Mine is coming on the thirteenth of October. It's already at the FedEx place.

Not quite. It's not in FedEx's hands until it's scanned in. Check the travel history, it just says shipment information was sent to them.

I wouldn't expect anything close to an update until Monday onward.

If you ordered via their website, test this - go to your order, and click on the Steam Controller item. If it leads you to an error page, that should mean you are in the Oct 16th group, since they have now removed the listing for that item. If you click it and it takes you to the Steam Controller page with the 10th November delivery date, you'll be in the later group.

It can come close, but it won't be as accurate as a kb/m if you had the most skilled player for each. That's just the way it is when you have the access to so many keys and more ways to articulate a mouse / keyboard. That certainly isn't a slant towards the controller though. It's looking like pretty much the better "jack of all trades" controller solution thus far and comparable to a mouse / keyboard in terms of accuracy. It won't be perfect though, nothing is

Thanks, i get the error page "another castle" but I still don't have any shipping update. Is that the same for everyone else who ordered from game?

Now that many of you are going to get the controller I wish I could have a chance of trying it first but to be honest I don't think I'll be in such luck.

I can't see a single retailer in here having one in display/testing purposes connected to a PC as our PC market in here is very small. At least we got some Steam money cards on the shelves since last year, which is good. Either way, will be checking for some feedback from you all my good people so keep us posted!

Yeah same situation. Since the delivery is likely first class royal mail, they'll probably send them out on Tuesday so they reach everyone for the 16th

collusion I say! :p

also, 8bit was streaming: http://www.twitch.tv/8bitcerberus/v/20167362

10/10/2015 - Should be down for some more Steam Controller playtesting tonight. Latest Steam BPM beta updates fixed the analog problems with Batman and Dark Souls introduced on the 10/05 update/stream. I may do a quick update on those two tonight. Otherwise not 100% sure what's on the docket yet, but I have wanted to do some emulators, and Valve have added their own developer templates for Portal 2 with some interesting settings that don't appear to be available unless the controller API has been added to the game. And I eventually want to do Dota 2, probably on it's own stream, but a new beta BPM bug has cropped up since 10/07 preventing mode shifts from being set or activated, so that won't be ideal until that bug is resolved.

Everyone with the "label created" status, are you in the NA? Mine says "shipping soon" and I'm pretty sure I ordered it on the first day or second through Steam.

Just a thought, can the scroll wheel functionality be applied to the outer ring of one of the pads, while the rest of the pad acts a dpad / button pad or whatever?

That would be handy

I pre-ordered it from Gamestop (Canada) when it was first available. Hopefully they don't screw it up and they have it in for me on the 16th.

I'm NA and have that status. I ordered on the first day along with the Steam Link and both are in the "label created" state. The FedEx site says estimated arrival is 10/13, but this seems to be misleading as it assumes the item is shipped soon after the label was printed. If you check the order in your Steam account, you'll probably find that it says the estimated ship date isn't until at least 10/16.

I see 8bit has uploaded his archives on YT: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCg7lJ5KURwEMnQdbe-cMbAQ

the latest one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SW5UED_4zPk

has DS, Metroid Prime, Super Mario World and Skullgirls

Ah, Metroid Prime.
How I wish you would receive a true HD Remaster with updated modern FPS controls....

The strafing / auto-lock mechanics just work against each other in-game. Would love to see if the Steam Controller find a way around this difficulty, but its hard to make a game work against its original control design.

Mine still says "Shipping Soon" as well. Ordered the first day as well. I'd like to get it by the end of next week.

I personally would love it if they just updated the remote control options to the same standard as every other Wii FPS. The Conduit really made detailed customization standard just a few months before MPT released, which is a shame. If the Trilogy had released just a little later, they probably would have taken notice of how successful those options were and incorporated them just like every other FPS did.

The turning and cursor speed is the only major problem I have with the game as it is now. The dead zone is super precise and unforgiving, but the turning speeds are sluggish as hell and the cursor feels really lethargic. It's an odd combination of fast and slow.

Either way, I wouldn't want to emulate the Wii version with the Steam pad. Dealing with the dead zone turning on a trackpad sounds really awful. It's Wii remote or nothing. if you really want to use the Steam pad, you're better off emulating the GC version, single stick and all.

I have been looking for an awesome new way to control games. I really hope this is it. It just looks horrible to me, but I have to try it.

Looks like there will be a site for the controller later. Not sure if it will be anything meaningful or just a redirect to the support site

Mine is supposed to be here on Tuesday, but it's still stuck at "label created" when anticipated ship date was Thursday.

No idea what's going on at this point.

Yeah, that's the same situation I'm at. Ordered the first day, in the US, and its slated to have shipped already on the 9th and arrive the 13th, yet its only at the "Label created" state.

