Thank you very much :)

With their recent screw ups on preorders make sure you have enough to cover it 7 times! I rarely order anything from them these days but they do have a habit of taking payment super early but despite saying your item has dispatched they hold on to it until the very last moment before handing it over to Royal Mail/what ever courier they use.

The status of my delivery hasn't change since Sunday. It's still at "Information transmitted, no shipment available now". I guess it is really arriving on 16 of October, sadly.

new pop up in desktop mode if it detects a steam controller:

That's ok, but I'd rather have a desktop mode interface :p

I like big pic but I really have no use for it at my PC so for me it's kind of a bummer if it's made for it. Hopefully they sort it out so it has full support for normal steam as well.

Yeah this is a running problem. I'm sure a lot of people will want to also use the controller with a desktop, and thus want the UI to work in the normal client view. They probably will have a UI for that, but likely don't have enough people to do it right now

Final verdict on the Steam Controller by the way: it's absolutely excellent and very easy to support. It's exactly the thing it wants to be

Ok, looks like Steam controller needs a firmware upgrade and you can’t upgrade on a Mac. Nothing works outside Big Picture UI.

conflicted about #steamcontroller and #semispheres - best control scheme is use both touch pads which feels like virtual joysticks on mobile

My tracking hasn't changed, it looks like they're just printing the shipping labels in preparation for sending them out. Typically a shipping label doesn't get printed until shortly before dispatch, but this is Valve's first hardware product, I suppose.

Are you some kind of connectivity God? That is amazing

Such is the power of the pc platform. I now have the start and back buttons of the steam controller mapped to win + ran with autohotkey do I can switch between the systems with a button press

I love all the work Krejlooc has put into this. The Steam Controller looks boss.

I'm all for friendly competition of this controller too, especially regarding ultimate PC controller territory.

The push MS is doing for Windows 10 has got me excited, especially if MS wants a piece of the PC pie.

XB1 Elite is going up against the Steam Controller for the throne. Since a huge perk of the Steam Controller is customization.

Let's go!

Ha. Just to clarify, I dont work for valve.

I preordered a xbox one wireless dongle yesterday, too. I've actually been trying to see how the xbox controllers and steam controllers play well together. A few nights ago, my friends and I tried double dragon neon with one person using a 360 controller and one person using a steam controller and they didnt work at the same time, but since then I have been unable to recreate the error.

I am so stoked that the pc finally has so many controller optipns. I plan on picking up an elite xbox one controller, too.

The blogger also had that issue:

When the overlay does work, getting out of it usually means the controller stops working all together for a second or two, and finally, the controller does not play well with other Xbox 360 controllers. Have not been able to get the Steam controller and a wired 360 controller both working at the same time, though it does work well with a PS4 game for those games that support it.

There is a lot of potential key binding editing and tweaking going on. How will that work if you use the controller solely with a steam link (which I will)? And I'm going to have to force steam into big picture mode to use it? Ugh.

you don't have to use BPM to use the steam controller, only to configure the controller. If you launch a game from the desktop client and already have a controller binding saved, it'll use that binding.

The steam link always uses BPM.

You have to use Big Picture Mode to configure it, yes. Once you are happy with a given setting you don't need BPM anymore.

The steam link always uses BPM.

I didn't know that.

Thanks. I hope to use the steam link a lot, but will also use the PC a lot (likely with a 360 controller or kb&m) and would prefer that in desktop mode. Will steam link force BPM and revert back to desktop when you quit or will it stay stuck in BPM? Also slightly wary as my monitor is 21:9 but my tv is 16:9. Hope I can switch between the two without lots of messing around,

Gonna livestream a bit tonight. I'm down to try any title on steam. Any single game. Open to suggestions.

Sunless Sea is something I'd play a lot with the controller but it would be boring as shit to stream since it is mostly text based. Curious to see something like one of the Starcraft 2 campaigns; I'd imagine the dual trackpads as a mouse might be best there. Dark Souls would be interesting to see if you were previously good at it with a controller.

Actually.. yeah, anything which you'd consider yourself very good at with either a controller or mouse and keyboard, and just see if you can meet your own expectations
