Does anybody know whether the Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader games in the 'Stronghold Collection' are the patched HD versions? I see you can buy those seperately but I was wondering if the ones in the collection were different. Cheers.

I have this and have yet to boot it up... What do you think makes it stand apart from other shooters currently?

Basically its a perfect middle ground between the realism of ARMA and the accessibility of CoD. Before I knew it my playtime had crossed 50 hours without me even realizing it.

If military shooters are a spectrum with regards to realism vs. arcadiness

ARMA > Insurgency = Red Orchestra = Verdun = Classic Rainbow 6 > CounterStrike > Battlefield > Call of Duty

Plus the co-op is awesome, really harkens back to Swat4 and old Rainbow 6 games, so theres actually 2 games in one, the PvE co-op and the PvP multiplayer, all following the no crosshair no HuD hardcore realistic weapons and damage gameplay. There is a LOT of "game" in this game.

Watch the trailer on its store page, see if it grabs you. I really love the nighttime gameplay.

Here are some of my thoughts from when we were discussing it in the steam thread.

Anyone have any recommendations for a 4 year old kid? For some ideas, he likes playing Little Inferno, there's no lose condition there and he just sits and burns stuff but he's getting bored of it.

I think the Scribblenauts series of games (Unlimited, Unmasked, etc.) are great for younger children and older, and can be a good learning experience too (new words, word association, problem solving with context clues, etc).

It also has all sorts of popular characters and items too, officially or from the Steam Workshop, that can be added to keep the interest up.

oh I just thought of another recommendation, the toy story 3 game has 'toy box' mode. I haven't played it myself but I'm pretty sure you just mess around with the toy story characters.

Deus Ex GOTY is pretty cheap now at 1.74€. I know a lot of people love it, but is it really as playable today? I remember trying it out some years ago, and I remember how sluggish I found it. The character seemed to move so slowly. Maybe you can upgrade your speed or something later in the game? I really want to like it.

I bought it, and now I see why I found it sluggish. I don't know if it's just my computer, but the game has micro slowdowns every second or so. It keeps 60 fps, but it's like every third step is taken in jelly. This is also noticeable when jumping, it's like having a parachute most of the time. This is incredibly frustrating.

But I looked into the game's .ini-file and set vsync ON. Strangely enough, this seems to actually have turned vsync OFF. The game now runs much faster and at an even speed, with very high fps. It should be much more fun to play now.
*edit*
This appears to instead have made the game too fast. Dialogue lines are cut prematurely and running speed is probably a lot faster than it should be. Oh well, beats the sluggishness anyway...

Are you just looking for games he can play by himself?

Definitely sounds a lot more interesting than I had originally thought. Thanks for the impressions, I'll definitely be giving it a go later today.

I think there might be some issues with unloked FPS in Deus Ex, like dialogue skipping. I recommend installing the DX10 renderer that you'll find with some quick googling.

Is Ryse good for the daily price its at? The graphics always looked amazing in trailers and other media but I'm just worried about the mix of "Recommended" and "Not Recommended" reviews in steam.

I also wonder if my 780 will be enough to 60fps this game

Get the DX10 renderer. It fixes issues like that and it adds widescreen resolutions I think.

Mystery Game -- MB-F9444695D9B9CD3A - Taken by GaussTek. 13 entrants total.
A game that was up for auction, maybe it's The Evil Within or maybe it's Shannon Tweed's Attack of the Groupies

Dear Steam Gaf,

Should I?

I'm undecided... I only have Unity, but I have played all of this games except for Liberations and Freedom Cry on consoles (PS3). Figured it would be nice to have the collection.
