good to keep me updated on what to look for. :)

Miss you all. I need more time in my days! :(

I took a break from my steam backlog to dust off the WiiU and finally play SM3DW. Jesus, that game is such a joy to play. For you 3 other steamers that have a wiiu and haven't played it yet it comes highly recommended. I had a hard time turning it off this morning to go to work.

Just a tiny news fragment, but Steam pre-orders of Wolfenstein will also get Doom Beta access. I know there was some ambiguity about that earlier.

Updated FAQ

Cool. Still wish we knew more about the beta itself.

It's still very successful, nobody ever said it was failing. People say it's terrible but that's because it is.

No there were people who were saying it was failing in a few capcom threads throughout this year. Also terrible is a strong word. Most people just can't get over that the series isn't going back to it's roots.

So, what other Marvelous games do people think could come to Steam?

Interesting interview with Esteban at Siliconera about the localization of Half-Minute Hero 2 and future Steam releases:
http://www.siliconera.com/2014/04/03/marvelous-half-minute-hero-2-bringing-games-pc/

So, what other Marvelous games do people think could come to Steam?

I think the newer Rune Factory 4 and Harvest Moon: A New Beginning would actually work well as they are, mainly, 3D assets and could natively scale to higher resolutions.

I think the perfect fit would actually be Muramasa: The Demon Blade

Maybe they could work out a deal with imageepoch to bring special editions of the Luminous Arc games to PC, at least in Japan. I'm not sure how complicated it would be since Atlus published them in the US. But I'd definitely buy updated ports of them. Especially considering the third game never came westward.

Same, never got to try it.

It's not bad, the swords-skills tree encourages players to keep playing to unlock new and more powerful stuff/moves, yet I reckon there are other better games in the same genre out already on Steam - Dust an Elysean tale, Guacamelee - if you haven't played those I would recommend to you to play them instead.

As for others Marvelous games, Little king's story is nice on Wii but the controles were not flawless, it may take advantage of a keyboard/mouse controls, too bad that the team that developed originally is no more.

As much as I'm digging the last couple of years of the late port initiative I'd rather being seeing original releases or new IP than port after port after port. Though I can see nothing wrong with a fine balance of new and old.

Hopefully these Japanese publishers are just playing catch up and we will get the new releases.

I've always said, these ports are awesome but it would be much healthier for the platform if we could get these games day one.

Getting MGSV:pP, KH3, FFXV day one would be massive.

Do the playfire awards work if I live in North America? I thought they were for Europe only when it launched but thought I remember it changing or something.

It'll display in GBP but be converted to USD on a daily exchange rate when it gets deposited into your GMG account.

I have it on Wii and never touched it. Is it good?

It's incredibly fun on first playthrough then gets old because there aren't really a whole lot of variety for enemies and your skillset, you do unlock different weapons.

The boss fights are the only thing that keeps the game fresh because they are really cool, the art is nice and it's fun and challenging if you put it on hard (at least at the beginning).

I got kind of bored of it after beating it once with the girl.

Batman: Arkham Origins - Blackgate can look pretty good when downsampled from higher resolutions. I think it ended up better than Assassin's Creed: Liberation visually when translated to super HD.

The game suffers during close-ups but generally speaking it translated to higher resolutions admirably (I'm downsampling to 1680x1050 from 2520x1575). I don't know if I'd place it ahead of LibHD but it's certainly far less offensive to the visual senses than expected.

I hope so too dude. MGSV should be a no brainer for Konami even if Ground Zeroes sat out a release. After playing the PS3 version coupled with the long wait for V I feel it would be a bit of a gamble for Konami to pass on PC again.

Kingdom Hearts might be a touch too far but the Final Fantasy renaissance on PC at the moment might make XV a possibility (if not a very, very slim one).

Hahahaha. You're still using a 1680x1050 display? My 2 old ones have burn't out by now and my 1920x1200 Dell is on it's way out.

I hope that my Playfire credit gets deposited into my GMG account soon, the Mechromancer pack is 75% off there and I'd like to try it out, even more so if it's free.

Are playfire rewards only available that week or after new ones come out can you still do the old ones? Also where do you see all the achievements?

I wish Playfire rewards worked with already obtained achievements. I missed getting credit from Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2 and now Psyconauts and Nihilumbra, the last two I have 100%. :/

Well, at least you're receiving credit. I've not received a thing yet and still no reply from them as to what's going on with my account :/

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." ;) But that being said, it is -- quite literally -- falling apart in spots. But it still works!

I just followed a guide for the Fade to make it over with faster. I had to set the difficulty to easy for the boss though. How shameful of me.

There's no shame in doing whatever it takes to reduce the time wasted on that garbage called the Fade.

It's okay, Salsa will edge ahead when the game is ported to the 3DS. Just you wait!

I have a 3DS too. I shall prevail everywhere!

Meanwhile you, of all people, have not bought the game yet. Have you no shame?!

Jase just has to hold out until OLED drops to consumer level pricing.

OLED @1440p is going to be delicious.

Once the Summer Sale comes and goes, managing my Steam-related funds should be much easier and, more to the point, much less of a drain.

Edit: Speaking of Steam, I still can't open my badge page. Bleh.

btw bioshock infinite's story was worse than its gameplay and its gameplay was so bad.
just saying
#truthfacts

I agree with all of this. I disliked all of my time with infinite. I actually didn't like Bio 1 and 2 as much as others back in the day. But after infinite I definitely was too hard on those games. They're masterpieces even if you don't like Bio compared to infinite. My biggest disappointment was the story. It starts interesting enough than just plummets. When It turned into ghostbusters near the end I knew there was no saving it. Even thought the twist was weak felt more like they needed one so they tossed that idea together Shymalan style.

In other news that isn't PC related if Snake gets confirmed on this NIntendo Direct for Super Smash i'm going ot loose it. The effects will probably reach into the steam thread so giving some warning now.

I don't really follow this too much, but aren't we getting rumors for Raiden?

Hahaha I can relate to that. I kept a CRT monitor going for about 3 years after everyone and their mum's had shift towards LCD despite it going a funny hearing aid beige colour and taking an age to warm up. Maybe your Pat & Matt stockpile will come good and your can decorate your house with monitors.

I think you people are going to finally make me install and play Tomb Raider ;).

I bought it for $5 last winter and it was a ton of fun. Mind you, the only other TR game I had played was Legends so I didn't come into it with any preconceived notions as to what makes a tomb raider game. The game sort of reminded me (and I admit that this is a bit reductive but whatever) of a mishmash of uncharted with RE4, with some transversal, a ton of shooting, and an upgrade/xp system in place.

I know the game gets a bunch of hate but i loved it. And it looks soooooo gooooddd. I played it maxed out minus the hair physics nonsense (looks kinda wrong anyway) at 720p on my aging gaming laptop and my god there were times that it just looked ridiculous.

50 copies of Pat & Mat selling for 50 keys each. That's the dream.
