Well, it's a slider, you'll only able to set up how big or small the deadzone is starting from the center. So, you can set it up so the center doesn't take in input. You can see the slider in this vid, at 16s. If you want to rest it outside of the center, I don't know. Maybe if you mess with the outer ring shown here? If you don assign anything to it, maybe it won't take any input or it will just default to x direction?

What I want to know, is if you can set the Deadzone to be a separate input. That would give you a five button switch.

The deadzone is an area where you don't want it to take touch input. You can have overlapping 4-ways with either touch or click, you can click the pad or double tap it.

Mine now has tracking info for the controller and the link. Shows Wednesday as the date, but only set to label created. The order on Steam shows a shipping estimate date of Saturday, though.

I can't wait!
Shipping Status: Shipment Prepared
Estimated Shipping Date: Oct 16, 2015
Both Steam Controller and Steam Link have the same dates. The shipping information doesn't say anything other than "Shipping label has been created. The status will be updated when shipment begins to travel." and:
10/07/2015 - Wednesday
6:40 pm Shipment information sent to FedEx
They both appear to be 2lbs each? I thought the link would be a lot lighter. (This could be to make shipping easier with tons of packages though.)
I ordered on 6/4, and live in the western US.
Edit: Adding when I ordered, and roughly where I live.

Ordered on June 4th still no shipping update or even a confirmation.

Edit: just went back a few pages, a lot of people in the same boat. Sucks.

2nd edit: just got my email. Oct 16th is estimated shipping date.

I suppose I should mention how I mean this:

What I would like to set up, for one specific game, (Guild Wars 2, an MMO), is a control scheme where the right trackpad is both a 5 way Dpad, and a mouse cursor. Such that, dragging your finger across the pad moves the mouse, and then clicking it in will also activate actions corresponding to different directions. Such that Up, Down, Left, Right, and Center are all actions, when clicked in. This would allow you to have five actions, AND a mouse, all on the trackpad, and I believe it would work fairly well, in the context of this specific game. In doing so, this would allow me to navigate the mouse whenever it's more useful to do that, and then have it act as my skills when THAT is more useful.

That's not going to work. In this scenario you can set up the pad as a mouse and have it have a click action or you can set it up as a d-pad/button cluster, where you either click to have the 4 functions or swipe. In the former case there's no separate center click. It would combine your click action with the position your thumb is in. So if it's shift, then it could be shift+1, shift+2 etc. The only way you could combine the two is if you modeshift the right pad. On default it would be a mouse with a click or double tap for 1 skill, and you can turn it into a d-pad/button cluster for your 4 other skills.

This is what one of the testers set up for GW2 without modeshift:

Has anyone that ordered the link + controller had a shipping update? I'm assuming that is why mine still just says "Shipping Soon" even though I ordered day 1.

Edit: Nevermind, it looks like some have. GG Valve.

I understand now, this is really great. Thank you for being so helpful!

That's annoying. My method would have allowed me to set it up such that in combat, you'd never have to move your fingers off the pads. You'd have your five buttons on the right pad, then left grip for utilities, then right grip for F skills. Is there a way that I can send that idea to Valve? I'd love to have the option for a five way dpad, as well as mouse swiping simultaneously.

Mode shifting would be the most obvious way to do you previous setup while using the same mode shifting input as a modifier so it behaves differently on single press and hold.

That said I haven't found info on mode shifting as a toggle rather than a hold. That is something that would be useful. It might be there for all I know, but I haven't seen anyone do it yet

That's true, but I still need a 5 button dpad. GW2 has 15 skills that you can use at a time, and that's 15 buttons I need on this pad. Not every class has an auto attack (Engineer grenades), so I'd like to set it up such that the 1 Skill isn't separate from every other skill.