I'm guessing it probably won't ship until around the 16th maybe, since like you said, that's what shows up as the estimated ship date on your Steam account.

Until anyone gets a message that their controller has been dispatched to their address, I don't think there is much point getting worked up about it. Sounds more like they got "shipped" to the courier, and they are waiting to send them so they reach people at the right time

I'm hoping to score the steam tv pick along with my preordered controller. Usually Gamestop releases preorders a week after so I'll be prowling GS looking for poor souls that waited too long to pick up the puck!

It looks like Valve may have made a mistake putting two touchpads on the device. It enables thumb typing, which is great, but everyone appears to prefer the analog stick for gameplay.

The two touchpads are useful for mouse-driven games, you can use both for mouse movement and cover large distances on screen easily. It also enables left-handed people to use the controller. But other than that I do agree that at the moment it may seem a bit redundant. It's possible that we'll gain a beter understanding of its possible importance once developees start using the controller in native mode.

In other news, Trial By Game uploaded some TF2 footage:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=isKvabrRo5w

He's pretty terrible at this game (sorry Chris :D) but the interesting thing about this is that the game defaults to a new template, "Gamepad with High Precision Camera/Aim". I'm not sure if the right touchpad was in mouse or trackball mode.

Which is why the put the left analog stick back in. There wasn't any sticks to begin with during development. I anticipate it was some sort of compromise.

I've been writing this off but now I kind of want to try it. Maybe a Black Friday sale will entice me to grab one. Any word on gaming kiosks with this thing?

8-bit Cerberus has a Youtube channel as well, can't remember if it has been posted. He has uploaded about 10 hours of Steam Controller footage with a nice variety of games. Well worth checking out. It's the stuff he streamed on Twitch so if you missed that they are available. I especially like the video where he tests Diablo 3 and the Witcher 1, as these are both games designed for the mouse.

I'm a little concerned about not receiving a shipping email yet. Ordered it in June and it even says "Shipping Soon" in my Steam account details. I'm just crossing my fingers it shows up at my door on or before Friday.

I'm in the same damn boat. I'm just hoping it arrives on time.

I watched for a few minutes. At one point he dies ten consecutive times within three seconds of spawning in, usually getting shot at immediately after the spawn-in. What is up with Star Wars: Battlefront.

Angry Joe was complaining about the spawn points as well. It seems to be a problem.

Just checked out the beginning of the stream and Valve's official bindings for Portal 2 weren't working.

They also changed the trigger settings a bit. Renamed trigger click to full pull and treshold to soft pull.

Mine is still sitting in the Netherlands for some reason (I'm in Austria). When I click on the "track your thing" it says "Information transmitted, no shipment available now"
That doesn't sound good :/

It just hit me; with controller and link arriving soon, this is going to feel a little bit like getting a new console (something I haven't experienced in a while). Sitting in the living room, getting to grips with an unfamiliar controller again. Excitement rising.

Also Battlefront only worked properly when using WASD + mouse mode. In gamepad + mouse mode he felt the mouse was more laggy, less responsive, like the joystick was fighting the mouse, like in Arkham.

Yeah, mine too. Since 27th of September. Chances of it arriving on 16th are starting to get lower.

GAME UK support chat confirmed that the pre-orders due in October will be shipped out before Friday on next day DPD delivery.

Believe it when I see it, fingers crossed.

There are so many permutations to the controller setup that would make playing with it as a standard controller better or worse. Some people have had good experiences with games like Witcher 3, Dark Souls and dpad style platformers that it is clear it can work very well with the right settings. But that is also the problem. It will take a while for community bindings to accumulate and settle on the most liked control scheme.

It can't really be a "mistake putting two touch pads on the device" when they are currently one of the only interfaces that will let you play PC mouse and keyboard centric games in such a small form factor. Of course if you only want to play console style controller based games on PC, don't wish to attempt anything outside of analogue sticks, and have no need to be able to customise that controller and have access to more inputs - then any traditional dual analogue stick controller is the way to go for you. If you want to play the majority of PC games it's either a mouse and keyboard / the Steam Controller thus far

Says Royal Mail first class for me, which isn't really much of a guarantee it will arrive on the release date. Hopefully they have a good solution to get it to people on time. I haven't used GAME UKs online service since 2005 perhaps

Anyone else still not get any type of shipping confirmation? I ordered mine back in June, I believe, well within the early release window, but have still yet to receive an email.

thanks for the laugh
can a mouse and keyboard snob give me an idea if this will be decent for single player FPS/TPS? the kind of game that is agonising to play with thumbsticks but is too much of a cinematic formality to really be worth sitting at a desk with a mouse and keyboard for?
