STEAM | December 2014 - Read OP for winter sale questions

When Steam has internally scheduled a game update to be queued some time in the future, the UI will now display a note to the user indicating that time

What? So games not updating until I click the button wasn't a bug?

I already finished one game I picked during this sale, mindblowing I know!
it was very short too
Season Match 2, in all honesty I can't recommend, even if you like match three games with twists into different genres and short ones, I just can't.
You know how there are series that gets better with each installment and series that gets worse. Season match seems nosediving after first one. The bright side: these were cheap and not particularly long, The dark side: I think I'm done with them more or less, or they can prove me wrong and make a better game, still appreciated card prices a lot.

When Steam has internally scheduled a game update to be queued some time in the future, the UI will now display a note to the user indicating that time
Fixed errors in web views not localizing properly

Big Picture

Fixed to ask the user if they'd like to launch immediately or begin updating the game if an update is available but the game has been played recently
When running in 720p mode scale embedded web views so they are readable
Fixed EULA display occasionally failing to display
Revised navigation on profile menu

That's why I saw a "Watch" Button on someone's profile.

Didn't expect that turning off v-sync in Dead Space would have that much of a impact on fps.

all 3 dead space games lock to 30 when selecting vsync. you need to either enable triple buffering outside of the game or use borderless windowed mode if available. I know that borderless is an option with DS3 but i have no idea if it's in 1 and 2

Ha, I got that beat with two hidden objects games.

And I once wanted to buy Season Match 1 & 2 only because of their extremely high card prices. Common sense prevailed.

I never can beat you at anything lately
or ever (><)
how did you manage that?! Not that they are short games, if we are talking about Artifex Mundi games.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I can finally watch Jase idle for cards!

Interesting thought, I wonder what happens when Steam thinks you're in-game using IdleMaster and someone requests to watch?

Also, remember to follow these official content guidelines. These things are not allowed:

Well something odd happened this sale, short of a couple of gifts and two off Steam purchases I didn't buy a thing, not even a -90% off Bit Trip game. I think I might be ill or something as that's a first in 4 years. Still did a lot of window shopping for the Winter Seal when I might not have gone crazy and spent a small fortune on stuff I don't need and crimbo pressents just beforehand.

Though it was hard resisting Endless Legend. Been checking out Ampletude's site and forums as well as some of the vids they have up on YouTube and my word does it look good. Love the way the map looks almost sculped and how it animates when zooming in and out but that's the tip of the iceberg from a visual point of view as the art direction throughout looks amazing. On the gameplay front it certainly looks to have taken the 4x formula and added some intresting quirks to the 8 factions, how they play, with different attributes, units and win conditions that seem to be lore based as well. Plus the winter concept seems like something fresh and a spin on some other event based mechanics from stuff like Sim City and such. From reading a few impressions and reviews the only common occuring damp spot seems to be the combat but from what I've seen it looks not too shabby and there seems to be plans to refine and smooth out the gameplay in future patches from community feedback.

So taking the above in mind and to add a spin on Shackles' suggestion what game did you most wish you pulled the trigger on but decided to hold out for?

Pretty awesome and pretty creepy.

Seemed creepy to me until I saw the privacy settings. I'd actually prefer it if we could set it on a game-by-game basis as well, but I like the options that are there.

- Only friends that I invite
- Friends can request to watch my games
- Friends can watch my games
- Anyone can watch my games

The part I'm curious about is the bandwidth usage, actually, for both sides.

Not a mod, just a bot.
This is a scheduled automated repost on behalf of Nzyme32, who is running this raffle.

Viking is a fun game but man is the port bad. Not like "doesn't do 144hz 4k bad" like I had to remap my controller functions every single time I restarted the game bad. Like the fps cap didn't matter because half the time it would drop to 20 fps anyway bad.

Well something odd happened this sale, short of a couple of gifts and two off Steam purchases I didn't buy a thing, not even a -90% off Bit Trip game. Endless Legend is great, definitely pick it up in the winter sale. And I almost bought South Park and Transistor, but I've waited this long so I may as well hold out. Plus a purchase over $10 in the winter sale usually has some sort of additional benefit.

How about an alternative to sales lists, and something that sparks more constructive conversation?

What game did you pick up during the sale that you are most looking forward to playing, and why? If you've already played it some, what are you initial impressions of the game?

Castlevania Lords of shadow, fucking amazing, played 10 hours already, its hard to let the hands of the controller. Great combat system, amazing pacing, great graphics, more than decent story. Easily one of my best purchases and one of the best (if not the best) game si played this year. And i am not even through the first half of the game, awww yeahh!!
I am looking forward to play batman arhkam origins and dark souls that i also bought in this sale.

this system is so weird

like why do you have to invite people individually instead of just sending them a link or something

(if anyone wants to watch me play shadow warrior and help me test ping i'd appreciate)

I kept wanting to stream my dark souls 1 playthrough to my friend a couple of months ago but didnt want to mess with twitch and all of that nonsense. If this works as easy as it says it does, it could be really cool.

New humble SEGA bundle games
  • Sonic Generations
  • Viking

hmm, I've been keeping an eye on this bundle hoping they'd repeat alpha protocol (after the humble bundle site screwed up and allowed me to gift the copy that I had attached to my steam account, leading to it being removed from my steam account instead of coming up as an already used one for the giftee) but that Viking game has my interest, despite the luke warm reviews.

I need to get back to Lords of Shadow myself - I'm about half way(?) through and found it really enjoyable. Patrick Stewart is phenomenal in this.
