I heard from a steam friend that Sierra and Lucas Arts are revived and they are coming back slowly. Any news about that? I was very interested in that Indian Jones game that used DMM (Digital Molecular Matter) for realistic destruction (yes it had a better version than the simplistic version of Star Wars The Force Unleashed)!
Haha, this guy. Like I don't know that the gift copies will be the only way to get a +1 from the game once it goes F2P. If he wanted just a couple of copies instead of a handful, maybe I'd believe that he wanted them for himself and a friend or whatever.
Personally I still feel you're failing with story if you make anyway have to go out of their way to learn something which is the main focus of the story.
That's why they generally have a grounded main character either with amnesia (FFVI) or someone not as familiar with the world at large, think farmer Luke from Star Wars.
In FFXIII everyone is intrinsically connected to the world. Sometimes they force some things in with Vanille where she says she didn't pay attention in school or doesn't read the newspaper, but that's somewhat of a stretch.

I guess the Speedrunners event leaked, although fake and boring so I could just as well announce the real one.
Any number of challengers, if more than 3 enters, then I will split it in 2+ teams.
One win in any official map gives you 1 free random Steam game, no limit to wins.
We will play all official maps once.
A friend of me is not sure what system to get this gen. He's deciding between PS4 or a gaming PC. Tomorrow he will come over to check out The Evil Within. It better be well optimized or he will get a pretty bad impression of PC gaming.
I love PC gaming, but I have a hard time convincing people its better than consoles. If you have the right setup 98% of games work great with no tweaking required (unless you want to). Its those few games that either require tweaking or some knowledge of how graphics settings work that turn people off to PC gaming. Some people just love the ease of console gaming even if it means you aren't getting the full potential out of the game.
Great game but not $60 AAA great. Square sent this game to die and I can see why it took down its studio too. With some sharper focus (or perhaps as a deluxe download title) this could've fared much better.
It's an extremely short affair, my Steam play time says 13 hours but I think I cleared it in 10 (rest are pauses, interruptions like life and such) and, unlike L.A. Noire, I liked the game more and more as I progressed. Investigations were fun, looking for clues was made not too painfully (unlike the rigid, repetitive-as-hell structure of that other noir game, which also took down its studio in the process) and everything was smooth as hell. Silmy smooth 60fps, 1080p, etc, you name it. It helps that it's Unreal Engine.
It also helps that there is no real combat (not counting the sneaking/dealing with demons since I can count with my hands the times you "fight" them) so no pew pew probably played heavily against it. I, for a change, loved that you couldn't shoot anyone, not even undead ghosties.
Whatever, there were loads of neat things like the ghostly figures and shadows flashing in the distance, the whole supernatural feel as you float/walk around Salem. Loads of lore and ghost stories so, being a fan of the paranormal really helped.
So, yeah, recommended, quite recommended, especially if you see it during a sale! If you don't have time (like me), the game's length is ideal. You can even feel proud and 100% in a relatively painless way too as most items aren't too hidden (bar the Codex achievement one, just grab a FAQ ). Zero replay value here though, which is the problem I find with these AAA things. Just beat and into the next one...
At least it didn't have bullshit DLC/season passes or tacked on some shitty multiplayer and put achievements on it.
Forgot to mention just beat Splinter Cell Blacklist.
Such a fun game. They did a fantastic job of supporting different playstyle quite well.
Plus the gameplay is so smooth. Going to make playing MGSV for my kinda style that much harder.
Patch v1.10 is out
[ACE] ABORDEU
Fixes / improvements include:
Online PvP mode is out! Online versus supports two player matches. Players that create an online game can wait for clients while fighting AI random mateches.
Improved overall net code to reduce lag and better replicate combat systems.
Updated local versus mode to support teams and included the ability to select AI opponents.
Updated combat mechanics with numerous improvements:
-Ability to transform in between characters mid air or during combos. Transformation occurs faster but now requires using a cancel point.
-Improved turning mechanics. Smoother interpolations and character can change directions with no pauses.
-Recalibrated knockout weights to better support combos. Heavy enemies can now also fall into combos. Training dummy knockback is identical to all light characters.
-Improved character encroaching collision dynamics to avoid characters from intersecting during attacks.
-Fixed input bug related to throws.
-Minor calibration/tweaks specific to some characters.
Tweaked NPC parrying AI.
Fixed performance issue with AI path finding.
Polytrails for weapon special attacks use a brighter VFX.
Introduced a new tile in plant world.
Added 2 new achievements.
Introduced new elements which will unlock after the current seal is destroyed.
Styx got an update with better jumping ledge detection, amongst other things.
They also added extra bindable buttons and quicksave/quickload are now displayed in the options menu.
I like this! I'm pro short games or arcade stuff I can go back to like schmukmups (shmups). Just thinking about going back to FFXIII and knowing I'm 90 hours away from the end brings tears to my eyes.
It says "no card drops remaining" for me even though I never played it. If the game is now free it might not drop cards anymore like other F2P games but I'm not sure.

I didn't read the encyclopedia entries in FFXIII (after getting burned by previous games where I spoiled major plot points on myself by reading these), and I still didn't find it particularly hard to understand. They tell you everything you need to know to understand the story, they just don't tell it all upfront.
The story starts in media res, and a lot of major plot points are told later through flashbacks. That could have been a decent storytelling device, but as I mentioned previously, the game has pacing issues. So, for instance, it takes hours of game time to get to the point where they tell you why you are being hunted by the military, and why Lightning and Snow are trying to get to Serah. So you spend the first few hours of gameplay without any inkling of what you are doing or why, despite the fact that every character involved has at least a cursory understanding of what is going on. If the same sequence of events took 15-20 minutes before they started doling out plot relevant information, it wouldn't have been as much of a problem. It also would have been nice to not have spent so much time fighting before you even unlock the most basic of combat mechanics or the leveling system.
But when they actually lay all of the cards on the table, there isn't really much in the plot that's hard to understand. The villian's motive is a bit illogical, but it's very much in line with Final Fantasy villains.
It's not too dissimilar to Sephiroth's ultimate goal, though the context is obviously different.
I think the main issue, is that it takes so long to get to that point, and so much of the story sequence focus on unlikeable characters saying unrealistic things, that people start to tune out the story, by the time the game gets around to actually starting to tell it.

If it's a 4GB card, 30fps at max shouldn't be a problem; if it's a 2GB card, then you're quite likely going to have to play with terrible shadow quality if you'd prefer to maintain a native rendering resolution.
I remember I got the chance to play Proteus before it was released and found myself enjoying it, even if I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on.
I have a 660. I'm sure even though it recommended 4gb VRAM.
That we'll be able to run it. Though some obvious setting are going to have to be turned down.

It's supposed to be a stretch. I'll leave it at that.

it is confusing at the start, but you really only need to explore thoroughly, trying interact with objects don't do anything, but I think moving in certain way affects music, at least I noticed it happening, or it is very cleverly made soundtrack

Yeah, I'm not expecting my 670 to push high res textures. Which is rather terrifying considering it's a idtech 5 game We'll see. I was able to run Wolfenstein at reasonably high settings, TEW can't be that bad... right?

What Bethesda has said about the VRAM requirement and in-game graphics options suggests that reducing texture quality won't be possible, which, if true, leaves shadow quality and resolution as the only two settings that will have a noticeable effect on VRAM usage.
