lol... are you VN fans going to argue that VNs are games and not just really expensive fanfics with pictures to look at? also why ar they called "kinetic novels" when they require less movement than reading a book?

edit sorry for double post

That's why they made the distinction that it's a kinetic novel, and not a usual VN. It even states "Unlike traditional visual novel games" in the full text of that quote you used :p

KineticNovel is a sub-brand of Japanese game publisher, VisualArt’s. Unlike traditional visual novel games, KineticNovel games are so named because the story can be progressed without player interaction. There are no choices to be made and only one ending. Thus, the player can enjoy the game more like a traditional novel.

What's wrong with reading a book with pictures and sound and controlling the pace?
That's still a game.

How is it a game when there is no interaction other than hitting the next button? (And now you don't even have to be assed to do that...)

By that token The Brothers Karamazov is the greatest game ever.

Is there a lot of gameplay though? I heard after about 10 hours there's really not anything else to do.

Well I have over 80 hours played on it and I'm still not done with it, so yeah I think it has some length to it. Especially if you go after the achievements as they are kind of like little missions or quests. The game is fun, and mods are really going to add a lot to it. They already are actually.

Ok i'm a bit confused right now. I just bought (what i thought) was a leftover copy from the region free DR2 complete's, and now i keep getting an error that it's restricted in your country. It has no red exclamation mark or tag on the gift.

It was retroactively locked. Don't know why those don't show region lock thought.

Seems like I am in the same boat as you. I cannot redeem the gift too

Am I one of the few people here that after finishing (or getting bored of) a game I either delete it or back it up? (Well except for Stallion of course). I next to never get 'surprised' by these big updates because I don't have something redundantly installed to update.

There's nothing to argue about. It's a game and that's it, there's no discussion to be had here. VNs are games, Gone Home is a game, Dear Esther is a game. All this crusade to try and tell people what are or not games is frankly quite useless and petty.

speaking of GTA V ... I just watched the new trailer ... and ... well ... these 3 screenshots from it should show you how much of a fuck R* gives about PC:

I always uninstall games when finished

Gone Home and Dear Esther literally let you, as a player character, walk around and interact with things in a digital environment.

A visual novel is words on a screen and in this one you literally have no input into the story, where's the game?

Like I said if this is a game then the Brothers Karamazov by Doestevsky is the greatest game I've ever played..

Why are you complaining? They could have added that as a footnote...

"Preorder now"

Would help if they finally put the game up for preorder on Steam in the first place...

Once again, you're talking about "kinetic" novels. Visual novels are defined by having human input, or interactivity, by making choices.

Think of it as a video game equivalent to a gamebook/choose your own adventure book but generally with pictures, sounds, music, etc.

If you can interact and its on a game platform its a game in my eyes. I don't see gaming as having to be some crazy stuff.

Don't you consider the mountain a game?

VNs often have branching paths based on player choice and play to the strengths & weaknesses of being an interactive medium. Just because you don't see it doesn't suddenly make it not true.

Because there'll be that 'force'/group that'll want this to be originally among the game's base data.

Who the hell would do that?
DLC of that magnitude is the same as this 5gb update but not mandatory.

Only people I could see mad are those who expected languages day 1.

I've heard what you're saying from other people as well. I don't get it. The PC has always been around. Of course they're going to put the new gen consoles up first. I see nothing wrong here.

If they
whenthey
put out a shit port, then it's time to complain.

If you think of it this way, PC got it's own screen to itself. XB1, and PS4 had to share a cramped up musty screen.

That really puts a sour taste in my mouth about the game, I feel likes it's kinda shady of them to do that, and of course since it's Rockstar, we won't get an actual reason for the dalay or any real info until damn near launch.
