So about.... Don't Starve.

I kinda like the game. But I am finding I am getting bored quickly due to a lack of direction in the game. I am just surviving now. I know there is some portal doorway out there to get to a new world, but I am wondering if it is worth it to spend the time gathering all the pieces to get through it, just to start near square one again in a new world.

So is it actually worth it? And perhaps, am I missing something else to the game? I haven't tried it with any mods yet... going to later when I am done with the base game.
