Not entirely sure if this is the right thread but it seems more active than the other one.

I was wondering if anyone have been able to put down an order for this recently?
I'm trying to place an order but it keeps saying insufficient funds or something like that.
Tried through steam and through the web browser, and different payment options.

Thanks!

If this happens with other products like games as well, it probably means that there was an issue during the first transaction you made. Steam basically blocks further transactions for security reasons until after a cool off period. If you leave it for a couple of hours, it should return to letting you purchase as normal. I had a similar issue and contacted support about it, but the issue resolved itself before they responded a day later, haha.

Yep, I did. The first time I did it said: "An unexpected error has occurred. The purchase didn't go through. Please contact Steam support" (freely translated from Danish). It worked the second time.

Well, in the Witcher stream 8bit mapped the shift mouse (it's when you stop using the mouse as the camera and use it to the pick magic etc on the left) as the gyro and he accessed it through a modifier. So, I guess it could work, but I don't know how's it handled in GTA V. When you enter a vehicle it switches to different controls?

it was in this stream, can't say where because I use livestreamer, but you'll find it. When you use a modifer you have to hold that down though.

I was thinking more along to line of just having a toggle button that changes the profile or whatever so that now gyro controls analog left+right. That would be sweet, just enter a car, hit a button and steer with the motion control.

I don't know about toggles but I do know that is possible to use a modifier to kick in the gyro, like holding a button.

That's what modifers do, but you have to hold it down.

Really interested in how one would play an RTS like company of heroes with this. Map every hotkey on this controller, baby.

Anything that doesn't require extremely fast movements (like, say, Starcraft multiplayer) should play just fine, although the use of modifiers will probably be necessary.

Wondering how the controller would cope with something like X Wing or Tie Fighter games.

I'm more interested in Freespace 2 myself. There are enough buttons on the controller, there shouldn't be any problems.

Regarding steam streaming (with the new Link or on another computer).

I have my PC upstairs and want to be able to play games on the TV in the lounge downstairs, or on my laptop. Streaming works great, but only if the monitor on the PC upstairs is turned on.

If it's turned off (why would I want it on?) then steam only streams in 1024x768 as Windows thinks there are no available resolutions. I purchased a HDMI dummy off Ebay but now windows thinks it's a 2nd monitor and it doesn't seem to work any better.

It seems like a pretty simple issue that not many people are complaining about. Anyone have a solution?

oh my god, I wound up playing besiege all night. I had never heard of it before last night. That game is hilarious and so much fun. It's perfect for the steam controller. Playing a game like that would be impossible with a normal controller.

Is it just my inability to find it or are there still no impressions of Homeworld on the Steam controller? Hopefully someone gives it a shot sooner or later. I'd like to have an idea what I'm getting into in a couple weeks!

Curious...if I were to stream Xbox One games through W10's Xbox App, could I use the controller? I wouldn't mind giving Halo 5 a shot with this thing.

My flight stick/racing wheel/arcade controller/gaming accessory doesn’t work

At this time, we do not support any controllers other than official Xbox One and Xbox 360 controllers.

You could probably set the controller to act as a 360 pad via xinput and emulating the right stick, but you lose all of the functionality and advantages of the controller anyway. For example you're not going to be able to use trackball emulation if there is no mouse support (which xinput and the XB1 console games don't support anyway)

I need to give one of these a try to see if it'll fit my teeny hands. Could always exponentially grow my right thumbnail to hit the X button I suppose.

I don't think that's what this controller is for.

Yeah I figured, I'm buying one for the actual purpose it was created for anyways so it's not like I'm sitting here hoping it would work for that. I was just curious how the right touchpad would perform as an analog still replacement but yeah sounds like it wouldn't really provide anything worthwhile.

I basically use my Xbox as an extension of my PC thanks to the streaming function, so the less having to switch between controllers the better.

Do we have any idea when Canadian orders from EB Games will go out? No email yet and it releases in like six days.

Why use emulated analog stick on the trackpad instead of mouse look? Seems like such a waste when you have something capable of absolute positioning to have to slowly pan over places instead of just quickly look wherever you want in an instant.

Eh, I can see why some might prefer that type of movement. It's smoother in motion if your framerate is not high, so if you're hovering at 30something fps then analog emulation is not a bad solution.

Not liking these videos. I want to see control schemes where everything is bound so you never have to lift your thumbs off the pads. Analogue stick and abxy should only be bound to menial inventory tasks.

I do agree with this. Gotta utilize those pads to the fullest extent.

Many people who are used to traditional controllers are hesitant to try the new control method because it seems alien to them. For them, testing the controller with a control scheme that resembles a traditional gamepad is useful as it shows them that they won't have to immediately step out of their comfort zone.

I won't know till I have it in my hands, but I think I am going to use the LB as a modifier, that will knock the available 5 rear buttons up to 10 different uses.

All about keeping my hands on the right pad.

I was pretty disappointed when I watched trial by game using the A button to jump and B to boost in Rocket League.

They are crutches, dive in the deep end and show us what the controller is capable of.

So the right trackpad is actually going to have the potential to play as well at 30 fps as a stick after all?

Personally I'm going to be using the right pad as a combination five button cluster (center + four directions) with the paddles as modifiers to those to handle all the skills. I think this is going to be a great start overall, as it leaves every other trigger open for use without moving your hands. Should work great.

The touchpad can be a 5-way input? It looked like only 4-way to me in videos.

You can click it in. So, you could have 4-way directions with touch and then a plus input with click.

Though he meant 5 buttons, assuming he wants to click all of them. That would be tricky. If you make the 4 only register on click, it couldn't separate a 5th input from them. Only if it's something like shift, then you could have shift+1, shift+2 etc on the pad.

With my current setup I don't need a controller for m/kb games I'm more interested in how keeping both thumbs on pads works with controller games. I remember playing Halo on the bumper jumper settings which meant I rarely had to take my thumbs off the analogs it felt so much better. In theory never losing control of the camera and movement sounds amazing and Valve has said the intention is for it to work this way. It's a shame the videos and control settings that are out there rely too much on the buttons or stick.