My two main games that I'm looking forward to with this is GW2, and Dark Souls, both of which feel like they are JUUUUUUST about perfect. GW2 would be perfect if I could have simultaneous 5way dpad/mouse swiping, and Dark Souls 2 will be perfect, assuming I can configure the in game controls to behave accordingly (I intend to make it such that the menus and controls take full advantage of both mouse and controler styles, so it's... kinda difficult to get the mappings to work well in the menus without compromising).

I'm in the UK - not sure if this is new but I have a Parcel Force reference in my GLS page. Doesn't actually work though.
Nothing at all on mine, just the GLS shipping number provided by Steam with a unique status entry:

Date: 01/10/2015
Time: 17:22
Parcel status: Information transmitted, no shipment available now
GLS Location: Netherlands

This was OK on the first of october, but now we're the 12th and no updates have been done on it....
I'm from the UK, and i'm in the same boat as you guys.
If i don't hear anything by tomorrow evening, i'm going to start to worry.

Ordered on June 4th still no shipping update or even a confirmation.

Edit: just went back a few pages, a lot of people in the same boat. Sucks.

2nd edit: just got my email. Oct 16th is estimated shipping date.

I also ordered on June 4th and just now received my email confirmation. Seems like it will arrive on Wednesday. Excited!

I ordered both just got my email an hour ago. I'm in Texas, not sure if location means anything.

You could just click on the pad?

Well, we have a Valve dev who probably still occasionally takes a look at this thread. He might see this...or not.

You could just click on the pad?

But that's what I'm saying if he sets the 4 directions to be click-only the pad click won't be its own separate thing. He wants 5 separate clicks.

I agree, this kind of input would be useful and should be added.

Not only 5-way input, but being able to divide touchpads into discrete touch and click modes, basically turning two touchpads into four input tools.

I imagine an FPS configuration where you aim with the right touchpad, then press the center to "Use", press the left side to "Grenade", etc.

Touching the left pad moves, pressing the bottom side toggles crouch, pressing the top side sprints.

Where do you check the status of your order? Is there a link in steam somewhere?

click on your email address in the top right of the steam window. Click on Account details. Click on "View Purchase History". Find the steam controller and click on "View Shipment Details".

You should also have received an email about shipping if it's been prepared.

Do you needed to receive the email about it shipping to get this link or was that always there? I haven't pre-ordered it, so I wouldn't know, but will put this in the OP.

No... That's Steam's regular purchase history page. As long as you preordered it, you'll see it in there on the day it was purchased. Once you click the actual item you should see the transaction details that'll have the tracking number in it.

Received an e-mail from fedex that my controller was tendered to them, with estimated one day shipping from IL to CA. Are the controller resources like the community binding sharing system operational yet?

Ah, I'm just catching up on this. Yeah, clicking down on all 5 wouldn't work. Just have the 4 directions set to a tap instead of a full downpress.

There was one person who has made some of their bindings public, others have set it to pirvate so far. Some games will also have recommended bindigs by Valve or devs themselves.

Ok, thanks.

Keep an eye on your tracking info. Mine is finally in FedEx's hands due for delivery on Thursday.

Just a few hours ago my tracking information updated and is now in FedEx's hands in Carol Stream, as well.

Mine still says Delivery Date of October 13th - but that doesn't make sense, as I'm several states away (WA state). Maybe the arrival time will get updated soon, too.

EDIT: ....and there it is. The arrival date has now been updated. Scheduled to arrive on Friday, October 16th - just as promised by Valve.

Tracking finally updated on mine as others have stated. Surprisingly mine still says expected delivery tomorrow. I am casually optimistic that it will actually arrive tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Edit: Est. Delivery just updated to Oct. 16 (Friday)

Just got my tracking information today and label created and it's sitting in IL. Estimated delivery is 10/14.

Not sure why everyone is freaking out about not getting their information yet, didn't it say it would be shipped by the 16th before?

This is the internet. .... I have the right - nay - DUTY to freak out about small things and demand immediate, unrealistic forms of relief.
