It's a stunning game with loads of content. An absolute bargain at 5. I bought it on release for Wii U and was delighted with it.

I really, really wish I had waited on reviews to buy this, especially after Beyond Earth being pretty disappointing and continuing to be even with some patches. There are literally five options, three of them are sliders related to sound volume, one is a check box to disable tutorials, the other to toggle between windowed and fullscreen. This is the laziest PC port I have played in a good long while and it is the last thing I would expect from Firaxis. It's tremendously disappointing.
I was expecting a stripped down game because it's 15$ for tablet and PC but not this stripped down.

Steam's down for me too.
In a world where Endless Legend exists, it's going to take some substantial updates to get me to return to Beyond Earth.
Just go have a look-see on miiverse as it posts them what you unlock them per level. I've got about 5 to your 20 odd.
And yes I've got NO CONNECTION on Steam.

Oh also, be really careful with the hinges on that lappy. try to open it from closer to the hinge than the front because the hinges are prone to cracking the bezel. it's just poor design

3 of those 5 games have cards. If you get in fast, there are a total of 9 card drops with an average selling price of about $0.12 each, or about $0.97 card profit after fees.

Apologies for not posting in a while, thanks for MMBosstones86 for taking over for the time being and jshackles for recounting the votes. I think from the thread title you might have realized that I haven't been as 'active' as I usually am. This is mostly just being mega-busy with work/family/life in general. Overall, coming back to GAF after work felt like a chore at this point rather than a place that I wanted to unwind and keep up on track on gaming/off-topic threads. After 3+ years of making threads it's probably best to step back for a while and just try and post for enjoyment rather than creating threads. I hope everyone understands.
I think it makes sense for now, that you guys should be looking after this place.

I was getting worn out just from the Amiibo Threads and had to give up on them. Considering how long you have been making the threads and keeping it all together is quite legendary honestly. Especially when so many don't necessarily appreciate it. Will be nice to see you around as a casual poster when the time is able.

Not having a beta was a huge misstep for Beyond Earth.
While it's nice to read that they're going to try and rework Beyond Earth rather than just relying on selling another expansion to fix the base game, some of the things they say are worrying. I don't think people care about faction backstory and personality insofar as they're tired of hearing the same paltry few lines of flavour dialogue over and over and over and over at every "diplomatic" interaction while playing. I'll stab out my eardrums if I hear "No village was ever ruined by trade" or "What's mine is yours...for a price" one more time. It's not that the factions lack personality, they lack defined playstyles. All of the faction bonuses are pretty anemic. Firaxis really need to take a good, long, hard look at Endless Legends and how that game deals with factions and sub-factions. Combat as well, arguably.
It's good they're going to rework diplomacy because it's basically nonexistent in Beyond Earth, I'd argue it's more stripped back and limited than Civ V vanilla. It's weird to go from having so many nuanced systems in Brave New World to Beyond Earth.
The winter update for Beyond Earth is live. I've reinstalled the gamne but have yet to give it another go. The automated trade routes thing is huge since that's the most powerful and tedious thing you will continually do all game is manage trade routes. But I worry about the logic that will drive the automation. Re-worked wonders are nice even if some of them look overpowered now, at least more of them look like they're worth building.

Speaking of Endless Legend, there's some big updates for it coming.
As for Beyond Earth, that game was so disappointing for me that I'd be impressed if they can turn it around. But here's hoping. I wish that game was as good as the opening cinematic was.

Can't get excited about Endless Legend until they overhaul the combat system. It's currently a horrible chimera of Civ5's simplicity and Age of Wonders 3's complexity, rendering it an insufferable chore that still leaves the player at the mercy of the AI.
And for Firaxis... after this mobile potato they served the PC, it's probably prudent to take a step back from their stuff for a while. Firaxis needs to decide on their priorities right now, because there's something terriblly wrong with how they're currently operating.

Wow, there's a lot of weird advertising banner pop-ups for Starships in Beyond Earth. I find a resource pod, I get an ad that I've unlocked a mission in Starships in the bottom left hand corner of my screen. I found a colony, I get another ad that I've unlocked a different mission in Starships. I do already own Starships and I did create a my2k account because I want to try the save importing they added from Beyond Earth into Starships and the free biome/map for BE so maybe this cross-functionality will be cool if I do end up enjoying Starships but right now it looks kind of crass. Hopefully this only shows up if you create a my2K account and have both games.
