Says Royal Mail first class for me, which isn't really much of a guarantee it will arrive on the release date. Hopefully they have a good solution to get it to people on time. I haven't used GAME UKs online service since 2005 perhaps

Mine too, that said, I'm told by friends they do use DPD for hardware. Who knows with GAME, it will be an interesting end to the week. I'm still regretting the decision to save on postage and order with them instead of direct :(

Also looks like Valve removed a couple of templates and there's only 3 now. WASD + mouse, gamepad + mouse and gamepad.

I've been looking into this. It seems that it changes depending on what inputs the original game was designed for. Several new ones / renamed ones have popped up recently including a "GamePad with High Precision Camera/Aim", which I assume is just fine tuning right trackpad mouse to be a more precise

Yes, that's what I meant with gamepad + mouse.

Damn, ordered the morning they went on sale and still set to "shipping soon." Bummer.

Me too, and I'm pissed. This is horseshit, Valve. What's the point of preordering ASAP if you're going to ship them out of order!

I've seen people who ordered days after me get confirmations.

Ah, I have a controller due on the 16th too. GAME always have Royal Mail on the order page, but anything big or hardware stuff is always sent by courier, either DPD or someone else. I have, unfortunately, used them a lot because they always get stuff I want, so I've had a lot of stuff through via DPD.

My controller finally shipped. Sorry to hear many others who ordered day 1 are still waiting. It's really frustrating when preorders ship in such an illogical order.

Mine still says label created and a delivery date of tomorrow (lol). What kind of shipping is it? Overnight or like a standard type of thing? Not really too upset about it since I'm in New York until weds and won't be home until later this week.

Shipped as in it finally started moving or they created the label? Because the latter is what a lot of people have been reportinh. They get an email saying "your item has shipped" and is "supposed to arrive on the 10th" or "13th", but the item itself isn't moving.

Oh, shoot. The latter. So I should expect the tracking to not update for a while, then?

My guess is that come Tuesday or Wednesday this week we will see our orders move from FedEx and finally make it to our places by Friday. (Based this off the fact that FedEx guessed around 3/4 days for peoples orders when labels were created)

Seems labels were also created by location, (me and another Colorado Gaf user got ours around the same time for example) so, if anyone else hasn't received an email, you should see one today/tomorrow.

I'm just now realizing these controllers will be releasing soon. Is there a reason to believe they won't be in abundant supply in November? I'm interested in both the controller and the link, but I have a question for people more in the know.

My gaming PC is in the bonus room above my garage. I have an 80" HDTV in the living room that I would love to be able to use. With the link box, will this be feasible? Also, when using the link does the controller connect to it, or does it still connect all the way back to your PC?

Before I decide to drop $99, I want to be sure everything would work just fine for what I have in mind.

This would be perfect and just in time for me to play Fallout 4 downstairs on my 80"!

Thanks in advance.

The Link can do exactly that, but Valve strongly recommends a wired connection. I believe ghe Controller connects to the Link and not the PC.

I do not think there will be problems when it comes to supply. But starting this weekend there should be lot of impression coming, so I think you'll have time to decide. It might be great or it might vary a lot, but technically it was created to help with situations like yours. How far are the rooms from each other btw, what's your network setup? I take your idea is to have the PC connect to the router wired/wireless then have that be wireless to the Link? Also, yes according to the store page the link has an internal pairing compatibility with the controller.

Not sure if I'm still getting the controller on time. Original ETA was Oct 13th, but I see no updates since label creation the 7th!

EDIT: Oh seems like I'm not the only one

Yeah, no way its arriving tomorrow at this point. So maybe it will be the 16th after all?

Yeah I didn't order one in time for the early shipment so I'm hoping I can just walk into gamestop or best buy (are they even going to have them?) and pick one up on November 10th

Well I just got the email saying my shipment is being prepared and they gave me a tracking number with FedEx that says I should have my controller by Wednesday! Crisis averted.

Ordered both the link and a controller on 6/4 - still shows as "Shipping Soon". perhaps the link is holding up the order?

Right now I have a weird setup, as the router/modem is in my master bedroom, and my desktop PC is upstairs connected to my internet via WiFi. I'm working on getting a line ran upstairs so I can hard wire my PC.

I would say my living room and gaming PC aren't very far apart at all. 20-30 feet, with a wall in the way.

I'm really excited to read all of these impressions, as well.

Let's say I decide to wait to buy a Steam controller, but still want the link. Can you connect a standard wired 360 controller to it and play games on Steam that offer controller support? Or is it strictly Steam Controller only?

