What I take as the biggest slap from all this is that there's no difference between the people who pre-ordered / bought at release vs. the people buying it now on re-release before the 16th. I can understand drumming up hype for a re-release but it basically ignores the fact that if you paid money months ago, you still get nothing special. Someone buying it at a cheaper base price in the next 2 weeks gets the same free dumb shit as you.

$5 says WB pulls Arkham Knight again.

Seriously, though, I want a tech site to break down frame-rates of the game before and after the re-release on a range of cards to really highlight how little has been fixed.

That would be absolutely insane. WB would never hear the end of it, ever, if they did that.

For what it's worth, my fps is roughly the same in Arkham Knight as it was around launch (that is 45-70fps at 2560x1440 with a single GTX970), but stuttering is completely gone. Stuttering was the major issue as far as I know but are people with good setups having framerate issues as well? I consider 45-70 pretty good for that resolution and that card, it's slightly above Witcher 3 for example.

Obviously you need to turn all the Nvidia crap down, it never works in any game unless you are using a very high-end machine but other than that, do people have serious fps issues?

All the season pass content still missing though..

Rocksteady should be proud at least, they have their own personal GAF Defense Force©.

There's tons of people defending on Steam too.

Yup. I guess Newegg & Amazon buyers of Nvidia GPUs got best deal with The Phantom Pain
:(

That seems like a really big map.

If it's all playable.

Paris map is kinda small (as in it's basically single building, not part of town).
It's just silly to do two hits in the same building regardless of backstory.

For whatever it's worth, I had zero stuttering with Batman AK on launch on my 2gb GTX760 with settings suitable for a 2gb card. I did have a a bunch of those texture streaming issues, so I didn't play too far into it.

The interim patch seemingly fixed the streaming problems for me, but I haven't tried this latest update yet. I suppose I should give it a go since I also upgraded my gpu after that.

We can hope I guess.

I don't think that's worth being proud of. There's a defense force for everything.

True, true. This defense force really tickles my funny bone though, it's been so long since I'd seen someone stick words in my mouth then use those same words to call my opinion stupid.

I don't get much amusement these days though, might be why.

While I'm offending people, I think the bolded is just not something you can expect from the general gaming populace.

Ok people, I've a huge doubt.

There's a lot of hype about Galak-Z, but I have the doubt it's just a mediocre / not that great game, that's overhyped because it's "exclusive" to one closed hardware platform (okay, to a console brand); the experience I had in this and in the previous generation teached me that most of these kind of games (overhyped exclusive games) are mostly games which range from bland to "not fun", especially indie games, with few exceptions (ie. the excellent Rocket League, just to name a recent one).

What immediately rings a bell is one of the bullet points in the Steam description: "Inspired to 70/80s anime and shmup": I can't find that inspiration at all.

I can't see any inspiration from 70/80s anime in the shortcuts I saw, which instead scream (at least to me): "cheap saturday morning toons" - ie:

70/80s anime:
goldrake_2.jpg

Galak-Z:
ss_3be1dfeab45d90f28f4c4374a16c3766a1786a41.600x338.jpg

And about "gameplay" it's even more "far" from the claimed inspiration. I saw several YT videos, ie this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tz29aXxiMw. In this video you can see gameplay mechanics which are absolutely not from 70/80s; first of all the sprites scaling and rotations started with 1988 Namco's Assault coin op (pretending to not consider that Galak-Z is "2.5D" and not a pixel art game), and the heavy physics implementation is from much later, occured with much beefier CPUs.
70/80s shooters were totally different.

Anyway "inspiration" could mean anything, even if I expected something much more relevant.

Is anyone kind enough to waste a bit of her/his time to explain me what makes Galak-Z so great? Is it more a "puzzle/shmup" than a pure shmup like Nintendo 64 Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O or Nintendo DS Bangai-O Spirits?

Thanks ^___^

I mean Galak-Z's been out on PS4 for a couple months. You can probably find people in the OT for it to tell you about it more than the thread for the platform it hasn't hit yet.

Whoa how is that possible?o_O Sure I prefer Fallout myself but I'm still surprised. Maybe the Skyrim trailer was posted on an other channel that had more traffic or something.

You are likely correct. The Elder Scrolls Online trailer even has more views. There is one on IGN's channel with 25 million views, for instance.

People are increasingly getting this stuff directly from official marketing. Four years ago a lot more people were seeing the trailer hosted on sites like gamespot and IGN whether through their own player or on their youtube channel as well as channels like Machinima.

But... but... it's not the definitive version... or at least that's what fantomena told us.

The IGN version of Skyrim's trailer has a little over 23.5 million views.

GB's Quick Look (console version) unsold me on the game, personally. I don't know what I was expecting, but a hard-as-steel twitch-based roguelike with zero progression is not it.
Thanks! I'll give it a look asap.

I don't trust information from (mostly) console exclusive threads; sadly I've been repeatedly burned in the past. :(

Ah crap, I went on a bundle spree and didn't realize how much I had bought. Amazingly wound up exactly here:

I hit level 30 - does that get you more booster packs or something?

yeah, they'll the frequency of the booster drops will rise up for you, but not by a lot

but those people will say it is amazing because it is a BASED SONY EXCLUSIVE which is what he was getting at..

I asked the same question a week ago too, that it seemed like a mediocre game and was the hype real or was it just console fanboy hype debris
