And that is a dangerous game.

So I'm trying to play this Rogue Legacy game, but it seems to think I'm always holding down. So when I'm on a platform, jumping makes me fall. With keyboard or with a controller! I can't progress at all in the game being unable to jump from one platform upwards, but only downwards.. anyone experience this?

So I've been warned off of buying Company of Heroes II, when it was 20$, by a friend who was a giant CoH nut. He complained that they made the game grindy with all of its microtransactions and DLC, an opinion which seems mirrored in a lot of user reviews.

Got my problem fixed, somehow the analog was stuck (yet not) and once I moved it some it seems to have fixed the Rogue Legacy problem. I never use the analog so didn't think to bother. Weird..

If you want to start from the beginning, get I & II. Neither choice is wrong though. Also consider Ys Origin for $5.
