What game are you all going to try out when it's out? I'm going for Dark Souls, myself. Maybe Portal 2 after to see how the trackpad stuff works.

I'll be going for games that won't tax the pad much. Since no longer wanting to sit in front of a PC all day and all night, switching to lounge gaming on console a few years back, I've really missed things like Civ 5, Divinity, Football Manager, Skylines.

So whilst it's not the best 'test' in the world of the new gizmo, I will most likely be playing Civ 5 all night :)

I'm gonna try old PC ports that didn't have joypad support like Shadow Man, Legacy of Kain games and Rune Classic. Afterwards I'll try games that weren't made for a controller at all that I'd like to experience in the living room: Thief games, System Shock 2, Pillars of Eternity, Endless Space.

I can't imagine the Steam Controller will end up replacing my Xinput joypads, but I'll be very happy with my purchase if either of the top categories end up working in a satisfactory manner. And as long as the Steam Controller doesn't impact Xinput support negatively, which is something nobody is talking about that could end up becoming an issue..

Argh, my shipping information still sits at:

Information transmitted, no shipment available now

It's been that way since October 2nd - I ordered within the first hour of them getting online, still hope that I get them by Friday.
Anyone from Germany having the same Problem?

I live in Austria and mine is still like this since September 27th. And in Steam account it is in "Shipment prepared". It's agonizing. It's less and less probable that it will arrive even on 16th .

Overwatch Beta when Blizzard grants me access this Wednesday
if only

I really want to try out games like Undertale, Tales of Zesteria, The Street Fighter V beta, Witcher 3 and Civ 5. All of these I will try though the link as well, so I can test how well that works, too.

Yep, I don't think I'll be able try it out this weekend either... :(

I will try MGSV and Rocket League first. After that I'll give Grim Fandango a go and maybe I'll try something most likely not worthwhile like AoE II.

I mostly want to try few things first: grand strategy games like EU IV and CK II, plus some AOE II and Cities:Skyline and then some shooters, to see if it can be a good replacement for Kb+mouse.

EUIV/CKII are going to be great tests. If there's a negligible difference in speed, I'll be playing on the TV with the hi-fi on 12 hours a day.

I am going for:

F.E.A.R
Crysis
System shock 2
Papers please
Undertale
Condemned
Battlefield bad company 2
Stalker

Will only be able to play really low end games until I have built up my PC again.

Well I am officially concerned for my Link/Controller order. It hasn't moved from "Shipping Soon". I guess my next hope is that it will ship on the 16th and arrive sometime next week. Kind of weird since I placed my order within the first hour or two of it popping up on steam.

As far as what I'm wanting to play with the controller - I've been putting off Mad Max and Witcher 3 that I've already started as my first games with it.

I also want to check out some classic games and Rocket League.

Does anyone have any idea what the sound quality / options will be for Steam Link? I can't seem to find that information anywhere. I'd be beyond bummed (and probably wouldn't buy one) if it's only stereo or something lame like that.

I think I've said this before, but I am thoroughly expecting this next month to basically be an early access beta for the controller till it launches proper in November 10th

Yeah, but hopefully early adopters will put up with that otherwise it's going to lead to pretty bad word of mouth. Valve should be clear with this.

It's stereo. That's what IHS currently supports. Valve haven't exactly been on the front when it comes to audio, that's why there are also no audio jacks on either HW.

Definitely going to try these:
Diablo 3 RoS
Borderlands 2/Pre-Sequel
Audiosurf 2 (should be a great use of the touchpads)
Beat Hazard Ultra
Black Mesa

Thank you, that was fast! I'm really not feeling the Steam Link now after just dropping $1k to upgrade my 7.1 setup. I was really excited to play PC games on the new audio setup, (different floor from my PC) I even bought a powerline adapter to get the wired network squared away.

This is partially the reason why I am intending to work the other way around, building a lounge PC since I'll have the sound setup there and likely spend a lot of my gaming that way, and then using a Steam Link anywhere else.

If I could hook my PC up to my TV and then run a Steam Link to a monitor, m+kb, and headphones I would actually be down with that, but alas, no audio out on the Link either.

Actually, I guess not. CS:GO over Steam Link would not work out. Especially since I'm accustomed to 144fps as it is now.

Yeah, that's the argument against that direction. Going locally is the only way to go for those kind of games

My controller arrived, but it's at my forwarding address in the US and that's gonna take a few extra days for it to get to me :(

Watching the footage in this thread has made me very cognizant of how conventional control schemes make you constantly switch your thumb between the diamond buttons and the right stick.

I tried the Transformers game and it's immediately the same: walk a little, jump, push the right stick, jump, push the right stick again. The Steam Controller's grip buttons and trigger clicks are going to help a lot with this.

I have no doubt that the Xbox Two and the PS5 controllers will be reinvented with concepts that build upon the Steam Controller.

Yeah, when 8bit streamed Battlefront, it was after I told him to to use the dual stage functions he put ADS and fire on one trigger and melee and grenade on the other. Before that he was wondering what would be the easiest binding for him. Same gor for Woodsie and Trial when talking about DS and sprinting and how they could have bind that to the grip. Habits are strong.

That is very smart, and I could see that working for a lot of mainstream FPS titles. I just wished he would have mapped movement to the left pad instead of the stick. My hand was hurting watching him reach over with his thumb for hours!

I have finally been moved out of "Shipping Soon" to:
Shipping Status: Shipment Prepared
Estimated Shipping Date: Oct 16, 2015

I am happy! Praise be to overlord Gaben.

Yep, the same!

I cancelled my order a while back. I felt dirty giving GAME money, and I thought I'd play it safe and let others take it for a test run.
