If I invite you into my home and you began talking garbage, me asking you to leave is not censorship. Suggesting that I have to accept that you can do whatever you want in my home is suggesting that you have the right to impede my own right of expression, which is in itself a form of censorship.
This is a message board. It is not your home. People come here to talk, to chat, to share. Here's a game forum! Talk about gaming related stuff here! Except these stuff you're not allowed to talk about because we don't like it. Can't even disagree with it. Its still censorship. It might help foster a better climate, but its still censorship.
As a man who apparently wants to drink tears, I hope you can appreciate me getting a good jolly getting "codescending PCmustardrace" out of you. You have no idea where my allegiances are.
And maybe if you stopped being so condescending maybe people would actually know what you're talking about. I still have no idea what tears I'm supposed to be drinking. Do you even know what me drinking tears mean? It means you got butthurt and I'm enjoying your meltdown.
Agree on that Hatred game. It does seem pretty inconsistent, policy-wise, but what can you do?
Maybe we could, you know, talk about it. Except no we can't, even though its an intellectial debate worth having, at least in my opinion. Maybe that's censorship?
I am. I wouldn't come here if there was porn and the forum would not be in the position it is in if it openly embraced those kinds of topics.
Stop shifting the goalposts. You went from talking about general censored topics, to piracy allegations, and now to pornography. We weren't even talking about pornography. Its not relevant to the forum, but games are. I just talked about hatred, and you agreed with my opinion. Why would talking about inconsistent policy be a bad thing?
We agree there. But it seems you're taking offense to the next logical step: me expressing unhappiness about your unhappiness.
We're disagreeing with each other, and that's fine. I'm unhappy about the policy, you're happy about the policy. Why would you even be unhappy that I'm unhappy? Why would you even care? Why can't you just simply agree to disagree?
Maybe I've missed where I'm on a high horse, but I'm reiterating the policy of the forum we are currently having this discussion on.
I haven't even weighed in on what my own personal opinions regarding piracy are, but that doesn't stop you from supposing my positions. Not to mention that this discussion about freedom of speech was established under the most tenuous of grasps, a person using a post by Grief lamenting that this isn't the best place for technology discussion to suggest the moderation needs a schooling on freedom.
No. The policy of the forum is that there are these rules. I'm saying they're censorship. You're saying they're not. You have no need to reiterate the forum policy. I know the forum policy. I'm calling it out as censorship. You disagree. That's not forum policy. That's 2 people's opinions. You're elevating your personal opinion on forum policy as forum policy.
And you're not helping the discussion by waxing about rom collections when you're the one who brought it up. It can clearly be inferred to be a statement about piracy and that you don't agree with emulation. Maybe this misunderstanding (I presume) wouldn't have happened if you stopped bringing up tangential topics without elaborating on them?
We're really derailing the thread, so I'll agree to disagree. For what its worth, I still like the community here. I follow evilore's policy. I'm not happy about it, but I follow it. And in the end that's what counts.