Sorry for the dumb questions.

4. The high resolution of the track pads led to some issues with higher sensitivity, where keeping the thumb in 'resting state' (ie: not trying to do any movement at all, just resting it stationary on the pad) led to some unintentional movement of the crosshair because of how the pad was still picking up micro-movements and the fast sensitivity it was set to. So if you really wanted to hold your crosshair completely still (like if sniping for example) and you use a higher sensitivity, it would probably be best to just remove your thumb from the pad all together so it isn't drifting around by a few pixels. This will be something to get used to.

5. Another issue encountered by other guy (sorry didn't catch your name) was that when pushing in the right trackpad as a button (say to click on menu items) that movement of the clicking in would register as trackpad input as well and move his cursor off the menu item he was intending to click. I think this is another issue related to a higher sensitivity, and lowering it would help so that the click in motion doesn't move the cursor so much. Then you would have to rely on the trackball inertia again so you aren't reswiping so often.

Would tweaking/adding a small deadzone for the track pad fix these two issues? That way minor movement wouldn't impede anything but you'd still get sweeping accuracy.

Yeah, that doesn't sound far, in case though what's going to matter is your bedroom's and living room's distance. So, your PC streams down to your router then it's going to stream up to your livingroom. Wiring is always a good idea. If nothing else, then the host as you plan to do. Valve recently revamped their streaming code to perform better for wireless setups. It's still in beta, I'm seeing some mixed responses, hopefully they can sort it out.

Yeah, it supports others, that's in the OP :p

Supports Steam Controller (sold separately,) Xbox One or 360 Wired Controller, Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows, Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710, or keyboard and mouse

EU Gaffers, am I the only only who has the order SHIPPED for ten days now and my tracking link from GLS and the package hasnt even been dropped to GLS?

This is frustrating, less and less chances to get it by the 16th and somehow VALVe has flagged this as shipped...

Doh. Sorry, but thanks for pointing it out for me!

From the sound of things, I am 100% going to get a steam link and decide on whether or not to jump in with the controller based on impressions from you guys. Thanks again for clarifying everything for me. Has it been confirmed if steam link will be able to stream your desktop completely, or just steam(big picture, etc)? I tried searching, but nothing really confirms it as far as I can find. I can't imagine it being just a direct remote viewing of your desktop, because then you could play any non-steam game from it just as easily.

Is it possible to configure the "radius" of the haptic dpad?

Personally speaking, the indentation in the left touchpad looks too big for my thumb to travel its entire course efficiently.

If it is like the in home Stream we can do today, you'll be streaming everything be it a non steam game or even a video player.

Yes. The whole thing is configurable. You can set the dpad deadzone so small that rocking your thumb in the desired direction is enough to activate it. Set it to whether it's touch only or requires a click to register. The haptics will give you the sensation of when you activate a different direction

I'm in the UK - not sure if this is new but I have a Parcel Force reference in my GLS page. Doesn't actually work though.

The way IHS works right now, it only stream Steam and if your want to stream non-Steam games or apps, you have to add them to your Steam library (so if you add your video player to it, you can stream that as well), but some people managed to get around that and stream their desktop. I think they had to alt+tab on the host, but don't quote me on that. Otherwise there was one report (which I can't find) mentioning that the Link will be able to properly stream other type of media, but no confirmation from Valve. Also, if didn't know, when you stream, your host will get locked. You or others won't be able to do anything else on it, unless you stop the streaming.

You can mess with the deadzone. Configure it to zero or very small and it should take your input right in the middle area.

Nothing at all on mine, just the GLS shipping number provided by Steam with a unique status entry:

Date: 01/10/2015
Time: 17:22
Parcel status: Information transmitted, no shipment available now
GLS Location: Netherlands

This was OK on the first of october, but now we're the 12th and no updates have been done on it....

This was the case for me until today. Now it shows it has started moving. I'd expect the package to arrive on the 16th, hopefully to my nearest post office rather than some ninja delivery knocking on my door.

Just got my shipment notice with delivery for Wednesday.

Too bad the Battlefront beta was this past weekended, I really wanted to try the controller with it and maybe Link as well (if Origin games are playable through it)

Thank you both. Can one set an inner deadzone as well, so that my thumb still has a "safe place" to rest?

Well, it's a slider, you'll only able to set up how big or small the deadzone is starting from the center. So, you can set it up so the center doesn't take in input. You can see the slider in this vid, at 16s. If you want to rest it outside of the center, I don't know. Maybe if you mess with the outer ring shown here? If you don assign anything to it, maybe it won't take any input or it will just default to x direction?
