So I noticed that the Street Fighter: Resurrection series was finally out, or at least the first episode. Been looking forward to that for a while now, I really enjoyed the previous work that team did with Assassins Fist, in actually making a good story out of the Street Fighter lore.

Hoped over to YouTube to see if I could find it, and all I could find were trailers, saying the new series was exclusive to some phone app. Which was certainly a pain, having to watch video on some small phone screen or fairly small tablet, but at least I'd get to watch it, right?

Nope, it's exclusive to Go90, which is exclusive to Verizon customers. Meaning exclusive to the US. Fuck this exclusivity shit. Hate it so much.

I really liked Assassins Fist. That sounds like a shit decision.

That would neuter the entire point of a PS4.5, where 4K gaming seems to be the focal point of that rumour.

I just don't see AAA games running at 4K on a console, at least at this point in time, and especially at an affordable price.

You'd need that extra pixel pushing power for VR, wouldn't you? Outputting a single 2D image at 4k, or two separate visual fields @ standard resolution...

Apparently the only fix for the uplay black screen/crash error is uninstalling most/all USB devices. Which I can't do. I have a USB hub, a DS4 gamepad, among other things.

Booted up Hitman for a bit and it worked fine. So it's just fuckin' uplay.

EDIT: The Division is uplay. Crap I might not be able to play it on PC.

I didn't realize Telltale did a Back to the Future game. Guess I will keep an eye on it.

It was during their transition phase to their current style, so it is still held down by clunky inventory puzzles but it has decent writing and star power. If you're a big fan it's worth playing. I almost wish they'd tweak or remake it.

Yeah, so in Deadbolt in the very first room of the first level you can pretty much see the issue with the level of attention melee weapons attract versus the use of firearms. You can blow a zombie's head clean off with a firearm and not attract any attention from the adjacent rooms, but use a melee weapon on an unsuspecting zombie and you'll the attention of every zombie in the adjacent rooms. I don't understand how that works, it should totally be reversed.

As for scoring the only things that seem to matter is landing 100% of your attacks, melee or firearms so never miss a swing and make sure every bullet fired is a headshot. Also upgrading seems pretty necessary in order to progress and continue to score well. So you're better off clearing all levels before trying to up your score.

Firewatch did 500k sales in a month? Nice. Glad for Campo Santo - they made a great one of those games.
It sure is an impressive achievement for an indie team's first game. Despite being released so close to another indie juggernaut with arguably more media presence and push, The Witness.
Very neat to compare them both easily through Enhanced Steam on Chrome.(Wish FF would be working with ES again, them features I dearly miss :( )
- about the same, good user ranking (~85 positive) despite the vocal minorities complaints about price and length, majority of owners don't seem to share those sentiments
- Witness at ~100K, Firewatch at ~300K
Will be interesting to see how numbers will change in future sales once high discounts are available.
With me being a brit, what price would this build be in pounds roughly?
Difficult to tell really since hardware prices can vary drastically regionally. Many parts were bought used as well, so your mileage may vary.
Talking straight conversion, if that's what you want to know, 350$ equal 242£.

Might try and copy the build, just after a build thats on par with PS4 and that could be upgraded in future.

The spirit of the build would be to set the budget at whatever a used PS4 in good condition would cost in your locale.

If you want to get a better idea of what it *should* be in terms of pounds, I would look up the parts they used from places you could order/buy from and then total it up. Or you could go with the FreshVeggie approved conversion above.

Huge news if true.

But how much powerful is it going to be at a price the console owners feel comfortable to upgrade? 400~500 bucks is only enough for a 1080p gaming machine I think.

If it's true, most may as well go the PC route imo

Yeah, mass production could hold down the price and all, but how much performance increase in a 400 dollar machine is enough make people to not go "why even bother"?
Porn files will likely be compatible with all headsets
Until some porn website starts making VR porn, and one VR manufacturer secured the exclusive deal, because they're all a bunch of exclusive loving bastards.

It looks like that Kotaku could go down. Gawker just lost in lawsuit with Hulk Hogan and they owe him 115M.

Some schadenfreude regarding this whole thing. There are certain journalists that have mocked people defending free speech using the term "freeze peach" that are also right now upset over the precedent set by this verdict for freedom of press going forward.

Finished retrograde in one sitting.

I could see both how it would be fun to keep doing score runs and how it would work well as a guitar game. I had my fill of it through one playthrough though.

My STEAM on-screen keyboard has been showing up as a blank screen for the past few days now. Is there some kind of issue going around? Is there a fix?

I hope Jason and Totilo create a new website without the Gawkerness. I like some of the staff at Kotaku.

Indeed. Kirk Hamilton and Patrick Klepek, too, among others - feel terrible for those on the periphery of this, and the ripples are likely to reach as far as here in Australia, where Kotaku have quite a few journos (Mark Serrels, Luke Plunkett, et al).

All good peeps who would be highly sought elsewhere I think, which is some consolation, if they don't collectively land on their feet together somewhere (assuming the worst, that is).

I wanted to buy an SSD for gaming, but because I'm on Ivy Bridge, my MB on has one SATA3 port (even the highest end Z77 board only has two). If I wanted to go ahead with my purchase, I either have to switch my system SSD to a SATA2 port, or connect the new SSD to one, don't know which is worse. If I went for a PCI-E to SATA3 card, it means I would have to give up my sound card for the lousy on board sound, what should I do?

Attach the non system SSD to Sata2. It will still be fine.

So far, assassin's Creed rogue feels like ubisoft is using every part of the black flag buffalo to make another game. Even down to the stuff outside the animus, that shit is the same.

I guess I'll finish it so I can finally play unity

for fucks sake, i hate it when they put the animus bullshit in it. i have to admit i kinda liked it in ac1, 2 brotherhood and ac3 (not revelations, those animus parts were terrible), but they were pretty non-existent and shoehorned into black flag. worst part is, you'd automatically get pulled out mandatory at some points. haven't played rogue and unity but i assume it's the same.

Same here. It works, it's just blank/invisible.
There might be an issue, but I haven't checked the Steam forums.

I wonder how amused the long time PC people must be right now after a bunch of years last gen where it seemed like PC gaming was fading away in favor to the focus on consoles. Now they're seeming to adopt PC models in order to keep pace with the market.

Gaming sure is weird.

Try running this file:

steamapps\common\alpha protocol\Support\physx\PhysX_9.09.0814_SystemSoftware.exe

If it asks you to repair your physx installation, say yes. Otherwise just let it install.

From my experience with other unreal games, you're missing that games version of PhysX needed to run and later drivers don't install the legacy versions unless they have to.

Says: "The currently installed version of this driver is newer than what you are trying to install, aborting the installation". Only gives me an option to cancel.

Played a bit of The Room. Man, this game is gorgeous. Very moody.
A lot of fiddling around though. Fun and relaxing.. until you get stumped.

Solid as a puzzler, left me kinda wanting on the end. Wasn't fond of how the mystery was resolved. Glad to hear you're liking it, though. I think the bit I found most difficult, in terms of being stumped for a while - genuinely having to walk away for a bit and return, was part way into Chapter 4. Had to sleep on it. It took me a while to realise there wasn't really much of a pattern, in general, though. Atmosphere was A1. The whispers? Shook.
